ZZZ Miyabi Build: Best W-Engine, Drive Discs and Teams (Version 3.2)

ZZZ Miyabi Build: Best W-Engine, Drive Discs and Teams (Version 3.2)

Quick answer: Build Hoshimi Miyabi around CRIT Rate first, not Anomaly Proficiency. Her Core Passive converts up to 80% CRIT Rate directly into Frost Anomaly Buildup Rate, which makes CRIT Rate the only stat on her sheet that pays twice. Best-in-slot is her signature Hailstorm Shrine with a 4-piece Branch & Blade Song / 2-piece Polar Metal disc layout, main stats CRIT Rate (Partition 4) / Ice DMG (5) / Anomaly Mastery (6). Best team is the Section 6 core: Miyabi + Tsukishiro Yanagi + Soukaku. If you do not have her signature, Fusion Compiler is the strongest permanently available substitute — and Timeweaver, which most generic Anomaly lists recommend, has a clause that does literally nothing on her.

One thing to settle first: Miyabi is not obtainable right now. Version 3.2's Phase II channels are Roxy and Promeia. Her last Signal Search closed on 2025-08-06, 424 days before this article was written.

Can you still pull Hoshimi Miyabi in Zenless Zone Zero?

No — and the gap is unusual enough to be worth a number.

Miyabi has appeared in exactly two Signal Searches ever, both named Honed Blade of Reflection:

WindowVersionA-Rank rate-ups
Dec 18, 2024 – Jan 21, 20251.4 (debut)Piper Wheel, Soukaku
Jul 16, 2025 – Aug 6, 20252.1 (rerun)Piper Wheel, Billy Kid

That is it. Her debut-to-rerun gap was 210 days. Since the rerun ended, 424 days have passed with no third channel.

For scale: 26 Agents have received a second Exclusive Channel, and those gaps run from a floor of 133 days to a ceiling of 273, median 189. Miyabi is well beyond that ceiling waiting on a third appearance — a different measurement, but one with no precedent above it. Anyone publishing a return date for her is guessing.

So build planning for Miyabi is preparation, not purchasing. Bank Polychrome and read the rest as a shopping list for the day the notice posts. Version 3.2 ends soon — HoYoverse's Version 3.2 update announcement states it "will run for 42 days, ending on 2026/10/21 06:00 (UTC+8)" — so the next reveal is close even if her name is not on it. Our ZZZ 3.3 timeline tracks what is confirmed.

Why Miyabi's build does not look like any other Anomaly Agent's

Most Anomaly guides tell you to ignore CRIT. On Miyabi that advice is actively wrong, and the reason is her attribute.

Frost is unique to her. Four Attributes in the game have exactly one occupant — Frost, Auric Ink (Yixuan), Honed Edge (Ye Shunguang) and Lumiflux (Remielle Dan) — and Frost is the oldest of them, alone for 21 months since Version 1.4. Mechanically it is grouped with Ice but tracked separately: Frost Anomaly Buildup fills its own independent gauge, and because Frost and Ice are counted apart, they can trigger Disorder against each other when applied at the same time.

Hoshimi Miyabi unleashing her Ultimate Lingering Snow in Zenless Zone Zero

Her Core Passive, Searing Cold, is where the build comes from. The in-game Agent introduction describes it directly:

"When Hoshimi Miyabi uses her Special Attack and other skills to deal Frost DMG, she applies Icefire to the target. When accumulating Frost Anomaly Buildup against targets with Icefire, Hoshimi Miyabi's Frost Anomaly Buildup Rate increases with her CRIT Rate."

The skill text puts a number on it: her Frost Anomaly Buildup against an Icefire target increases by 100% of her CRIT Rate, capped at +80%. So 80% CRIT Rate is a hard build target, not a comfort threshold — every point up to 80 buys both bigger direct hits and faster anomaly triggers, and every point past 80 only buys the first.

