OSRS bonds are the cheapest they've been in a year, two days before Hardcore Worlds makes them more useful. If you pay for membership with GP, this is a good moment to stock up on what you'll actually redeem. If you're hoping to flip bonds for profit, or you sell them for GP, the maths is much worse. Here's the live price, what changes on November 4 and what to do about it, with every number dated.

TL;DR: Should You Buy OSRS Bonds Right Now?
- Live price: bonds traded between about 9.55M and 10.0M GP at around 20:25 UTC on 2 November 2026, a mid of roughly 9.75M (prices.runescape.wiki).
- The drop: the daily mid hit 9.62M on 31 October, the lowest in the past 12 months and 42% below January's 16.49M peak.
- The change: from the November 4 Hardcore Worlds update, a new interface lets you redeem a bond on any character linked to your Jagex Account.
- Buy if you already pay for membership in GP, or plan a Hardcore Worlds character or linked ironman. Stick to 1 to 3 months of bonds.
- Don't buy to flip. A bond bought on the GE at 9.75M has to sell for about 10.75M after its conversion fee of roughly 1M just to break even.
What Is the OSRS Bond Price Today?
An Old School bond costs about 9.75M GP at the Grand Exchange mid as of 2 November 2026. The real-money price hasn't moved: $9.99 / £7.49 for one bond since the March 2026 price change.
So the fall is all on the GP side. A bond that cost 15.5M on average in January now costs around 9.75M, which means the same 14 days of membership takes far less grinding.
| Period | Average daily mid (GP) | Lowest day (GP) | Highest day (GP) |
|---|---|---|---|
| January 2026 | 15.51M | 14.37M | 16.49M |
| May 2026 | 14.32M | 13.58M | 14.72M |
| July 2026 | 12.00M | 11.49M | 12.57M |
| September 2026 | 11.59M | 11.00M | 12.19M |
| October 2026 | 10.90M | 9.62M | 11.95M |

Why Did the OSRS Bond Price Drop in October?
Jagex hasn't given a reason, so treat any explanation as a theory. What the data does show is the timing. Bonds averaged 11.40M across 10 to 19 October, then fell to a 10.3M daily mid on 20 October, the day The Fractured Archive released. They've averaged 9.85M since 23 October, about 14% lower.
Those daily figures run to 31 October, the latest the price API returned. Volume backs up that something real happened. Combined daily trades went from around 13,000 in the days before launch to almost 24,800 on 20 October.
Our read is that players were turning bonds into GP for raid gear and supplies, since a new raid is a strong reason to sell. That's an inference, not a confirmed fact. It's also only the latest leg of a longer slide: bonds were already down from about 14.3M in May to 11.6M by September.
What Changes With Bonds on November 4?
Bonds become far easier to use across characters. A screenshot from creator C Engineer's PVP HCIM #21 video, shared on r/2007scape today, shows a new bond interface with a Redeem to character dropdown. Its text reads:
"Old School bonds can be redeemed for membership on any character linked to your Jagex Account, or some character specific packages."
In the Hardcore Worlds announcement thread on r/2007scape, players asked how to get bonds from a main onto a new character. A reply in that thread, written in the team's voice, says the following. We couldn't verify which account posted it:
"We're releasing a new in-game interface for bonds that will allow you to select any other character from your Jagex Account that you want to redeem a bond on. This will be ready for Hardcore Worlds launch"
This matters most for three groups:
- Hardcore Worlds players. The mode is members-only, it starts on a fresh character, and it has its own separate economy. Your main's GP can't cross over, but a bond your main bought can be spent on the new character.
- Ironmen with a main. Today, a bond bought on the GE is untradeable, so gifting one means paying a conversion fee first: 10% of the bond's official GE guide value, or about 1M GP right now. After November 4, the linked-character route should remove that step.
- Anyone with a pile of alts. Jagex recently raised the character cap to 50 per Jagex Account, up from 20.
One caveat: Jagex hasn't covered this in a news post yet, and the November 4 patch notes aren't out. Neither source says outright whether untradeable, GE-bought bonds qualify. The interface counts bonds in your inventory, bank and pouch without separating them, which is promising. Read the patch notes before you rely on it, and don't pay for a conversion you may not need.

