Tarkov PvE Prestige (1.2.0.0): How the New PvE Reset Works, What You Keep & Is It Worth Wiping Your Character (2026)

Escape from Tarkov's PvE mode is finally getting its own Prestige system in update 1.2.0.0, due late September/early October 2026. Because PvE never gets a seasonal wipe, Prestige is the only way a PvE player will ever reset their character — a voluntary restart from level 1 with an empty stash and a torn-down Hideout, in exchange for permanent, wipe-proof rewards. This guide breaks down exactly what's confirmed for PvE, how Tarkov's Prestige mechanic works today in PvP (the model PvE's version is expected to mirror), the requirements and rewards, and the one question that actually matters: should you press the button?

Quick answer: PvE Prestige lands in patch 1.2.0.0 (late Sept/early Oct 2026). When you Prestige you drop to level 1, wipe your stash, quests, traders and Hideout, and keep only your achievements, statistics, your permanent Prestige level, a percentage of skills + weapon mastering, and a small set of carried-over items. In return you get a permanent profile icon, unique armband/dogtag, a melee weapon, Hideout cosmetics, and +1 daily / +1 weekly task forever. For a no-wipe PvE character it's a huge, irreversible decision — do it for the prestige rewards and a fresh grind, not by accident.

What's actually confirmed for PvE Prestige in 1.2.0.0

Battlestate Games revealed its full 2026 roadmap on August 27, 2026. Per the roadmap coverage, update 1.2.0.0 is primarily focused on the PvE game mode and lands in the late-September/early-October window, right after September's 1.1.5.0 Lighthouse rework. According to Forbes' report on the roadmap, 1.2.0.0 "will introduce the prestige mode for PvE players, and improve the raid reconnection system for everyone."

Here's what BSG has confirmed for the update:

  • PvE Prestige — PvE gets its own separate Prestige system. As the community roadmap breakdowns put it: "PvE isn't getting seasonal wipes, but it is getting its own separate Prestige system." Prestige becomes PvE's substitute for a wipe.
  • Bot spawn + AI overhaul — a rework of the PvE bot spawn system and AI behavior (fewer of the awkward group spawns, smarter engagements).
  • Raid reconnection for everyone — the long-requested ability to reconnect to a raid after a disconnect, plus general loading-time improvements around matching and getting back in.

What BSG has not published yet: the exact PvE Prestige requirements (level, quests, roubles) and the precise item-carryover numbers for PvE. Those are expected to mirror the live PvP Prestige system below, but treat the specific gates as "current PvP values" until the 1.2.0.0 patch notes drop. Current live build is Season 1 "Kord Breach" (patch 1.1.0.x) — Prestige for PvE does not exist in your client yet.

How Tarkov Prestige works (the PvP model PvE will mirror)

Prestige has existed in PvP since patch 0.16. Per the official Escape from Tarkov Wiki, the system "allows players to start the game again from the beginning, only keeping their profile statistics, achievements, Arena ARP rating and armory progress as well as a percentage of character skills and weapon mastering." Crucially: "Prestige levels and rewards persist throughout game profile resets and remain forever." A seasonal wipe cannot take your Prestige away.

Think of it as Tarkov's New Game Plus. You voluntarily hit reset, but you carry a permanent badge and a handful of perks into the new run. While rebuilding after Prestige, the Tarkov Cultist Circle guide covers one of the fastest ways to restock rare items and roubles early on.

What you KEEP through a Prestige

  • Prestige level — permanent, never reset by wipes.
  • Achievements and profile statistics — your all-time record stays intact.
  • A percentage of character skills and weapon mastering — you don't start skills fully from zero; a slice carries over (the percentage increases with higher Prestige).
  • A small amount of specific items — a limited carryover, and the amount and allowed item types increase with each Prestige level.
  • All the permanent Prestige rewards you unlocked (see below).

What you LOSE

  • Your level — back to 1.
  • Your stash — emptied (minus the small carryover).
  • Traders — reset to starting loyalty (LL1).
  • Quests — reset; you re-run the quest tree.
  • Hideout — modules reset and must be rebuilt.

As one r/EscapefromTarkov thread on the requirements bluntly summarized the trade: "It resets stash but you can carry stuff over." That single line is the whole decision — a hard reset with a parachute.

