FC 27 Destined for Glory Team 1: All 15 Players, Every Upgrade Requirement and Which Cards Are Actually Worth Buying

Quick answer: Destined for Glory is EA SPORTS FC 27's first Ultimate Team campaign and it goes live on 25 September, the same day as worldwide launch. EA has published the squad size (15 players per weekly release) and the upgrade start date (18 September), and its campaign graphic gives the window as 25 September – 9 October — but EA has not published the upgrade ladder or the full Team 1 list. Community captures of the in-game content agree on both: attackers and midfielders upgrade off combined goals and assists (3 / 6 / 10 / 20), defenders and defensive midfielders off clean sheets (2 / 4 / 6 / 10), and the ceiling across all four tiers is +2 Overall, one extra PlayStyle and one attribute-pair bump. That ceiling is the whole story: buy a Destined for Glory card because you want to play it tonight, not because you are betting on the upgrade.

FC 27's full release landed on PC at 23:00 UTC on 24 September and on every other platform at 00:00 regional time on 25 September, and the first campaign arrives with it. If you played early access you have already watched the market swing twice; if you bought the standard edition, Destined for Glory is the first promo you get to open packs into at the same time as everyone else.

This guide covers what EA has actually confirmed, the full Team 1 list as the community has captured it, both upgrade paths with the exact thresholds, where the sources disagree, and a straight verdict on which cards are worth coins on day one.

What is Destined for Glory in FC 27?

Destined for Glory is a community-shaped campaign. EA's Launch Update Pitch Notes put it plainly: "On 25 September, Destined for Glory will spotlight players that you have voted to make a major impact this football season…" (EA SPORTS FC 27 Launch Update Pitch Notes, 14 September 2026). Voting ran through EA's FC 27 ratings hub, and EA's campaign graphic for that vote states the promo runs Sep. 25 – Oct. 09 with more than 21,000 players in the eligible pool — a two-week window that Dexerto and RealSport101 also report as ending 9 October.

Two things make these items different from a normal special card.

They are live items. Every Destined for Glory card can upgrade during the season based on what the real footballer does on the pitch. EA confirmed the clock started before the campaign did: "Destined for Glory Player Items can earn upgrades throughout the entire football season starting from September 18." So performances from the early-access week already count — you are not buying a card on zero progress.

They are campaign items under FC 27's new, deliberately flatter upgrade model. EA is "reducing the maximum number of PlayStyles+ from five to three and reducing the attribute increases between Campaigns," and it says all Campaign Player Items "will launch with all of their position's Roles++ unlocked." Translation: more squad-building flexibility on day one, far less headroom later. EA also confirmed the squads themselves shrank — "The first Campaign after Early Access, Destined for Glory, is one example of this approach and will feature 15 players in the Campaign Squad release each week."

If you want the underlying system rather than this week's squad, our Destined for Glory explainer covers the campaign structure and how it fits the Season 1 calendar.

Who is in Destined for Glory Team 1?

EA's own teaser asset showed five headliners with ratings attached: Mbappé 91 ST, Isak 88 ST, Rogers 87 CAM, Mbeumo 86 RM and Fernandes 85 CM. Those five are the community-voted faces of the campaign, and EA named them in the Pitch Notes as Kylian Mbappé, Morgan Rogers, Matheus Fernandes, Alexander Isak and Bryan Mbeumo.

The full 15-card Team 1 list below comes from in-game and database captures circulated by the FUT content community on 24–25 September and reported by Insider Gaming and Dexerto. EA has not published a Team 1 squad list, so treat every line as community-reported until the campaign screen is open in front of you.

JauregizarAthletic BilbaoCM85

Where the sources disagree, and why it matters. EA's teaser put Mbeumo (86) and Fernandes (85) among the campaign's five faces, yet neither appears in the captured Team 1 list — the community reporting says Fernandes is being held for the Week 2 squad on 2 October. Both things cannot be true of the same week, and EA has published nothing that settles it. If you are specifically chasing one of those two, do not spend on a pack gamble expecting them tonight. (Worth noting too: EA's prose spells the Tottenham midfielder Matheus Fernandes while the promo card asset renders "Mateus". The card is the same player.)

Also useful: the spread. The gap between the headliner (91) and the floor of the squad (85) is six points, which is exactly the "tighter spread of Attributes and PlayStyle boosts" EA said it was moving to. FC 26 campaign squads routinely ran a dozen points wide. Fewer duds, fewer jackpots.

How do Destined for Glory upgrades work?

Every card upgrades four times at most, and — per the community captures, not an EA statement — only domestic league performances count toward progress. Position determines which ladder you are on, and the two ladders are not equivalent in difficulty.

Midfielders and attackers, by combined goals and assists:

Combined goals and assistsUpgrade
3+1 Shooting and Passing
6+1 PlayStyle
10+1 Overall
20+1 Overall

Defenders and defensive midfielders, by total clean sheets:

Total clean sheetsUpgrade
2+1 Defending and Physical
4+1 PlayStyle
6+1 Overall
10+1 Overall

Two caveats to carry with those tables. First, EA has published neither ladder — both are community-captured, and the two outlets reporting them disagree on the very first defensive tier: Insider Gaming reads it as +1 Defending and Physical, Dexerto as +1 Defending and Passing. Second, the thresholds themselves are corroborated by both, which is why they are safe to plan around even while the attribute wording is not.