Two stat names get swapped constantly here, so to be exact:

  • Anomaly Mastery affects how fast you fill an anomaly gauge. One point equals 1% Anomaly Buildup Rate.
  • Anomaly Proficiency affects how hard the anomaly hits. One point equals 1% Attribute Anomaly DMG.

It reads backwards from the names, and it decides the slot choices below.

The rest of her kit is a Fallen Frost economy. She caps at 6 Fallen Frost and starts combat with 3. Her EX Special, Hisetsu, grants +2 for 40 Energy and another +2 if you press again for the follow-up. Her Ultimate grants +3 plus 30% Ice DMG for 12 seconds. Frostburn - Break returns 1 Fallen Frost, once every 10 seconds.

You spend all of it on one button. Basic Attack: Shimotsuki requires 2 or more Fallen Frost to enter its stance, consumes 2 per charge level to a maximum of 3 levels, and leaves her invulnerable throughout. A level-three slash scales from 2,141.1% at skill Lv. 1 to 4,282.8% at Lv. 12, reaching 5,061.6% at Lv. 16. That single multiplier is the reason her build has a CRIT component at all.

What is the best W-Engine for Miyabi?

Hailstorm Shrine, her signature, and the margin is wider than the usual signature premium — because its advanced stat is the exact stat her Core Passive converts.

Hailstorm Shrine W-Engine, the signature W-Engine for Hoshimi Miyabi

Hailstorm Shrine carries Frost-Stained Star: CRIT DMG plus an Ice DMG buff that stacks twice for 15 seconds whenever she uses an EX Special or any squad member applies an Attribute Anomaly. Its refinement values, written P1 to P5 (W-Engines use P-levels; only Agents use Mindscapes):

RefinementCRIT DMGIce DMG per stack (max 2)
P150%20%
P257%23%
P365%26%
P472%29%
P580%32%

The 24% CRIT Rate is the real prize. On most Agents a signature's advanced stat is a damage rounding error; here it is roughly a third of the 80% she needs to cap Searing Cold.

Fusion Compiler is the substitute worth planning around, and it is permanently available — it sits in the Star-Studded Cast pool and is a selectable non-rate-up option on every W-Engine Channel, so it never goes away. It gives ATK +12% to +24% and Anomaly Proficiency +25 to +50 per stack, up to 3 stacks, triggered by Special or EX Special Attacks. Miyabi presses her EX Special twice per rotation by design, so she holds all three stacks almost permanently: +75 Anomaly Proficiency at P1, +150 at P5.

Timeweaver is the trap. It has the second-highest base ATK of the group and every generic "best Anomaly W-Engine" list recommends it, because it is a dedicated Anomaly engine. But its headline clause reads "the equipper's Electric Anomaly Buildup Rate increases by 30%" — it is Tsukishiro Yanagi's signature, and Miyabi deals no Electric damage whatsoever. That 30–50% is dead text on her. What survives is Anomaly Proficiency +75 to +115 and a Disorder DMG bonus gated at 375 Anomaly Proficiency — real, but most of a top-tier engine's budget spent on half an effect. Prefer Fusion Compiler.

On a budget, Rainforest Gourmet is the honest answer and it is free from the permanent Star-Studded Cast banner: +2.5% to +4% ATK per 10 Energy consumed, stacking 10 times. Miyabi's full EX Special chain spends 80 Energy, which fills 8 stacks instantly. Our ZZZ W-Engine tier list covers how these rank across the rest of the roster.

What are the best Drive Discs for Miyabi?

Run 4-piece Branch & Blade Song with 2-piece Polar Metal.

Read this part carefully: Branch & Blade Song is a documented trap on other Anomaly Agents and is correct on Miyabi — for a reason unrelated to either being "an Anomaly Agent."

The set gives CRIT DMG +16% at 2-piece. Its 4-piece grants CRIT DMG +30% while Anomaly Mastery is at or above 115 points, plus CRIT Rate +12% for 15 seconds whenever any squad member applies Freeze or triggers Shatter. On a pure anomaly damage dealer like Promeia, both halves pay out in CRIT while her damage arrives as Attribute Anomaly DMG — the set looks purpose-built and underperforms.

