Tempest Keep no longer needs an attunement — Phase 3 removed it on 27 August 2026, so a group can walk in and go for Kael'thas once the other three are down. Full clear $212.39.
Ashes of Al'ar drops from Kael'thas Sunstrider, not from Al'ar. The name misleads almost everyone, and plenty of shops repeat the mistake. It is the 300% flying phoenix, and it is the single most-wanted item in the instance.
What drops:
- Tier 5 shoulders from Void Reaver and Tier 5 chest from Kael'thas — note it is the chest token, not the helm; the helm is Vashj's;
- The Nexus Key, Rod of the Sun King and Twinblade of the Phoenix from Kael'thas, plus the seven legendary-look encounter weapons his fight hands out;
- Fel Reaver's Piston and Warp-Spring Coil from Void Reaver;
- Kael's Vial Remnant, the second half of the Mount Hyjal attunement.
Phase 3 made this raid mandatory again. Kael'thas is a required kill for the Hyjal attunement, and Al'ar has to be killed while wearing the Ashtongue Cowl as a step of the Black Temple chain. Both new raids route through here.
