The Coiled Altar Kill

The Coiled Altar Kill Boost

  • 344 ilvl on Mythic
  • Hex Lord's Idol
  • Normal to Mythic

The Coiled Altar is the seventh boss of The Venomous Abyss and one of only two encounters in WoW Midnight Season 2 that can drop 344 item level gear. It is also the sole source of Hex Lord's Dooming Idol, the Intellect on-use trinket that sits at the top of the Shadow Priest list. A Coiled Altar kill at timesaver.gg starts at $89.99 on Normal and runs to $299.99 on Mythic, for up to 15 kills on one order.

What's included

Every order is a full Coiled Altar kill on the difficulty you select, with your character present for the loot.

  • The Coiled Altar killed on Normal, Heroic or Mythic, from $89.99;
  • Between 1 and 15 kills on a single order, across as many resets as it takes;
  • Every item the boss drops for you at your chosen loot-priority level;
  • A chance at Hex Lord's Dooming Idol at the difficulty you buy;
  • The Mythic: The Coiled Altar achievement on the Mythic option;
  • A Great Vault raid slot per kill, plus the Mistcrests the difficulty awards.

Where The Coiled Altar sits in The Venomous Abyss

The Coiled Altar is the first of the two bosses in the Tomb of Ula'tek wing, and it is open from week one on Normal, Heroic and Mythic.

The Venomous Abyss branches into four wings rather than running as one straight line, so there is no fixed kill order to grind through before this boss becomes available:

WingBosses
The SoulcoilersNek'zali the Soulcoiler, The Twin Fangs
The Essence of VenomEntombed Sentinels, Vashnik the Malignant
The Serpent WarrenThe Lost Explorers, Sszorak
The Tomb of Ula'tekThe Coiled Altar, Ula'tek

The Coiled Altar is a long, multi-stage encounter with several boss units rather than a single target — it is the fight that most pug groups stall on before Ula'tek. Wowhead's Coiled Altar boss guide covers the ability list in full.

Loot and item level

The Coiled Altar drops 289 item level on LFR, 302 on Normal, 315 on Heroic and 344 on Mythic.

That Mythic number is the important one: 344 is the Season 2 maximum, and only The Coiled Altar and Ula'tek pay it. Every other Mythic boss in the raid tops out at 318 to 324, and the Myth upgrade track ends at 334. If you want a genuine 344 piece there are exactly two doors, and this is the cheaper of the two.

The Coiled Altar is not one of the six Tier 36 token bosses, so buy this kill for the trinket and the item level rather than for set pieces. Heroic kills award Hero Mistcrests and Mythic kills award Myth Mistcrests, both capped at 100 per week.

Options explained

Three options change what arrives in your bags, and the loot-priority option is the one that matters most on a single-boss order.

  • Difficulty — sets the item level band and therefore the trinket's item level. Mythic is the only 344 option.
  • Number of kills — the trinket is a drop, not a guarantee, so multiple kills across resets is the honest way to chase it.
  • Armor Type & Token Priority — our raiders pass on everything for your armour type and token group.
  • Full Loot Priority — every item the boss drops that your character can use is yours, including the trinket if it appears.

Self-play, piloted or remote

Three completion methods are available and self-play is the default on every raid order.

Self-play puts you in the raid on your own character — you see the kill, you loot the boss, and nobody signs into your account. Piloted hands the character to one of our raiders for the run, which is the practical choice for Mythic where the pull count is unpredictable. Self-play remote costs 30% more and lets you watch and control your own client through remote-desktop software throughout.

Requirements

You need a level 90 character with the Coiled Altar boss unlocked on the difficulty you buy and no existing lockout on it that week.

There is no attunement for Normal, Heroic or Mythic Venomous Abyss, and all eight bosses have been open since week one, so a fresh 90 can be brought straight to this kill. If your character is already saved to The Coiled Altar for the week, we schedule the run after the next reset — Tuesday 15:00 UTC in the US and Oceania, Wednesday 04:00 UTC in Europe. Mythic requires same-region raiding; specify EU or US at checkout. PC only.

How long it takes

A single Coiled Altar kill takes 20 to 45 minutes once the raid is formed.

Normal is usually one or two pulls. Heroic runs longer because of the multi-stage structure, and Mythic is scheduled against our raid nights, so a Mythic order is normally slotted within a few days rather than the same hour. Multi-kill orders spread across consecutive resets, since the boss is lockout-limited to one kill per difficulty per week. Express moves you up the queue for 20% more and Super Express assigns our fastest roster for 40%.

Frequently asked questions

  • 289 on LFR, 302 on Normal, 315 on Heroic and 344 on Mythic. The Mythic figure is the Season 2 maximum — only The Coiled Altar and Ula'tek drop 344 item level gear, and every other Mythic boss in The Venomous Abyss caps between 318 and 324.

  • It is an Intellect on-use trinket that drops from The Coiled Altar and nowhere else. It is a top-tier option for Shadow Priest and was retuned in the 17 August 2026 hotfixes alongside Ula'tek's Font of Venomous Rage. Buying the Mythic kill gets you the 344 item level version.

  • No. Hex Lord's Dooming Idol is a random drop from the boss, so no honest seller can guarantee it in one kill. Order multiple kills across resets and select Full Loot Priority, which means every item the boss drops that your character can equip is passed to you rather than rolled for.

  • $89.99 on Normal, $164.99 on Heroic and $299.99 on Mythic, with up to 15 kills available on a single order. Loot priority upgrades add 30% for Armor Type and Token Priority and 60% for Full Loot Priority. Express and Super Express add 20% and 40% respectively.

  • No. The Venomous Abyss branches into four wings rather than running as a single line, and all eight bosses have been open on Normal, Heroic and Mythic since week one of Season 2. There is no attunement, so a freshly geared level 90 can be taken directly to The Coiled Altar.

  • No. The six Tier 36 token bosses are The Twin Fangs for head, The Lost Explorers for shoulders, Vashnik the Malignant for chest, Entombed Sentinels for hands, Sszorak for legs and Ula'tek for the omni-token. Buy this kill for the trinket and the 344 item level, and use our Tier Set boost for set pieces.

  • Yes — the Heroic option includes a combined Coiled Altar plus Ula'tek package, which is the cheapest route to Ahead of the Curve: Ula'tek if you also want the 315 item level trinket. For the pair on Mythic, order this page and our Ula'tek Kill page together.

  • Once per difficulty per week. The raid lockout resets Tuesday at 15:00 UTC in the US and Oceania and Wednesday at 04:00 UTC in Europe, so a multi-kill order for the trinket spreads across consecutive weeks. Different difficulties have separate lockouts and can be stacked in the same week.

  • Yes. Every raid boss killed counts toward the raid row of the Great Vault, and the vault pays one difficulty band above the drop — Heroic kills give a 318 vault option and Mythic gives 334, or 344 specifically for The Coiled Altar and Ula'tek. Two, four and six boss kills open the three raid slots.

  • Self-play is the default and means you raid on your own character with our team — nobody else logs in. Piloted runs are played manually by a raider on a region-matched VPN, with no bots, automation or third-party software. Self-play remote leaves your client entirely under your own control for 30% more.

  • 20 to 45 minutes from raid formation. Normal is one or two pulls, Heroic is longer because of the encounter's multi-stage structure, and Mythic orders are scheduled against our raid nights rather than started on demand — usually within a few days of purchase, sooner with Express.