Now do the arithmetic, because this is the part the promo hype skips. Four tiers, of which two are Overall bumps. A Destined for Glory card's absolute ceiling is +2 Overall, +1 PlayStyle and one attribute-pair increase — and the second Overall bump needs 20 goals and assists or 10 clean sheets in domestic competition, which is a genuine season-long ask for most of this list. An 85-rated full-back realistically finishes the season at 86–87, not 89.

That is not a bug, it is the design EA described: "we're taking a more measured approach to how Items upgrade, with fewer Campaigns, smaller Campaign squads, and more targeted upgrades." FC 27's campaign cards are built to stay usable, not to double in value. Price your expectations accordingly — and if you want the upgrade mechanic that does still move fast this season, Ones to Watch has a different trigger and a different calendar.

Should you buy Destined for Glory cards on day one?

Three things are working against day-one prices, and one is working for them.

Against: worldwide launch is a supply shock. Every standard-edition club opened its starter and pre-order packs in the same few hours, and campaign items replace regular cards in the pack pool for the duration of the promo. More packs plus a promo pool means more Destined for Glory supply hitting the market tonight than at any point in the campaign. Our launch-day market timeline sets out the hour-by-hour shape of that.

Against: the upgrade ceiling is +2 Overall. A card that can only gain two points is not a speculative asset. There is no "buy and hold for the upgrade" trade here the way there was on FC 26 campaign items with five PlayStyles+ of headroom.

Against: coins are the tightest resource in launch week. EA throttled the Store deliberately — "From launch, we're taking a more focused approach to Store content. You'll see fewer promotional Pack offers available, alongside lower user limits on certain offers."

For: EA raised coin income and tradeability. EA confirmed "a significantly higher proportion of rewards across Objectives, game modes, and other areas of FUT will be tradeable," and that Champions and Rivals can pay "several times more" than the roughly 500–600 coins a FC 26 match returned. Your income curve this year is steeper, so a card bought at a launch-weekend low gets paid off faster.

The practical read: the cards worth coins on day one are the ones whose base stats you want in your XI right now — Mbappé at 91 if you can afford him, Nuno Mendes at 89 as arguably the best full-back in the game at launch, and the 86–87 midfield block (Harder, Rogers, Undav, Kökçü) as high-value squad glue. The 85-rated defenders are the ones to wait on: their ladder is the slower one, the market has not finished falling, and clean-sheet progress will be visible before you need to commit.

And one collection note that changes the maths slightly: because a Gallery Set keeps a player's score even after you sell the card, a Destined for Glory item can be bought, added to a Set, graded and relisted — you pay the 5% EA tax and the spread rather than the full price of ownership. The catch is First Owner: a card bought on the market never carries that tag. Our First Owner and Gallery tags breakdown has the full bonus table, and the Gallery eligibility rules explain why some items refuse to count.

Short on coins for the cards that actually matter this weekend? Destined for Glory items only enter the economy through packs and the market, and launch-week prices move fast. We deliver EA FC 27 coins by Comfort Trade at a paced, account-safe rate, and cover the grind content around the campaign.

What else lands alongside the campaign today?

Destined for Glory is not arriving alone, and the overlap matters for how you spend.

The Season 1 (Combined Rarities) Gallery Set unlocks at worldwide launch and pulls Ones to Watch, Destined for Glory and Future Stars items into one collection — so a campaign card you buy this weekend has a second use beyond your XI. TOTW 2 is live from 23 September with Olise 91, Raphinha 89 and Salah 88 heading the squad, which means two competing premium pools in the same pack pull; our TOTW 2 squad breakdown lists all 23. And the Season 1 pass keeps paying Ones to Watch items across 30 levels, which is the cheapest route to a live card if your coin balance is thin — the full ladder and SP maths is worth reading before you grind objectives blind.

If you are logging in for the first time today, work through the launch day checklist first — claiming pre-order and Season content before you touch the market is worth more than any single pack.

FAQ

What time does Destined for Glory start in FC 27? Community reporting puts the campaign drop at 18:00 BST on 25 September, which is FUT's usual Friday content time. EA's ratings graphic confirms the campaign window as Sep. 25 – Oct. 09 but does not publish a start time, so treat the hour as community-reported.

How many Destined for Glory players are there? EA confirmed 15 players in each weekly Campaign Squad release. With a two-week campaign ending 9 October, that points to roughly 30 items plus any Objective and SBC additions, which are separate from the Campaign Squad.

Do Destined for Glory upgrades still work if I buy the card from the market? Yes. The upgrade is attached to the item, not to how you obtained it, and progress has been tracking since 18 September. What a market purchase does cost you is the First Owner Gallery tag, which only applies to cards you personally packed.

What is the maximum a Destined for Glory card can upgrade? Four tiers, totalling +2 Overall, one extra PlayStyle and one attribute-pair increase. The final Overall bump requires 20 combined goals and assists for attackers and midfielders, or 10 clean sheets for defenders and defensive midfielders, in domestic league football only.

Are Destined for Glory cards tradeable? Campaign items pulled from packs are tradeable. Copies earned from Objectives may be untradeable depending on the specific Objective, which is normal for FUT — check the reward label before you commit to the grind.

Should I wait for Team 2 on 2 October? If you are chasing a specific player who has not appeared yet — Fernandes being the clearest case — yes. Otherwise there is no mechanical advantage to waiting: Team 2 items sit on the same upgrade ladder with the same +2 Overall ceiling.
