The best solo ship in Star Citizen right now is a Constellation, and the Mk IV Andromeda is the one most solo players should buy with aUEC. It gives one pilot four forward guns, a real cargo bay, beds and enough shield to survive mistakes. But "best" depends on what you do all evening, so this guide ranks the strongest one-pilot ships in Alpha 4.10.2 by role, shows what each costs in-game, and tells you plainly what you give up when nobody is sitting in your turrets.
Quick answer (Alpha 4.10.2): Best all-rounder: Constellation Mk IV Andromeda (~9.65M aUEC, 96 SCU, 100,000 shield HP). Best budget all-rounder: Drake Cutlass Black (~2.01M aUEC, 46 SCU). Most pilot firepower of the aUEC-buyable multi-role picks: Drake Corsair (~6.22M aUEC, about 7,830 pilot DPS). Best solo hauler: Constellation Mk IV Taurus (174 SCU, ~7.64M aUEC) or Zeus Mk II CL (128 SCU, ~6.46M aUEC). Best solo money-makers: Prospector for mining and Vulture for salvage, both true one-seaters under 3M aUEC. The new Constellation Mk V Centaurus is the strongest of the lot but is pledge-store only; you cannot buy it with aUEC in 4.10.2. aUEC can be wiped in a future patch, so treat in-game purchases as a loan, not an heirloom.
What does "solo ship" actually mean in Star Citizen?
Almost any ship can be flown by one person. The real question is how much of the ship still works when you are alone. In Star Citizen, the pilot controls the nose guns, missiles, shields and flight. Manned turrets need a second player. Remote turrets can be slaved to a seat, but you can't fly and run them at full effect at the same time. So when you size up a solo ship, look at four things:
- Pilot-controlled firepower. Turret DPS is worth zero when nobody is in the turret. A ship with strong nose guns beats a ship with a bigger total loadout that lives in turrets.
- Shields and hull. Without a gunner covering your back, you tank more hits. More shield HP buys you time to disengage.
- Cargo and utility you can run yourself. Cargo grids, beds (log out on board), and room for a vehicle or a medical bed all make a ship a solo "home."
- How you can get it. A ship that is pledge-only or a limited event reward is not the best ship for you if you're earning aUEC.
All in-game prices below are player-reported terminal prices from UEX (mostly sampled at New Deal in Lorville, 2026-10-02 to 2026-10-20). All specs (shields, cargo, pilot DPS, missiles) come from the Star Citizen Wiki's game data for build 4.10.2-LIVE: see the Andromeda, Taurus, Corsair, Cutlass Black, Zeus Mk II CL and Centaurus pages. Prices drift every balance patch, so confirm at an in-game terminal before you buy.
Which is the best solo ship in Star Citizen Alpha 4.10.2?
Here is the full shortlist at a glance. "Pilot DPS" is the damage per second of the weapons the pilot fires directly, using stock guns.
| Ship | Best solo role | In-game price (aUEC) | Cargo (SCU) | Shield HP | Pilot DPS (stock) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Constellation Mk IV Andromeda | All-rounder, PvE combat | ~9,652,610 | 96 | 100,000 | ~4,910 |
| Constellation Mk IV Taurus | Hauling with teeth | ~7,641,650 | 174 | 72,000 | ~4,910 |
| Drake Corsair | Combat-heavy explorer | ~6,224,400 | 72 | 100,000 | ~7,831 |
| RSI Zeus Mk II CL | Solo cargo runs | ~6,463,800 | 128 | 14,400 | ~2,731 |
| Drake Cutlass Black | Budget do-everything | ~2,010,960 | 46 | 7,200 | ~2,798 |
| MISC Prospector | Solo mining | ~2,783,020 | n/a (ore pods) | n/a | n/a |
| Drake Vulture | Solo salvage | ~2,513,700 | 12 | n/a | n/a |
| Constellation Mk V Centaurus | Everything (if you pledge) | Not buyable with aUEC | 240 | 200,000 | ~9,274 |
Two numbers explain most of the ranking. The Mk IV Constellations put about 4,910 DPS in the pilot's hands from four forward repeaters, which is roughly 1.75 times what a Cutlass Black pilot fires. And the Andromeda carries 100,000 shield HP, almost 14 times the Cutlass Black's 7,200. That gap is what lets one player survive PvE fights that would end a smaller ship.
Is the Constellation soloable after the 4.10.2 rework?
