PoE Allflame Crafting & Ducats Guide (3.29): How Every Ducat Works

Quick answer: what are Ducats and Allflame crafting in PoE 3.29?

Ducats are a new set of crafting currencies exclusive to the Curse of the Allflame league. You do not trade with them like Chaos or Divine Orbs — you take them to the Allflame crafting tools aboard The Sovereign (the league hub ship) and spend them for powerful, targeted item effects you cannot get anywhere else. Each named Ducat does one specific thing: Kishara's Ducat splits an item into ghostly copies to isolate a single good modifier, The Genteel's Ducat swaps an item's attribute requirement, Brinehook's Ducat grants an Aspect, and Ukatoa's Ducat upgrades an amulet's implicit to an Eldritch version. You earn them by running Charts and Voyages and, since 3.29.2, by killing certain endgame bosses.

What exactly is a Ducat? (and what it is not)

The single biggest point of confusion this league: Ducats are not trade currency. They are consumed at the Allflame crafting bench on The Sovereign for exotic, one-shot effects. Think of them as a bundle of Beastcrafting-style recipes, each locked behind its own named currency, rather than a "new Chaos Orb." Calling a Ducat "the new trade currency" is wrong, and it's the mistake that sends new players hunting the wrong market.

Three things define the Ducat economy:

• They only come from the league mechanic. You will not find Ducats in ordinary map drops. Each Ducat is earned by engaging with Charts, Voyages, and (as of 3.29.2) specific bosses — see the farming section below.
• Each does one job. There is no generic "reroll" Ducat; every named Ducat has a fixed, specialized effect. Picking the right one for the item in front of you is the whole skill.
• They are tradeable between players, even though you don't trade with them. Because they drop from the mechanic and not every player farms the same Charts, a market exists — if you want a specific Ducat now, buy it rather than grind for it.

The main Ducats and what each one does

There are several Ducats in 3.29, but four carry the crafting power and drive the market. Here's the verified effect of each.

Kishara's Ducat — split an item to isolate one great mod

Kishara's Ducat is the headline Ducat. It splits a rare item into multiple ghostly copies, distributing the item's modifiers across those copies, so each copy keeps only part of the original. The play: find a rare with one exceptional modifier surrounded by junk, split it, then keep the copy that holds the mod you actually want and use that as a clean base for further crafting. Maxroll frames it directly against an existing mechanic — Kishara's four-way split is "even more powerful than Einhar's Bestiary three-way split using a Black Morrigan." That extra copy meaningfully raises your odds of isolating the good roll.

The Genteel's Ducat — swap an attribute requirement

The Genteel's Ducat transforms one attribute requirement on an item into another — for example, turning a strength-requirement base into one your dexterity character can wear. It also rerolls attribute affixes on cluster jewels, which is where the current bug lives (next section). This is the "make this base usable for my build" Ducat.

Brinehook's Ducat — grant an Aspect

Brinehook's Ducat grants an Aspect skill inspired by Wraeclast's ancient gods onto an eligible item. It's an offensive/utility upgrade rather than a mod-fixer. Note the guardrail GGG added in 3.29.1: "Prevented use of Brinehook's Ducat on items that can't grant skills, and prevented non-equipment items from granting skills from mods in general." If your target can't grant a skill, this Ducat won't apply.

Ukatoa's Ducat — upgrade an amulet implicit to Eldritch

Added in 3.29.1, Ukatoa's Ducat replaces the implicit modifier on a non-unique amulet with an Eldritch version — a genuine power jump on a slot most players ignore. If you're building around a rare amulet, this is one of the strongest single crafting steps the league offers.

Cursed Ducats — new in Patch 3.29.3

Patch 3.29.3 introduced Cursed Ducats, a separate Ducat sub-type that is not used for item crafting. Instead, you socket them into the Voyage Planner to boost your Charts and Voyages. Up to three can be socketed simultaneously; each one stacks Toughness, Item Quantity, and Item Rarity on monsters inside your Charts and Voyages alongside a unique difficulty modifier — the harder the encounter, the better the loot. How do you farm Ducats in 3.29?

