This is a guaranteed mount, not a drop. Nether Rays are bought from a vendor once the reputation is done, so the work is priced on time rather than on luck. That is the whole difference between this and a raid mount like Ashes of Al'ar at roughly 1% a week, where a full clear can end with nothing at all.
What the grind is: 42,000 reputation from Neutral to Exalted, earned on the Sha'tari Skyguard dailies out of Blackwind Landing and Skettis in Terokkar, flown back to back with the Ogri'la dailies in Blade's Edge Mountains. That is about two to three weeks of daily resets — daily-capped, which is exactly why people buy it.
- Ogri'la reputation comes along for free. Ogri'la is a separate faction with its own quartermaster, and because the two daily circuits are run together your standing there climbs at the same time at no extra cost.
- Flying is required. Nether Rays are flying mounts, so Expert Riding (225 skill) is the floor.