Miyabi inverts it twice over. Her damage arrives substantially through Shimotsuki, a direct-damage Basic Attack that crits normally. And the 4-piece's CRIT Rate trigger — Freeze and Shatter — is something she causes herself, which then feeds Searing Cold's CRIT-Rate-to-buildup conversion. The CRIT Rate is a buildup-rate buff in disguise.

The 115 Anomaly Mastery gate is a genuine constraint: Anomaly Mastery is not in the Drive Disc sub-stat pool, so it cannot be farmed. Your supply is the Partition 6 main stat, a handful of W-Engines, and her Core Skill Enhancement — which is why Partition 6 is spoken for.

For the other two pieces:

  • Polar Metal — 2-piece Ice DMG +10%; 4-piece increases Basic Attack and Dash Attack DMG by 20%, rising by another 20% for 12 seconds when any squad member inflicts Freeze or Shatter. Shimotsuki is a Basic Attack, so the 4-piece is up to +40% on her main damage button. If you would rather not chase the Anomaly Mastery threshold, 4-piece Polar Metal with 2-piece Branch & Blade Song is the simpler, nearly-as-strong build.
  • Notes From the Chained — 2-piece Ice DMG +10%; 4-piece gives +16% All-Attribute Anomaly DMG and Disorder DMG for 30s on triggering Freeze. The Disorder-leaning option, best in a team actively generating Disorder.
  • Woodpecker Electro — 2-piece CRIT Rate +8%, a clean filler while you farm.

Main stats, using the correct partition pools:

PartitionMain statWhy
4CRIT Rate %Feeds Searing Cold up to the 80% cap
5Ice DMG Bonus %Her Frost damage is Ice damage
6Anomaly Mastery %The only farmable route to the 115 gate

Sub-stat priority: CRIT Rate until 80%, then CRIT DMG, then ATK%, then Anomaly Proficiency. Full set breakdowns live in our best ZZZ Drive Discs guide.

What is the best Miyabi team?

Miyabi + Tsukishiro Yanagi + Soukaku. The reason is a conditional in her Additional Ability that a lot of team builders quietly fail.

Bask in Frost reads: when another character in your squad is a Support or Anomaly character, or shares the same Faction, Shimotsuki DMG increases by 60%. Separately, when any squad member triggers Disorder, Miyabi gains 2 Fallen Frost and her next Shimotsuki ignores 30% of the target's Ice RES.

Hoshimi Miyabi and Soukaku of Hollow Special Operations Section 6

So the gate is Support, Anomaly, or Faction — and Miyabi's Faction is Hollow Special Operations Section 6, which has exactly four Agents:

AgentAttributeSpecialtySatisfies Bask in Frost via
Hoshimi MiyabiFrostAnomaly—
Tsukishiro YanagiElectricAnomalyAnomaly and Faction
SoukakuIceSupportSupport and Faction
Asaba HarumasaElectricAttackFaction only

Yanagi is the mechanical ideal: she is an Anomaly Agent, she is Section 6, and her Electric anomalies collide with Miyabi's Frost anomalies to produce Disorder, which triggers the second clause. Soukaku is Ice, which Frost is tracked separately from — so she can also enable Disorder, while being a Support and a Faction member. Soukaku was on Miyabi's debut banner, which is not a coincidence.

The common mistake. A popular pairing right now is Miyabi with Nangong Yu, and the combo is genuinely good — her abilities during Stun cause Disorder, which hands Miyabi Fallen Frost, and swapping to her EX Specials mid-stun refills Frost before you swap back for the Shimotsuki payoff. But Nangong Yu is Ether / Stun / Angels of Delusion. She is not a Support, not an Anomaly Agent, and not Section 6 — so she satisfies none of Bask in Frost's three conditions. Run Miyabi and Nangong Yu as a duo and you are playing without 60% Shimotsuki DMG.

The fix costs nothing: make slot three a Support, an Anomaly Agent, or a Section 6 member. Soukaku does it on two counts. Classify slot three by Specialty before locking it — more in our best ZZZ teams guide.

