FC 27's newest free Evolution takes a 66-rated CDM to 80 without a single match, and to 85 with six more. EA SPORTS FC 27 released Middle Management on Saturday 17 October at 17:00 UTC. It's a Training Camp Evolution: you submit a CDM or CM rated 74 or lower, the card trains offline through four 6-hour levels, and it comes back at 80 OVR. It costs 0 coins and 0 FC Points.
The headline is the 80. The bigger story is what it unlocks: an 80-rated midfielder fits straight into Centre Stage, the free CDM/CM Evolution from 15 October, which caps at 85. We pulled fut.gg's full eligible and evolved player lists (the 2,493 rare cards listed on 18 October) to see what Middle Management actually does to every card, and which players come out of the two-Evo chain best.
TLDR: FC 27 Middle Management in 30 seconds. Free Training Camp Evo for a CDM or CM, max 74 OVR, Pace 83 or lower, not CAM, CB or ST, max 7 PlayStyles. 4 levels × 6 hours = 24 hours, zero matches. Every eligible card finishes at 80 OVR and 99% reach 81 Passing, but Dribbling doesn't change at all, so pick a card that's already a good dribbler or already fast. Start by Thursday 22 October, 17:00 UTC. Then put it into Centre Stage (start by 25 October, 18:00 UTC, 6 matches) and fut.gg shows every recommended card finishing at 85 OVR. Best picks: Max Burgess (66 to 85 across the chain), Hugo Vetlesen, Amine Harit (5★ skills) and Fuka Nagano.

What is the FC 27 Middle Management Evolution?
Middle Management is a free Training Camp Evolution for central midfielders. EA's in-game description, as fut.gg reproduces it, reads: "Send your junior midfielder to this training to acquire skills necessary for managing the center of the pitch. From passing & shooting, to interceptions & strength, plus many more." (fut.gg, Middle Management)
Training Camp Evos work differently from normal ones. EA's Evolutions help page puts it plainly: "Training Camp Evolutions let you passively upgrade your Players. They work differently from standard Evolutions. When you submit a Player to a Training Camp Evolution, your Player is unavailable for a set amount of time." So you can't use the card in a match for those 24 hours, and you can't put it in an SBC either. If you've never run one, our Training Camp Evolutions explainer covers the timers.
What are the Middle Management requirements?
| Requirement | Middle Management |
|---|---|
| Max OVR | 74 |
| Position | CDM or CM |
| Must not be | CAM, CB, ST |
| Max Pace | 83 |
| Max PlayStyles | 7 |
| Cost | 0 coins, 0 FC Points |
| Levels | 4 × 6-hour Training Camp sessions |
| Start by | Thursday 22 October 2026, 17:00 UTC |
| Finish by | Thursday 29 October 2026, 18:00 UTC |
The position check reads every position on the card, not just the main one. That's why a left midfielder like Amine Harit is eligible (he lists CM) and why any CM that also lists CAM disappears from the list. Destructoid's guide currently prints the entry positions as LM or RM. fut.gg's data, which matches the in-game filter, says CDM or CM. If a card you expected is missing, our FC 27 "player not eligible" Evolution guide walks through every hidden trap.
What does Middle Management upgrade at each level?
Each level is one 6-hour Training Camp session. The numbers in brackets are the caps: the highest value that stat can reach.
| Level | Time | Upgrades (cap) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 6 hours | OVR (80), Vision (81), Long Passing (81), Standing Tackle (77), Finishing (76), Aggression (75) |
| 2 | 6 hours | Crossing (80), Curve (79), Shot Power (77), Sliding Tackle (76), Weak Foot (3★), Power Shot PlayStyle |
| 3 | 6 hours | Free Kick Accuracy (80), Interceptions (77), Long Shots (76), Acceleration (75), Jumping (75) |
| 4 | 6 hours | Short Passing (81), Defensive Awareness (76), Strength (76), Sprint Speed (75), Volleys (75) |
fut.gg lists the boosts as +40 or +50, added to your card's value and then capped. For most cards that means the caps are the Evolution: almost every attribute in the table lands on the number in brackets. Two exceptions: a stat already above its cap stays where it is, and a very low stat can still fall short. Amatucci's 33 Volleys, for example, only reaches 73 after +40, below the 75 cap.
Two small upgrades come with conditions:
- Weak Foot +2, capped at 3★. Only cards on 1★ or 2★ gain anything. That's 398 of the 2,493 eligible rare cards (16%).
- Power Shot, capped at 3 PlayStyles. The PlayStyle is only added to cards with fewer than three. In fut.gg's data, 2,341 cards gain it. The other 152 don't: 141 already have three or more PlayStyles, and 11 have fewer than three but already own Power Shot.
What doesn't Middle Management change?