Yes, and this is the question r/starcitizen keeps asking this week. Alpha 4.10.2 rebuilt the whole Constellation Mk IV line (Andromeda, Aquila, Taurus, Phoenix) to CIG's current "Gold Standard," with new bridge glass, a rebuilt cargo lift and grid, and a HUD that now surfaces self-destruct, port and shield prompts (per the 4.10.2 update notes on starcitizen.tools). Nothing in that rework took firepower away from the pilot seat.
One veteran player summed up the mood in a 2026-10-23 r/starcitizen thread: "I've run lots of different ships solo for years now and always come back to the Connie. It's not too small so you have plenty of space and it's not too big so as to be unwieldy." Another put it more bluntly: "Currently probably a second best ship for PVE after Mk5, so definitely soloable without problems."
What you lose solo: the Andromeda and Taurus each have two manned turrets (per the Wiki's 4.10.2 data). Alone, that's dead weight, and the Andromeda's extra turret DPS (it has double the Taurus's turret guns) does nothing for you. You also fly a big target, so pick fights you can win from the front.
Andromeda vs Taurus: which Connie should a solo player buy?
- Andromeda (~9.65M aUEC): 96 SCU, 100,000 shield HP, and 52 missiles across eight racks. This is the combat Connie. Pick it if your evenings are bounty contracts, mission chains and the odd haul.
- Taurus (~7.64M aUEC): 174 SCU, 72,000 shield HP and 24 missiles. Same four pilot guns, nearly double the cargo, about 2M aUEC cheaper. Pick it if you mostly trade and want to defend yourself without running.
The Aquila (~11.58M) and Phoenix (~14.08M) are also buyable, but for one pilot the extra cost buys exploration or luxury features rather than solo power.
What is the best budget solo ship?
The Drake Cutlass Black, at about 2.01M aUEC. It has been the default answer for years, and Alpha 4.10.2 hasn't changed that. You get four pilot guns (two Mantis GT-220 Gatlings and two Panther repeaters on stock loadout), 16 missiles, 46 SCU of cargo, a bed and a rear ramp. It is quick for its size (about 217 m/s SCM) and lands almost anywhere.
The trade-off is survivability. Its 7,200 shield HP disappears quickly in a fair fight, so treat it as a mission runner and light hauler, not a brawler. If you are still on a starter and want your first real upgrade, the Cutlass Black is the cheapest ship on this list that does everything. Our best starter ship guide covers which package to start with.
Which solo ship has the most firepower?
Among the aUEC-buyable multi-role ships in this guide, the Drake Corsair. Four M6A cannons headline a stock pilot-side loadout the Wiki rates at about 7,830 DPS, with a much heavier alpha strike than the Constellation's repeaters. It also has 100,000 shield HP and 72 SCU of cargo, at ~6.22M aUEC, which is cheaper than an Andromeda.
So why isn't it #1? Handling and missiles. The Corsair carries only 8 missiles to the Andromeda's 52. Its wide, articulated wing guns are also less forgiving than the Connie's for players who aren't confident pilots. One player in the same thread put the Corsair as a "contender for the 1st or 2nd slot." If you mostly fight and rarely haul, the Corsair is arguably the better buy.
If you want a pure fighter rather than a ship you can live in, a single-seat Aegis Gladius (~2.26M aUEC) is still the most efficient solo dogfighter, and the RSI Scorpius (~5.17M) hits harder if you accept that its turret sits idle. Full rankings are in our best combat ship guide, and if bounties are your loop, see the bounty hunting guide.
What is the best solo hauling ship?
It depends on whether you want to carry cargo or carry cargo and fight.
- Constellation Mk IV Taurus: 174 SCU for ~7.64M aUEC, with the Connie's four pilot guns and 72,000 shields. Best if you run contested routes and want to shoot back.
- RSI Zeus Mk II CL: 128 SCU for ~6.46M aUEC, about 1.2M less than a Taurus. Far thinner shields (14,400 shield HP) and only two pilot guns, so it's best for high-security trade runs where you rarely need to fight.
- MISC Freelancer MAX: 120 SCU for about 4.04M aUEC. The cheap option if 174 SCU isn't in your budget yet.
Remember that Alpha 4.10 added commodity containers to Long Term Persistence, so cargo you buy now carries forward patch to patch, unlike cargo from before 4.10. For which goods to load, see our best trade routes for Alpha 4.10.1 and the hauling contracts guide.
What are the best solo ships for mining and salvage?
These are the two industrial loops with a dedicated one-seat ship, so a single player can run them end to end.
- MISC Prospector (~2.78M aUEC): the solo miner. One seat, one mining laser, ore pods built in. It is the most proven solo money-maker in the game. Our Alpha 4.10.1 mining guide walks through rocks, modules and refinery timing.
