EA SPORTS FC 27 is four days past Worldwide Launch — PC unlocked 24 September at 23:00 UTC, every other platform on 25 September — and the Evolutions menu is no longer a free side-quest. Of the 34 Evolutions live in Football Ultimate Team today, 16 have a price on them, and the three most interesting ones do not upgrade your player at all. Here is the full Evolution Store price list, the coins-versus-FC-Points rate that changes from Evo to Evo, and the untradeable rule that turns a 25,000-coin cosmetic into a one-way door.
Quick answer. 34 Evolutions are live in FC 27 Season 1; 18 are free and 16 cost coins or FC Points. Twelve Roles++ Evos (one per position) cost 7,500 coins or 150 FC Points, are repeatable up to 9,999 times and stay open until 25 September 2027. Creative Crossroads costs 15,000 coins or 150 FC Points and closes on 30 September 2026 at 17:00 UTC. The three Ones to Watch Retro 18 / 19 / 20 cosmetics cost 25,000 coins or 200 FC Points each, are one use only, give zero stat upgrades, and close on 21 October 2026 at 18:00 UTC. The exchange rate is not fixed: 50 coins per FC Point on Roles++, 100 on Creative Crossroads, 125 on the Retro cosmetics — so if you are ever paying with Points, pay for a cosmetic, never for Roles++. And every single one puts the card into an Evolution slot, which makes it untradeable.

What is the Evolution Store in FC 27?
The Evolution Store is where EA sells Evolutions for coins or FC Points instead of handing them out through Objectives and the Season Pass. EA named it in the Launch Update Pitch Notes alongside the Season 1 content drop:
"Retro Cosmetic Evolutions inspired by those years will also be available through the Season Ladder and Evolution Store."
— EA SPORTS FC 27 Launch Update Pitch Notes, ea.com
Two things matter in that sentence. Retro Cosmetic Evolutions exist as a product class in FC 27, and they arrive through two different doors — the free Season Ladder and the paid Evolution Store — so the same look can cost you nothing or 25,000 coins depending on which one you reach first. EA Help's Evolutions article is blunt about the step most players skip: "Check the Evolution requirements and any unlock cost before continuing." That unlock cost is charged the moment you submit the card.
How much does every paid Evolution cost in FC 27 right now?
Read live from the FUT.GG Evolutions index on 28 September 2026 at 16:30 UTC. EA publishes no consolidated price list, so these are community-captured values read straight off the live entries — the in-game tile is always the final word.
| Evolution | Coins | FC Points | Uses | Submission closes (UTC) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ones to Watch Retro 20 | 25,000 | 200 | 1 | 21 Oct 2026, 18:00 |
| Ones to Watch Retro 19 | 25,000 | 200 | 1 | 21 Oct 2026, 18:00 |
| Ones to Watch Retro 18 | 25,000 | 200 | 1 | 21 Oct 2026, 18:00 |
| Creative Crossroads | 15,000 | 150 | 1 | 30 Sep 2026, 17:00 |
| GK / CB / LB / RB Roles++ | 7,500 | 150 | 9,999 | 25 Sep 2027, 17:00 |
| CDM / CM / CAM Roles++ | 7,500 | 150 | 9,999 | 25 Sep 2027, 17:00 |
| LM / RM / LW / RW / ST Roles++ | 7,500 | 150 | 9,999 | 25 Sep 2027, 17:00 |
That is 16 paid Evolutions: three cosmetics, one Pathway Evo and twelve Roles++ Evos, one per position including goalkeeper.
EA's own FUT Deep Dive screenshot shows two Evos that are not currently live — Shooting Drills and Defending Drills — priced at 2,500 coins or 100 FC Points each. Not a live price, but proof that cheap paid Evos exist in the rotation.
Why is the coins-to-FC-Points rate different on every Evolution?
This is the part that costs people money. Each Evolution sets its own coin price and its own Points price independently, so the implied exchange rate moves:
- Roles++ — 7,500 coins or 150 FC Points = 50 coins per FC Point
- Creative Crossroads — 15,000 coins or 150 FC Points = 100 coins per FC Point
- Ones to Watch Retro 18 / 19 / 20 — 25,000 coins or 200 FC Points = 125 coins per FC Point
- Shooting / Defending Drills (Deep Dive capture, not live) — 2,500 coins or 100 FC Points = 25 coins per FC Point
Spending Points on a Retro cosmetic buys you 2.5 times more Evolution than spending Points on a Roles++. The rule that falls out of it is simple: if you have FC Points sitting in your account, burn them on the cosmetics and pay coins for Roles++, never the other way round.