Dribbling. It's not in any level, so Agility, Balance, Ball Control, Dribbling, Reactions and Composure stay exactly where they were. Across all 2,493 eligible rare cards on fut.gg, the Dribbling face stat is unchanged on 100% of them.
Most of the rest of the card converges on a similar template:
- OVR: all 2,493 cards finish at 80. The median card starts at 65, so the typical gain is +15.
- Passing: 2,472 cards (99%) land on 81.
- Shooting, Defending, Physical: the medians move to 74, from 54, 61 and 65.
- Pace: 92.6% of cards gain pace, but Acceleration and Sprint Speed are each raised only up to 75. A value already above 75 stays where it is, so a card like Harit (80 Acceleration, 70 Sprint Speed) keeps his acceleration and still gains sprint speed. Only 239 cards (9.6%) start at 75+ face Pace.
That changes how you pick. Two finished Middle Management cards usually end up very close in Passing, Defending and OVR. What separates them is everything the Evo doesn't touch: Dribbling, pace above 75, Skill Moves, Weak Foot above 3★, height and existing PlayStyles. Pick on those, not on the base rating.
Can you chain Middle Management into Centre Stage for 85 OVR?
Yes, and it's the best reason to run it. Centre Stage is the free CDM/CM Evolution EA released on 15 October. It accepts cards up to 81 OVR with Pace 85 or lower, and caps OVR at 85. A finished Middle Management card is 80 OVR with pace no higher than 83, so it clears every gate. Our Speed Bump and Centre Stage guide has the full Centre Stage level table: 4 levels, 6 matches, no wins needed, and Squad Battles on Semi-Pro or higher counts.
fut.gg's Evolution-combination results show every player we checked finishing the chain at 85 OVR. The useful comparison is against running Centre Stage on its own:
The chart is an illustrative selection of nine eligible cards. The lower your starting card, the more Middle Management matters:
- Max Burgess (66): Centre Stage alone gets him to 76. With Middle Management first, he finishes at 85. That's +9 from a free 24-hour wait.
- 71-rated cards (Vetlesen, Zabi): 81 alone, 85 chained, +4.
- 74-rated cards (Nagano, Leopold, Harit): 84 alone, 85 chained, only +1. But Middle Management still adds +12 to +15 Shooting to those cards (Harit 64 to 76, Leopold 60 to 74, Nagano 60 to 75), and Centre Stage doesn't raise Shooting.
Run Middle Management first. It only accepts cards rated 74 or lower, and Centre Stage first would push almost every card on this list past that limit.
Who are the best players for Middle Management?
Because finished cards end up so close in Passing, Defending and OVR, we ranked the eligible list by what the Evo leaves alone. All stats below are fut.gg face stats after Middle Management, then after the full Centre Stage chain.
| Player | Base | Club (league) | After MM: PAC / DRI / SM / WF | After chain |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Max Burgess | 66 CDM | Newcastle Jets (A-League) | 81 / 64 / 3★ / 4★ | 85, PHY 85 |
| Hugo Vetlesen | 71 CDM | Club Brugge (Pro League) | 82 / 76 / 3★ / 4★ | 85, PHY 86 |
| Patrick Zabi | 71 CM | Paris FC (Ligue 1) | 79 / 73 / 4★ / 3★ | 85 |
| Amine Harit | 74 LM (CM) | OM (Ligue 1) | 77 / 79 / 5★ / 3★ | 85 |
| Fuka Nagano | 74 CDM | Liverpool (WSL) | 77 / 78 / 3★ / 3★ | 85 |
| Filippo Ranocchia | 73 CM | Palermo (Serie B) | 83 / 74 / 3★ / 4★ | 85 |
| Nicolás Oroz | 74 CM | Argentinos Jrs. (Argentina) | 80 / 75 / 4★ / 4★ | 85 |
| Barry Bannan | 72 CM | Sheffield Wed (League One) | 75 / 74 / 3★ / 3★ | 85, PAC 77 |
How to choose between them:
- Biggest jump: Max Burgess. He goes from 66 to 85 over the chain (+19), and he's already fast at 81 Pace, so the 75 pace cap doesn't touch him.
- Best all-round CDM: Hugo Vetlesen. He keeps 82 Pace and 76 Dribbling, has a 4★ weak foot and finishes the chain with 86 Physical.
- Best on the ball: Amine Harit. He has 5★ skills and 79 Dribbling, and Middle Management doesn't touch either. He's the closest thing on the list to an attacking CM, which suits him to a CM slot rather than CDM.
- Best women's pick: Fuka Nagano. She gives you 78 Dribbling, 77 Pace and a Liverpool link for Women's Super League hybrids.
