$62.99 per Nether Vortex, farmed on your own character.
Read this before buying it anywhere else: in Phase 3 the Nether Vortex is Bind on Pickup. It only becomes tradeable in patch 2.4, which is phases away. That means nobody can mail it to you, nobody can put it on the auction house, and any shop offering a Nether Vortex delivery is describing a version of the game that is not live. It has to be looted by you, which is why this service is piloted or self-play and has no mail option.
Where it actually drops: Lady Vashj in Serpentshrine Cavern at roughly 88% and Kael'thas Sunstrider in Tempest Keep at roughly 89%, plus trash in both instances at 11-21%. It does not drop in Black Temple or Mount Hyjal — another claim worth checking on rival pages.
Phase 3 made this much easier and that is the reason to buy now. Serpentshrine and Tempest Keep attunements were removed when Phase 3 opened, so a raid can go straight to Vashj and Kael'thas instead of clearing to them.
What it is for: the 375-skill crafted epics — twenty recipes across blacksmithing, tailoring, leatherworking and alchemy, including the alchemist stones and the epic crafted weapons and belts that sit alongside Tier 6.
Buying it from G'eras for badges is Phase 4, not Phase 3. Right now the raid is the only route.
