Epic gems arrived with Phase 3 on 27 August 2026, and they are the single biggest stat upgrade available to a geared character. $20.70 per gem, any cut, delivered by in-game mail or trade.
All six, and yes, including red. Crimson Spinel is the gem most services quietly cannot supply — check any rival’s gem page and see whether a red tab exists. Ours does.
- Crimson Spinel — red;
- Empyrean Sapphire — blue;
- Lionseye — yellow;
- Pyrestone — orange;
- Seaspray Emerald — green;
- Shadowsong Amethyst — purple;
- plus the meta diamonds.
Where they come from, and why they are scarce: Blizzard put them on Ancient Gem Veins inside The Battle for Mount Hyjal, which need Mining 375, and as rare drops from Black Temple trash. Jewelcrafters also find them occasionally in Brilliant Glass. The Shattered Sun vendor that sells raw epic gems for Badges of Justice is patch 2.4 content and is not in Phase 3 — anyone telling you to farm badges for gems right now is quoting the wrong patch.
Cuts come from Indormi in Hyjal Summit and are gated by The Scale of the Sands reputation, which is another reason a raid-side service can supply them and a solo player cannot.