- Drake Vulture (~2.51M aUEC): the solo salvager. One seat, 12 SCU of hull-scraping storage, and it's also sold at Buy and Fly terminals in Pyro stations. Salvage needs no combat, which makes it the lowest-stress solo income. See the salvage guide.
Bigger industrial ships (MOLE, Reclaimer) technically fly with one person but are built for crews, with extra mining heads or salvage stations that only work when someone sits in them. Solo, most of that capacity goes unused.
Is the Constellation Mk V Centaurus worth it for solo players?
It's the strongest solo ship in this guide on paper, but you can't buy it with aUEC. Per the Wiki's 4.10.2 data, the Centaurus has 240 SCU of cargo, 200,000 shield HP (double the Andromeda), about 9,274 pilot DPS, two remote turrets and 32 missiles. It also carries an RSI Skylark snub. RSI's store copy describes it this way:
"The RSI Constellation Mk V Centaurus combines heavy weaponry, a sizable cargo capacity, and an on-board snub fighter to ensure you can tackle any challenge, anywhere in the galaxy." (RSI pledge store)
What you need to know before chasing it:
- It is a real-money pledge ship. Since mid-October 2026 the RSI store has listed standalone Centaurus pledges, including a Warbond version (Warbond pledges cannot be bought with store credit). Check the store for the current price.
- It is not sold at any in-game terminal in 4.10.2. UEX has no aUEC buy listing for it.
- The free rental is over. During RSI Discovery Month (2026-10-09 to about 2026-10-20), completing the Constellation Rental Offer contract gave five days of rental access to the Centaurus and the Skylark. That event has ended.
For the full background, see our Constellation Mk V Centaurus guide. If you got the rental and had trouble with the snub, the Skylark redock fix covers it.
Which solo ship should you buy first?
A simple progression that works for most players in Alpha 4.10.2:
- Under 3M aUEC: pick a Cutlass Black if you want to do a bit of everything, or a Prospector or Vulture if you want one dependable income loop.
- 6M to 8M aUEC: step up to a Taurus for hauling, a Corsair if you mostly fight, or a Zeus Mk II CL for safe trade runs.
- Around 10M aUEC: the Andromeda is the best one-pilot home ship you can buy in-game today.
The fastest ways to get there are in our how to make aUEC fast guide. One warning on shortcuts: RSI's Terms of Service ban selling in-game resources outside the game, paid power-leveling, selling "Game credits" and selling or transferring accounts. Penalties are at RSI's discretion and can include account termination. Earn the aUEC in-game. Also remember aUEC is test currency: Alpha 4.10.2 was a no-wipe patch, but the last full wipe was Alpha 4.8 on 2026-05-14, and CIG doesn't reimburse wiped aUEC or aUEC-bought ships.
FAQ
What is the best solo ship in Star Citizen in 2026? In Alpha 4.10.2, the best solo ship you can buy with aUEC is the Constellation Mk IV Andromeda (~9.65M aUEC): four pilot guns, 52 missiles, 100,000 shield HP and 96 SCU. The pledge-only Constellation Mk V Centaurus is stronger, but it isn't sold in-game.
What is the best cheap solo ship? The Drake Cutlass Black at about 2.01M aUEC. It does combat, light hauling (46 SCU) and missions, and has a bed. For pure income, the Prospector (mining) or Vulture (salvage) cost under 3M and are true one-seaters.
Can you solo a Constellation? Yes. The pilot controls all four forward guns and the missiles, so the Mk IV is fully playable alone. You lose the two manned turrets without a crew. Players in this week's r/starcitizen threads rate it one of the best solo ships after the 4.10.2 Gold Standard rework.
What is the best solo ship for bounty hunting? For low and mid-tier bounties, a Gladius or Cutlass Black is enough. For harder PvE bounties, the Andromeda (missile volume and shields) or the Corsair (the highest pilot DPS of the aUEC-buyable multi-role ships here) let one pilot finish targets that would overwhelm a light fighter.
Is a big ship worth it if I play alone? Usually only up to about Constellation size. Beyond that, more of the ship depends on crew stations, handling gets slower and landing gets harder, so a solo pilot uses less of what they paid for. In this week's r/starcitizen threads, players repeatedly named the Constellation as the upper end of what feels comfortable to solo.
Will my aUEC ship survive the next patch? Alpha 4.10.2 carried over earned aUEC and in-game-bought ships through Long Term Persistence. CIG can still wipe aUEC and in-game purchases in any future patch with no reimbursement. Pledged ships are account-bound and are not wiped.
