EA SPORTS FC 27 has been fully live since 25 September 2026, and the first complete, undistorted week of the Football Ultimate Team economy is running right now. Launch-window chaos is over. What is left will govern your coins until Season 1 ends on 22 October: a repeating weekly cycle, anchored to a handful of fixed clock times, in which the same cards are reliably cheapest on one morning and most expensive roughly 36 hours later.
Quick answer. Cheapest window: Thursday morning, immediately after Division Rivals weekly rewards land at 06:59 UTC — millions of players open packs inside the same hour and dump the same gold and sub-85 fodder onto the Transfer Market. Most expensive window: Thursday night into Friday, when everyone rebuilds for the Champions campaign that begins Friday. So: buy fodder and squad filler Thursday morning, sell meta and high-rated cards Thursday night or Friday. The trough for special cards is Monday/Tuesday. Three FC 27 changes amplify all of it: a "significantly higher proportion" of rewards are tradeable, post-match Coins are up several times over FC 26's 500–600 per match, and EA cut back Store pack offers — so more supply now arrives from playing, on a schedule, instead of from spending, at random.

What actually moves the FC 27 market every week?
Prices in Ultimate Team are not driven by how good a card is. They are driven by how many copies enter the market in a given hour versus how many people need one in that same hour. Both are scheduled, which is why the cycle is predictable.
Supply enters FC 27 through four scheduled taps:
| Supply event | When | What it dumps |
|---|---|---|
| Division Rivals weekly rewards | Thursdays, 06:59 UTC | The single largest pack dump of the week — every division, every player, same hour |
| Team of the Week release | Wednesdays, ~18:00 UK (community-tracked) | A new set of special items enters packs; last week's TOTW starts decaying |
| Champions campaign rewards | Rolling, from Friday onward as runs finish | Staggered, not a single spike |
| Squad Battles weekly rewards | Community-tracked at ~06:59 UTC Sunday; EA publishes no time | Mid-size dump, heavy on gold fodder |
Demand spikes through two: Champions squad building, concentrated in the hours before the campaign opens on Friday, and SBC or Campaign releases, which yank specific rating bands out of the market on no fixed schedule.
Everything else is noise. If you internalise one thing: the biggest supply event and the biggest demand event of the FC 27 week are about 36 hours apart, and the supply one comes first. That gap is the entire trade.
When is the cheapest time to buy in FC 27?
Thursday morning, within a couple of hours of the Rivals reward drop.
EA publishes exactly one reward time across the whole of Ultimate Team, and it is on the Division Rivals help article:
"Rewards are released on Thursdays at 06:59 AM UTC."
— EA Help, How EA SPORTS FC™ Ultimate Team™ Rivals work
That is 07:59 in the UK and 08:59 in Central Europe while summer time holds, and — the row people keep getting wrong — 23:59 on Wednesday night on the US Pacific coast. Our FC 27 reset times guide has the full conversion table and the two clock changes that move it in late October.
What happens in that hour is a supply shock. Millions of players claim and open the same packs simultaneously, and almost all of them immediately list the same thing: gold players they do not need. The market floods with 80–84 rated cards, and the exact band SBCs eat most falls hardest.
FC 27 makes this dump heavier than FC 26's, for a reason EA stated outright in the Launch Update Pitch Notes: "We're also increasing the amount of FUT Coins available through Rivals, and all Pack rewards will be tradeable at launch." In FC 26, a meaningful share of reward packs produced untradeable cards that could never reach the market. In FC 27 they can — the same reward tier now generates more listings.
The scale is not small either. EA's published example for Division 1 Upgraded Rewards is 95,000 Coins plus four 84+ Gold Players Packs, five 83+ Gold Players Packs, a 1-of-5 83+ Gold Player, a Giant Gold Pack and a TOTW Player Pack — multiplied by a full division ladder claiming in one window.
Players have worked this out. On r/fut this week, the most upvoted answer to a question about Champions-week pricing was that the moment to buy lower-rated meta cards is straight after Rivals rewards on Thursday morning, precisely because so many people pack sub-85 players at once.
Buy on Thursday morning: SBC fodder, squad filler, 80–84 rated golds, and any meta card below 85 overall. If you want the rating-by-rating breakdown of what fodder is actually worth, our FC 27 item score table shows why 84s are the cheapest efficient submission in the game right now.
When do FC 27 prices peak — and when should you sell?
Thursday night through Friday, for anything people actually want in their Champions squad.
Champions campaigns in FC 27 begin on Friday and run for three to five days depending on the week, per community tracker fifauteam, with up to 15 matches in the Finals bracket and a cap of five in Challengers. The first FC 27 Champions Finals window runs 2–5 October 2026. That Friday start is the deadline every serious player is building toward, and it is why high-rated meta cards behave in the exact opposite way to fodder.