- Slow-but-clever fix: Barry Bannan. He starts at 44 Pace. Centre Stage alone leaves him at 51, while Middle Management first takes him to 75 and the chain to 77. That's the clearest case of Middle Management fixing a weakness the other Evos can't.
Lorenzo Amatucci (73 CM, Deportivo) is also strong here. He qualifies for Middle Management and Midfield Glow Up, but EA lists CDM as one of his positions, which locks him out of Playmaker Reborn (CDM excluded). For most other 74-or-lower midfielders you do get a choice, and it's a one-time choice. Read the next section before you pick.

Middle Management, Playmaker Reborn or Midfield Glow Up?
Three free Training Camp Evos are live for 74-or-lower midfielders, and all three lift a card past 74. That means each card gets one.
| Evo | Positions | OVR cap | What it raises | Start by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Middle Management | CDM, CM | 80 | Passing, shooting, defending, strength | 22 Oct, 17:00 UTC |
| Playmaker Reborn | CAM, CM | 80 | Dribbling, Agility, Ball Control, Composure, passing | 22 Oct, 07:00 UTC |
| Midfield Glow Up | CDM | 79 | Defending, passing (lower caps) | 22 Oct, 17:00 UTC |
- For a CDM, Middle Management beats Midfield Glow Up. Both chain into Centre Stage at 85 with the same Defending, according to fut.gg's results for Vetlesen, Nagano, Pobega and Burgess. Middle Management also adds Shooting: Vetlesen finishes with 75 SHO instead of 66, and Nagano with 75 instead of 60.
- For a CM, it depends on the role. Playmaker Reborn is the only one of the three that raises Dribbling, so it's the pick for a card that has to carry the ball. Middle Management is the pick for a box-to-box or holding CM you plan to chain into Centre Stage.
- Playmaker Reborn closes 10 hours earlier, at 07:00 UTC on 22 October.
When does Middle Management expire, and how fast can you finish it?
You have to start Middle Management by Thursday 22 October, 17:00 UTC, which is Season 2 launch day. You have until Thursday 29 October, 18:00 UTC to finish all four levels (fut.gg).
Plan on checking in between sessions. EA says that once the time has passed "you can claim your upgrades", and Destructoid describes the process as having to "lock the card for six hours four times." So treat 24 hours as the minimum, plus the time between claims. If you want the card for Centre Stage, you need all four sessions done before Sunday 25 October, 18:00 UTC, because that's when Centre Stage stops accepting new players. Its six matches can then be finished by Sunday 1 November, 18:00 UTC (fut.gg). Starting Middle Management by Wednesday 21 October leaves comfortable slack, and the hard cut-off is Thursday 22 October, 17:00 UTC.
EA's help page has one warning worth knowing before you start: "You can also cancel Training Camp Evolutions, but you won't get any unearned upgrades. If you cancel, you won't get rewards for the remaining levels or receive back any FC Points or Ultimate Team Coins used to access the Evolution." It also says you can "remove the last applied Evolution or all applied Evolutions" from a player. If you later remove all Evolutions from a chained card, Middle Management goes too, and after 22 October you can't run it again.
Is Middle Management worth it?
Yes, for almost any CDM or CM you'd actually play. It costs nothing, needs no matches and takes as little as 24 hours. The real cost is an Evolution slot and at least a day without the card. For the full slot rules, see how many Evos you can run at once in FC 27.
There are two cases where you should think twice:
- 74-rated cards with weak Dribbling. You'll get an 80 OVR card with the same 81 Passing as everyone else's, plus whatever Dribbling it already had. If that's under 70, you'll feel it on the ball.
- CMs you want for an attacking role. Playmaker Reborn suits them better, and they can't do both.
Keep your expectations in proportion, too. EA has said this year's upgrades are deliberately smaller: "by the end of the season, we are intending for the scope of Attribute and PlayStyle upgrades between base items and final campaign Items to be meaningfully smaller compared to FC 26" (FUT Deep Dive). An 85 OVR CDM for 0 coins is good value in that economy, but it's a squad-depth card, not an end-game one. Our breakdown of the FC 27 Evolutions nerf covers the rest.

What hasn't EA said about Middle Management?
EA doesn't publish Evolution details on its news pages. Everything in the requirement and level tables comes from fut.gg, which reads it from the game, and Destructoid's level list matches. The finished stats are fut.gg's calculations from 18 October, not in-game screenshots. Two things are still unconfirmed:
- Whether the PlayStyle cap counts PlayStyle+. fut.gg's data only shows Power Shot being skipped on cards with three or more regular PlayStyles.
- Whether EA extends the start-by date. Season 2 starts the same day Middle Management closes. If the deadline moves, we'll update this guide. If you're planning the rest of reset week, our FC 27 Season 2 guide has the dates.
FAQ