In real money, the PlayStation Store US lists 1,050 FC Points at $9.99 and 12,000 at $99.99 at the time of writing. A 200-Point cosmetic is therefore about $1.67–$1.90 and a 150-Point Roles++ about $1.25–$1.43. Whether saving 7,500 coins is worth $1.40 depends on how fast you make coins; if it is not, the best coin-per-hour modes at launch are the honest answer.
Are the Ones to Watch Retro cosmetics worth 25,000 coins?
Mechanically they are the strangest items in the store. FUT.GG's live entry reads: "Turn back the clock and apply the exclusive Ones to Watch Retro 20 rarity to any qualified player." The tracked page lists No requirements, No upgrades, 0 games, 0 wins and a +0 stats boost. You pay, pick a card, the shell changes to the FUT 18, 19 or 20 Ones to Watch design, and nothing else happens.
Three hard numbers to hold against that price:
- 25,000 coins is roughly 38 cards at the 84-rated market floor (about 650 coins each in the first retail week). Those 38 cards carry around 31,540 Item Score — more than the 25,000 needed to hit grade C on the Season 1 (Combined Rarities) Gallery Set, which pays 5 Gallery Tokens.
- All three cosmetics is 75,000 coins for three cards, because each one is capped at a single use.
- The precedent says this got cheaper. r/EASportsFC threads from the FC 25 cycle price the FUT Birthday and TOTS Retro Cosmetic Evolutions at 250 FC Points or 50,000 coins — so FC 27's 200 Points / 25,000 coins is a 20% cut in Points and a 50% cut in coins. Both older figures are community-captured, not EA's.
There is also a free door into the same product class. EA's published Season 1 Regular Pass track puts a Cosmetic EVO Bundle at Level 27 — no Premium purchase required — so a run up the ladder hands you cosmetic Evolutions that the Store charges 25,000 coins for.
The verdict: a fair price for a cosmetic, a terrible use of coins — because of what happens to the card underneath.
What does an Evolution do to your card's tradeability?
This is the rule that turns a cosmetic purchase into a permanent decision, and EA states it in one line in the Evolutions help article:
"Once a Player is submitted to a standard Evolution slot, they become untradeable."
— EA Help, Ultimate Team Evolutions
So the 89-rated card you wanted to make look retro stops being sellable the moment you confirm. EA does give you an exit — "If your Player Item was tradeable before you applied any Evolutions, you can trade it again after you remove all Evolutions" — but it has a toll: "Removing an Evolution is final and can't be undone."
That answers the question doing the rounds on r/EASportsFC this week — whether removing a cosmetic Evo gives the cosmetic back for another player. It does not. You get the base card and its tradeability back; the 25,000 coins and the one use are gone. EA's wording on cancelled Training Camp Evolutions spells out the same principle: "If you cancel, you won't get rewards for the remaining levels or receive back any FC Points or Ultimate Team™ Coins used to access the Evolution." Our walkthrough of un-Evo'ing a card covers what else you never get back.
Two more locks worth knowing before you submit:
- SBCs are closed while the Evo runs. EA: "You can't submit Evolution Players in Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) while they're still in progress." Once the Evolution is complete, the card is eligible again.
- There are two clocks, not one. EA: "Evolutions can have two separate time limits. Look for Get Within X Days and Expires In X Days in-game." The dates in the table above are submission deadlines.

Does a Retro cosmetic change your card's Gallery Item Score?
No — and it is the most expensive misunderstanding in FC 27 this week. A Retro shell makes the card look like a campaign item, but EA's help article is explicit:
"If you apply an Evolution, the Evolution upgrades don't increase its Gallery Item Score or add another version of the Player Item to the Gallery."
— EA Help, Ultimate Team Evolutions
The FUT Deep Dive agrees from the other direction: "Evolution Items are represented by the original base Item before it entered an Evo." So a cosmetic Evo does not hand your gold the campaign rarity multiplier the Gallery pays for — worth 1.25× base score on tracked Season 1 lineups, so an 85-rated campaign card scores 2,625 where a regular 85 scores 2,100, per the full FC 27 Item Score table. Want score, buy the real campaign item; want a look, buy the shell and accept it is decoration.