The pattern r/fut traders describe for FC 27 is a two-stage rise: high-rated meta defenders and midfielders tick up on Thursday alongside everything else, then climb properly on Friday as Champions squads get finalised. The cards most exposed are the ones with the highest brand and meta overlap — campaign headliners and cover-level attackers that higher-ELO players specifically want for a 15-match run.
Sell on Thursday night or Friday: ICONs, 86+ meta cards, current campaign items, and anything you packed in your Rivals rewards that you were never going to use. The Destined for Glory Team 1 cards released on 25 September are a textbook case — live-upgrading campaign items with real Champions demand behind them.
One caveat that FC 27 specifically weakens: the old "Monday Champions reward crash" is softer this year. Rewards are issued as soon as an individual completes their campaign rather than all at once, so the payout is smeared across the weekend instead of landing as one wall of supply. Do not plan a trade around a Monday morning cliff that no longer really exists.
What changed in FC 27 that makes the swings bigger?
Three things, all from EA's own Launch Update, and all pushing in the same direction: more coins and more tradeable items circulating on a fixed weekly schedule.
1. Post-match Coins went up several times over. EA's wording is unusually specific:
"Compared to the roughly 500 to 600 FUT Coins typically earned from a match in EA SPORTS FC™ 26, Champions and Rivals will have the potential to reward several times more Coins, while Squad Battles will also see an increase."
— EA SPORTS, FC 27 Launch Update Pitch Notes, 14 September 2026
More coins chasing the same cards is inflationary at the top of the market, and it lets casual players bid on Friday instead of grinding all week — sharpening the Friday peak rather than flattening it. You also earn 15 to 100 Season Points per eligible match, capped at 850 per day, which keeps people playing past their weekly reward thresholds and therefore opening packs.
2. Tradeability went up across the board. EA: "In FC 27, a significantly higher proportion of rewards across Objectives, game modes, and other areas of FUT will be tradeable." Every untradeable reward that became tradeable is a card that can now hit the market on Thursday morning instead of being stuck in a club forever.
3. The Store got smaller. EA is running "fewer promotional Pack offers available, alongside lower user limits on certain offers." Pack-spend supply used to arrive whenever a promo pack dropped; with less of it, a larger share of all supply now arrives on the scheduled reward clock — exactly the condition under which a weekly cycle gets sharper and more tradeable.
There is a fourth, subtler one. The new FUT Gallery creates demand without creating a sink. EA's help documentation states that "Unlike Squad Building Challenges (SBCs), completing a Gallery Set doesn't submit or remove the Player Items from your Club." So when a Gallery meta pushes people to buy a whole league's worth of cards, those cards are not destroyed — they return to the market the moment the set is graded. SBC demand is permanent destruction; Gallery demand is a loan. Price them differently. Our Season 1 Gallery set breakdown has the grade thresholds driving that buying.

What is the full FC 27 weekly market timeline?
Times are UTC unless stated. Community-tracked entries are flagged; EA has published a time for exactly one of these.
| Day | Event | Market effect | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | Champions runs finishing; TOTW voting closes 23:59 PT | Drift lower; thin volume | Trough — buy special cards you want to hold |
| Tuesday | New TOTW voting window opens; light content day | Weakest demand of the week | Best day to buy last week's TOTW and campaign leftovers |
| Wednesday | TOTW released ~18:00 UK (community-tracked) | Previous TOTW decays fast; packs refresh | Sell last week's TOTW before 18:00 UK |
| Thursday 06:59 | Rivals weekly rewards — EA-published time | Biggest supply dump of the week; fodder floor | Buy fodder, filler and sub-85 meta |
| Thursday evening | Champions squad building begins | Meta and high-rated cards start climbing | Start listing what you plan to sell |
| Friday | Champions campaign opens (community-tracked) | Demand peak for meta and headliners | Sell high-rated and campaign cards |
| Saturday | Champions running; weekend SBC content | Choppy; SBC-specific rating bands spike | React to SBCs only, do not chase |
| Sunday | Squad Battles rewards ~06:59 (community-tracked; EA publishes no time) | Second, smaller gold dump | Top up fodder if you missed Thursday |
Two structural dates override the weekly rhythm. Season 1 ends on Thursday 22 October 2026 and Season 2 begins the same day — both EA-confirmed in the Launch Rewards Pitch Notes — which historically pulls coins out of the market in the final week as players hoard for new content. And FC 26 carryover rewards arrive on four dated drops: 2, 9, 16 and 23 October. Read those correctly: almost every carryover pack is untradeable, so they are not a flood of new listings. They inject coins directly and hand returning clubs free 81–84 fodder — which pulls those clubs off the buying side of the fodder market rather than adding to the selling side.