Ducats come entirely from the Curse of the Allflame loop. There are now three sources:

• Charts. Find Lost Charts guarded by monsters inside your maps, take them to The Sovereign, and descend in the Bathysphere to a seafloor area. Charts are repeatable — you can re-run the same Chart to farm its rewards again. Specific "Cursed" Charts are the primary Ducat source.
• Voyages. Link 9 Charts into a single Voyage — one long chained seafloor expedition. Voyages are the high-end version of the loop: the loot you find is shipped to the surface and collected from The Sovereign, and they're where the real currency (and the rarer Ducats) live.
• Boss kills (new in 3.29.2). GGG expanded acquisition so Cursed Ducats can now drop from a rotation of endgame bosses — including Lycea, Aul, Olroth, Oshabi, Doryani's Machinarium and the Blasted Monolith — so you're no longer forced to chart-hunt a specific reward if you're already farming pinnacle content.

The Genteel's Ducat and small cluster jewels — now fixed in 3.29.3

The small cluster jewel issue with The Genteel's Ducat is fixed as of Patch 3.29.3 (~15 August 2026). Previously, large and medium cluster jewels could have their single-attribute modifiers swapped but small cluster jewels silently failed. GGG shipped the fix in 3.29.3: "Modifiers on Small Cluster Jewels that grant single attributes can now be swapped with the Genteel's Ducat." If you were holding small cluster jewels back for this fix, they are now eligible. Check the in-game tooltip to confirm the swap will apply before spending the Ducat.

Why the Deep Altar buff makes Allflame crafting worth it

Ducats aren't the only reason to run the seafloor. Deep Altars grant Blessings that convert your common currency into rarer currency — and 3.29.2 more than doubled the payout. Straight from the patch notes:

"Blessings granted by Offerings to the Deep Altars now grant a 10% chance for certain common currencies to be converted to rarer currencies (from 4%)."

That's a jump from a 4% to a 10% conversion chance, and the Altar now displays the conversion chance on the Offering so you can see it before you commit. Because Blessings apply to all nearby players, this is also one of the best group-farming buffs in the league. Combined with two more 3.29.1 quality-of-life wins — Allflame crafting now accepts Ancient Orbs and Orbs of Chance, and Chart trade-market gold fees were slashed so buying Charts is cheap — the Allflame loop is a legitimate contender for the most profitable mechanic of the league. Ducat crafting: a practical order of operations

Don't spend Ducats at random. A reliable workflow:

• Farm the base first. Get a rare item with at least one standout modifier from your normal mapping or a Chart. Ducats are finishers, not starters.
• Isolate with Kishara's. If your base has one great mod buried in junk, split it and keep the clean copy.
• Fix usability with Genteel's. Wrong attribute requirement for your class? Swap it — just not on a small cluster jewel yet.
• Add power with Brinehook's or Ukatoa's. Grant an Aspect on an eligible base, or upgrade a rare amulet's implicit to Eldritch.
• Verify value before selling. Ducat and crafted-item prices move daily. Check poe.ninja before you list, and if you need liquid trade currency fast, it's often quicker to buy Chaos or Divine Orbs than to flip a half-finished craft.

What are Cursed Ducats and how do they work? Cursed Ducats are a new currency type added in Patch 3.29.3 that you socket into the Voyage Planner (not the item crafting bench). Up to three can be slotted at once; each one adds stacking Toughness, Item Quantity, and Item Rarity to monsters inside your Charts and Voyages plus a unique difficulty modifier. Are Ducats trade currency like Chaos or Divine Orbs? No. Ducats are Allflame crafting currencies used at The Sovereign for specific item effects. You can trade them between players, but you don't price items in Ducats — Chaos and Divine remain the trade currencies. Treat Ducats as recipe items, not money.

How do I get Ducats in PoE 3.29? Run the Curse of the Allflame mechanic: find Lost Charts in your maps, descend from The Sovereign, and farm Charts (repeatable) or chain 9 Charts into a Voyage for the bigger rewards. Why doesn't The Genteel's Ducat work on my cluster jewel? Because of a known bug. GGG fixed attribute-affix rerolling for large and medium cluster jewels in 3.29.2, but small cluster jewels are still broken and are scheduled for a later patch. Don't spend the Ducat on a small cluster jewel until that fix ships.