PvE Prestige requirements (expected to mirror PvP)

BSG hasn't confirmed PvE-specific gates yet, so these are the current live PvP Prestige 1 requirements (via the "New Beginning" quest and the official Wiki). Expect the PvE version to look similar:

RequirementPrestige 1 (current PvP values)
Character level~Level 55
Quest progressComplete the majority of quests, including Collector (Kappa line)
Hideout modulesIntelligence Center L2, Security L3, Rest Space L3
Roubles in stash~2,000,000 ₽ (via the New Beginning quest)
"New Beginning" objectivesEliminate 50 Scavs · Survive & extract from The Lab · Hand over a PMC, Scav, Boss and Trader figurine

Prestige 2 requires you to have completed Prestige 1 first, then clear an even steeper gate (higher Hideout tiers, higher skill thresholds, more tasks). Very few players reach it.

The requirements are deliberately end-game — reaching Prestige means you've essentially "finished" a character. On PvE, where the same character can live forever, expect that finish-line framing to be even more pronounced.

What are the Prestige rewards?

The official Escape from Tarkov Prestige 2 emblem — each prestige level unlocks a unique, permanent icon, armband and dogtag

The rewards are cosmetic-plus-quality-of-life, and they are permanent. Per the official Wiki and community guides, each Prestige level grants:

  • A special icon next to your nickname and in your profile, marking your Prestige level.
  • A unique main-menu background.
  • A unique armband and dogtag style.
  • Hideout styles and posters for customization.
  • New PMC gestures and mannequin poses (the Prestige 2 "Slav Squat" pose is a fan favorite).
  • A special melee weapon — Prestige 2 unlocks the Akula Push Dagger.
  • +1 additional daily task and +1 additional weekly task — more reward income every single day, forever.
  • +1 Charisma skill level, granted at the start of each new season.

That "+1 daily / +1 weekly task" perk is the sleeper: it quietly boosts your long-term income and rep gains on every future character. For a permanent PvE profile, those extra tasks compound over months.

Is PvE Prestige worth it?

This is the real question, and PvE changes the math versus PvP.

In PvP, Prestige is semi-forced by wipes — you're going to lose your progress anyway when the season resets, so Prestiging on the way out is close to free. In PvE, nothing ever forces a reset. Your level-55, fully-kitted, Bitcoin-farming character can live indefinitely. So Prestige becomes a purely voluntary choice to burn everything you built.

Prestige on PvE if:

  • You've done everything — Kappa, quests, a maxed Hideout — and the game feels "solved." Prestige is fresh content: the early-wipe experience, but chosen on your terms.
  • You want the permanent rewards, especially the +1 daily/+1 weekly task income buff and the profile icon.
  • You enjoy the early-game power curve (scav-runs, budget kits, that first Labs key) more than late-game hoarding.

Do NOT Prestige on PvE if:

  • You value your stash, your GPU-farm, and your progress more than a cosmetic badge. There is no wipe coming to "justify" it.
  • You're mid-progression. Prestige is an end-game victory lap, not a shortcut.
  • You pressed the button by accident — it is irreversible.

The honest verdict: PvE Prestige is end-game replay value, not progression. Treat it like starting a hard-mode playthrough of a game you've already beaten.

FAQ

When does PvE Prestige release in Tarkov? It's part of update 1.2.0.0, scheduled for late September / early October 2026 per Battlestate Games' 2026 roadmap (revealed August 27, 2026). It arrives after September's 1.1.5.0 Lighthouse rework. The current live build is Season 1 "Kord Breach" (1.1.0.x), which does not have PvE Prestige yet.

Does PvE get seasonal wipes like PvP? No. PvE keeps one permanent character with no forced wipe. That's the whole reason it's getting a separate Prestige system — Prestige becomes the only way a PvE player can voluntarily reset for a fresh start and the permanent rewards.

What do you keep when you Prestige? Your Prestige level (permanent), achievements and statistics, a percentage of character skills and weapon mastering, all unlocked Prestige rewards, and a small amount of carried-over items — the carryover amount and allowed item types grow with each Prestige level.

What do you lose when you Prestige? Your character level (back to 1), your stash, trader loyalty, quest progress, and Hideout modules. It is voluntary and irreversible, so don't do it by accident.

Are the PvE Prestige requirements the same as PvP? BSG hasn't published PvE-specific requirements yet. Expect them to mirror the live PvP Prestige 1 gate: ~level 55, the Collector/Kappa quest line, Intelligence Center L2 + Security L3 + Rest Space L3, and ~2,000,000 roubles via the New Beginning quest. Confirm against the 1.2.0.0 patch notes when they drop.

Is PvE Prestige worth it? Only if you've effectively "finished" your PvE character and want fresh early-game content plus permanent rewards (profile icon, unique armband/dogtag, melee weapon, and the +1 daily/+1 weekly task income buff). Since nothing forces a PvE reset, it's a victory-lap choice, not a progression shortcut.