How do you avoid giving your profit back?
Three ways players lose coins on a cycle they otherwise read correctly.
The 5% tax. Every completed sale has 5% deducted before the coins reach your club — players, chemistry styles, consumables, identically on console, Web App and Companion App. It is tracked and confirmed by every major community tool rather than published prominently by EA, and it has not moved in years. A card bought at 100,000 and sold at 105,000 nets you 99,750. You lost coins. Break-even is roughly buy price ÷ 0.95 — about 105,300 on a 100,000-coin card, just to stand still.
Panic selling into the dump. The Thursday shock is not a signal that your card is finished; it is a scheduled event that reverses within 36 hours. An r/fut reply this week put it well: a player watching their new headliner drop the day after buying was told to resist selling into it, because the same card gets bid up on Friday by people building Champions squads.
Confusing Gallery demand with SBC demand. Only one of those permanently removes cards from circulation. Buying into a Gallery-driven rise and holding too long is how a "meta league" trade goes flat.
If you would rather skip the timing game entirely, we handle the two ends of it directly:
Want the coins without watching the clock? All run by human players on real accounts — no bots, no injectors, paced delivery, and an honest note that EA's User Agreement prohibits coin trading, so there is always residual account risk.
- EA FC 27 Coins — Comfort Trade with paced delivery, so you can buy on any day of the cycle rather than waiting for Thursday.
- EA FC 27 FUT Champions Boost — pro players run your 15-match Finals campaign so the Friday squad panic stops being your problem.
- EA FC 27 Evolutions Boost — pathways cleared for you, which is the cheapest way to upgrade a card you already own instead of buying into a Friday peak.

Does the cycle change later in Season 1?
The anchors do not. Rivals rewards stay at 06:59 UTC Thursday and Champions keeps opening on Friday. What changes is amplitude. Early in a season, squads are unfinished and almost everyone is buying, so the Friday peak is steep and the Thursday floor shallow. As Season 1 matures toward its 22 October close, more players are squad-complete, fodder demand shifts from squad-building to SBCs and Evolutions, and the swings narrow — until a Campaign release or a big SBC resets it violently for a few days.
The other variable is the clock. European clocks go back on 25 October 2026 and US clocks on 1 November — after Season 1 ends, but worth knowing, because the UTC anchor never moves and your local reminder does.
For where this sits in the wider Season 1 grind, our FUT Champions Season 1 guide covers qualification and the reward tiers your Friday squad is playing for, and the Rivals Bounties guide covers the Weekly Reward Points that decide which Thursday tier you land in.
FAQ
What is the cheapest day to buy players in FC 27? Thursday morning, in the hours right after Division Rivals weekly rewards land at 06:59 UTC. That is the single biggest simultaneous pack-opening event of the FC 27 week, and it floods the market with 80–84 rated golds and sub-85 meta cards. It is the reliable floor for fodder and squad filler.
When should I sell before Weekend League? Thursday night or Friday. Champions campaigns open on Friday and run three to five days, so demand for high-rated meta cards and campaign headliners concentrates in the hours beforehand. Selling into Friday's squad-building rush is the mirror image of buying into Thursday's dump.
Is the FC 27 market more volatile than FC 26? The weekly swings are wider, and EA's own changes explain why. Post-match Coins are up several times over FC 26's roughly 500–600 per match, a significantly higher proportion of rewards are tradeable, and the Store runs fewer promotional pack offers. More coins and more tradeable cards on a fixed reward clock means sharper scheduled peaks and troughs.
How much does the 5% EA tax cost me per flip? It is deducted from the sale price, so a 100,000-coin buy needs to sell for roughly 105,300 just to break even — buy price divided by 0.95. It applies to every item type and on every platform including the Web App and Companion App, and there is no way to avoid it. Any flip with a margin under about 6% is a loss dressed up as a trade.
Does completing a Gallery Set remove my cards like an SBC does? No. EA's help documentation states that completing a Gallery Set does not submit or remove the Player Items from your Club — unlike Squad Building Challenges. That matters for trading: Gallery demand pushes prices up temporarily but returns the supply afterwards, whereas SBC demand destroys the cards permanently.
Is there a big Monday crash when Champions rewards drop? Much less than in previous titles. Champions rewards are issued as soon as an individual finishes their campaign rather than all at once, so supply is spread across the weekend into Monday rather than arriving as a single wall. Monday and Tuesday are still the weakest demand days of the FC 27 week, which makes them good buying days for special cards you intend to hold.