For Bangboo, Agent Gulliver is the thematic pick as the Section 6 Bangboo, but its Additional Ability needs two or more Section 6 Agents in the squad, so it only pays in a Miyabi-plus-Yanagi-or-Soukaku core. It is also exclusive to the An Outstanding Partner channel. See our ZZZ Bangboo tier list for the alternatives.

Which Mindscapes and skills matter?

Skill levels first. Shimotsuki's charge-three multiplier doubles from Lv. 1 to Lv. 12, so Basic Attack is the priority, followed by Special Attack for the Fallen Frost generation, then Chain Attack. Her Core Skill Enhancement gives Anomaly Proficiency +30 three times and Base ATK +25 twice — worth maxing early because it is also an Anomaly Mastery contributor toward the 115 gate.

Of the Mindscapes, M2 is the standout: it grants +15% CRIT Rate and a full 6 Fallen Frost on entering the battlefield, which is the single most efficient step toward the 80% CRIT Rate cap anywhere in her kit. M1 gives 6% DEF ignore per Fallen Frost consumed, up to 36%, during Shimotsuki Stance. M4 adds 30% Frostburn - Break DMG. M3 and M5 are both the standard skill Lv. +2, and M6 adds Polar, a 30% Shimotsuki DMG increase plus up to three automatic draw-slashes per stance.

What do you need to farm?

Full costs, so you can check your stock before her banner returns:

  • Promotion, ranks 1 to 5: 800,000 Denny, 4 Basic Anomaly Certification Seals, 32 Advanced Anomaly Certification Seals, 30 Controller Certification Seals.
  • Each skill, Lv. 1 to 12: 500,000 Denny, 5 Basic Freeze Chips, 15 Advanced Freeze Chips, 50 Specialized Freeze Chips, 1 Hamster Cage Pass.
  • Core Skill Enhancement: Higher Dimensional Data: Thunderous Dragon, plus Sycophant's Refinement.

At Lv. 60 she sits at 7,673 HP / 805 ATK / 606 DEF. Where she lands on the wider roster is covered in our ZZZ tier list.

FAQ

Is Miyabi still the best Anomaly Agent in ZZZ? She remains a top-tier Anomaly Agent, and her position is unusually durable for a structural reason: Frost is an attribute unique to her, and in roughly 21 months no second Frost Agent has been released. An attribute with one occupant cannot be power-crept by a same-attribute replacement.

What CRIT Rate should Miyabi have? Aim for 80%. Her Core Passive increases Frost Anomaly Buildup by 100% of her CRIT Rate, capped at +80%, so 80% CRIT Rate is the exact point where the conversion maxes out. Beyond it, CRIT Rate still improves her direct damage but no longer speeds up her anomaly triggers.

Is Hailstorm Shrine necessary for Miyabi? No, but it is a bigger upgrade than most signatures because its advanced stat is CRIT Rate — 24% at maximum refinement, against the 80% she wants. Without it, Fusion Compiler is the best permanently obtainable option, since it is selectable on every W-Engine Channel and in the Star-Studded Cast pool.

Can you get Miyabi in Version 3.2? No. Version 3.2's Phase II Signal Searches feature Roxy and Promeia. Miyabi's only two channels ran in Version 1.4 and Version 2.1, the second closing on 2025-08-06.

Does Miyabi count as an Ice Agent? Her attribute is Frost, which is grouped with Ice and deals Ice DMG, but Frost Anomaly Buildup is tracked on its own separate gauge. That separation is deliberate — it lets her Frost anomalies react with a teammate's Ice anomalies to trigger Disorder.

Is Timeweaver good on Miyabi? Only partly. Its primary clause boosts Electric Anomaly Buildup Rate and does nothing for her, because it is Tsukishiro Yanagi's signature W-Engine. Its Anomaly Proficiency and Disorder components work, but Fusion Compiler delivers more usable value on Miyabi despite a lower base ATK.