How Much Does Membership Cost in GP Right Now?
Membership costs about 696K GP per day on single bonds at today's mid, and about 534K GP per day on the 12-month package.
| Package | Bonds | Days | GP cost at 9.75M | GP per day | Cash price of the bonds |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 1 | 14 | 9.75M | 696K | $9.99 |
| Standard | 2 | 29 | 19.5M | 672K | $19.98 |
| Standard | 3 | 45 | 29.25M | 650K | $29.95 |
| 12-month | 20 | 365 | 195M | 534K | $192.99 |

In grind terms, a bond is now about 4.9 hours of work at 2M GP/hr. In January it was about 8.2 hours at the peak. If you need a method, our ranked OSRS money-making guide and AFK money-making list cover the options.
Paying cash? A plain 1-month subscription is $14.99 and 12 months is $131.88, so a subscription beats buying bonds with real money if you're playing long-term. Our bonds worth-it breakdown and membership guide go deeper on that choice.
Should You Buy Bonds Before Hardcore Worlds?
Yes if you'd redeem them anyway. No if you're buying them as an investment. Here's how we'd rank it.
1. Planning a Hardcore Worlds character: buy now. A new character can't earn 9.75M before it needs membership, so the bond has to come from outside that world. Buy 1 to 3 on your main before launch and hold them there until the interface goes live. Three bonds at 45 days is the best short-term value. The risk: if GE-bought bonds turn out not to qualify, you'd pay the usual conversion fee or redeem them on your main instead.
2. Paying for your main with GP: buy 1 to 3 months' worth. You're locking in a 12-month low on something you'd buy regardless. Going further ties up bank value, and at 20 bonds you've got 195M sitting idle. Only do that if you have the bank and want the 12-month rate.
3. Ironman with a main: buy, but don't convert. Wait for the patch notes, which could save you about 1M per bond.
4. Holding for a rebound: skip it. We can't tell you where bonds go next, and neither can anyone else. Every new Hardcore Worlds character needs membership, which could add demand. But plenty of players will just pay cash, and much of that demand may already be priced in. Meanwhile the wiki's own numbers show the catch: a GE-bought bond is untradeable, so reselling means paying 10% of its GE guide value when you convert. With today's fee of about 1M, buying at 9.75M means you need about 10.75M to break even, a 10% rise on a market that has fallen for most of 2026. That fee also grows if the guide price recovers.
5. Selling bonds for GP: this is the worst time this year. One bond now brings in around 9.75M, down from about 11.6M in September. That values official GP at about $1.02 per million. For context, our gold price guide put open-market gold at roughly $0.25 to $0.30 per million on 20 August 2026.
Short on GP for bonds, raid gear or a Hardcore Worlds head start on your main? Top up the bank once, then put your time into playing instead of grinding.

Buying GP is against the Rules of Old School RuneScape, so read our honest guide to ban risk first. The bond is the only route Jagex officially supports for turning cash into GP.
What Should You Do Before November 17?
Upgrade to a Jagex Account if you haven't already. The linked-character bond feature depends on it, and it's about to stop being optional. Jagex's migration post says:
"On this date, all Legacy accounts will need to make the one-time jump to Jagex Accounts. All you'll need is your Username or Login Email and Password."
If you haven't moved by November 17, 2026, you won't be able to log in until you do. Your characters stay safe either way. Jagex says over 89% of active players have already moved. Steam, Apple, Google and Game Center logins don't need to change to keep logging in, though they do need a Jagex Account for the Launcher and some website features.
Before launch, keep your bonds on the main. Jagex says choosing Reset after a Hardcore Worlds death wipes everything on that character, including protected items. Anything sitting in that character's bank goes with it, so a bond is safer unredeemed on your main until you need it.
Also expect GP to feel very different once you're in. Jagex's own prediction for the new economy:
"There's a real potential due to the risk associated playing on these worlds, 1,000,000 GP feels more like it did in 2007 than in the main game today!"
That's from the official Hardcore Worlds blog. For making GP once you're there, see our Hardcore Worlds money-making guide.
FAQ
How much is an OSRS bond right now? About 9.75M GP at the Grand Exchange mid on 2 November 2026, with trades between roughly 9.55M and 10.0M. The price moves constantly, so check prices.runescape.wiki before you buy.
Why are OSRS bonds so cheap? Jagex hasn't said. Prices have slid for most of 2026, then fell sharply when The Fractured Archive launched on 20 October. Our best guess is players selling bonds for raid gear, but that isn't confirmed.
Can I use a bond from my main on a Hardcore Worlds character? That's the plan from November 4. The new interface is shown letting you redeem a bond on any character linked to your Jagex Account, and Hardcore Worlds characters are fresh characters on that account. Confirm the details in the patch notes on launch day.
Do I still need to convert a bond for my ironman? Probably not after November 4, if the ironman is linked to the same Jagex Account as your main. Hold off on paying the conversion fee until the patch notes confirm that GE-bought bonds qualify.
Does Hardcore Worlds need membership? Yes. The OSRS Wiki lists it as a members-only game mode, and membership is paid per character, so your main's membership won't cover a new one.
Is it cheaper to buy bonds with GP or subscribe? It depends on what you have more of. In cash, a $14.99 monthly subscription beats two bonds at $19.98 for 29 days. In GP, about 672K per day on the 2-bond tier is cheap if you make 2M+ GP an hour.