Which FC 27 Evolutions should you actually pay for?
Ranked by what the money buys, for a Season 1 club:
- Nothing, until the free ones are done. 18 of the 34 live Evolutions cost zero — four Intro Evos, seven Season Pass unlocks (all closing 29 October 2026, 18:00 UTC), the two objective Evos, and the free Training Camp Evos. The free Week 1 Evo list is where the actual OVR is.
- Roles++ at 7,500 coins — the best paid value, with a caveat. That is roughly what an 88-rated gold costs at the market floor, and adding every Role++ is a tactical upgrade rather than a stat bump. Repeatable up to 9,999 times and open until 25 September 2027, so there is no deadline pressure — exactly why you should wait until the card is certainly staying. A full outfield XI is 11 × 7,500 = 82,500 coins. One card type to never buy it for: campaign items already have it. EA's Launch Update states that "all Campaign Player Items will launch with all of their position's Roles++ unlocked" — so 7,500 coins on an Ones to Watch card buys nothing.
- Creative Crossroads at 15,000 coins — decide by 30 September. One use, a branching Pathway, and the only paid Evo on this list with a deadline inside the week. If your CAM is settled, it is the one purchase on the clock.
- The Retro cosmetics — pay with FC Points if you pay at all. 125 coins per Point is the worst coin deal and the best Points deal in the store, and you have until 21 October 2026. Put them on a card you will never sell.
One free deadline first: Fullback Fork, the four-stage Training Camp Evo for full-backs, closes today — 28 September 2026 at 17:00 UTC. Frontline Paradox follows on 5 October, Pivot Shift on 6 October, Midfield Glow Up and Repeat Delivery on 22 October.
A returning player summed up the right order of operations on r/fut today, paraphrased: work through Objectives first, leave the Gallery for later because nothing there is missable, and ignore Evos until you find a silver or bronze you actually like. For a week-one club that beats any purchase in this article.

How do the free Evolutions compare?
The free list is longer and, right now, stronger. Season Pass Evolutions sit at Standard Levels 7, 11 and 27 and Premium Levels 1, 14, 26 and 28 — ladder maths in our Season Pass breakdown. The Ones We Watched Live Event unlocks Pinged Pass, and the Ted Lasso objective unlocks Believe, open until 16 September 2027.
The Store is not the only source, either. EA's Launch Update: "The Champions Token Store will also feature rewards specific to Champions, including Team of the Week Players with the exclusive Red Item design, Evolutions, and vanity rewards such as Celebrations." If you grind Champions anyway, Evolutions are in that reward pool — check qualification in Season 1 before buying an upgrade you can earn. FAQ
How many Evolutions are live in FC 27 right now? 34, read from the FUT.GG Evolutions index on 28 September 2026 — 16 paid, 18 free. EA rotates the list, so the in-game Evolutions tab under Club is the current source of truth.
Can you apply a Ones to Watch Retro cosmetic to any card? The tracked entry lists No requirements and applies the rarity "to any qualified player", so eligibility is wide — but it is one use each, so three cards total across Retro 18, 19 and 20. Check the in-game tile before paying.
Does an Evolution make my player untradeable in FC 27? Yes. EA states: "Once a Player is submitted to a standard Evolution slot, they become untradeable." Removing every Evolution restores tradeability if the card was tradeable beforehand, but removal is final and refunds nothing.
Should I pay coins or FC Points for an Evolution? Compare the implied rate. Roles++ is 50 coins per Point, Creative Crossroads 100, and the Retro cosmetics 125. Points go furthest on the cosmetics; coins are the better currency for Roles++.
Do cosmetic Evolutions help my FUT Gallery score? No. EA's help article says Evolution upgrades "don't increase its Gallery Item Score or add another version of the Player Item to the Gallery", and the FUT Deep Dive confirms Evolution Items are recorded as the original base Item. A retro shell is cosmetic for scoring purposes.
When do the paid Evolutions expire? Creative Crossroads on 30 September 2026 at 17:00 UTC, the three Retro cosmetics on 21 October 2026 at 18:00 UTC, and all twelve Roles++ Evos on 25 September 2027 at 17:00 UTC.
Can I still use an evolved player in SBCs? Not while the Evolution is in progress; EA confirms the card is eligible again once it completes.
