FC 27 Ultimate Scream is not announced yet — but the game itself just told on EA. In the last 24 hours, players on both r/fut and r/EASportsFC found Ultimate Scream upgrade text sitting inside the info panel of live FC 27 Team of the Week items, describing the "full moon" upgrades that defined last year's Halloween promo. Within an hour, the replies had split into two camps: it's coming, and it's last year's code.
Both camps are partly right, and the difference matters for your coins. EA SPORTS FC 27 is in the final week of Season 1: Ones to Watch, which closes on Thursday 22 October 2026, when Season 2 opens. Here is what EA has confirmed, what the leak can prove, the likeliest date, and how to set up your club.
TLDR — FC 27 Ultimate Scream in 30 seconds
EA has not announced an Ultimate Scream promo for FC 27 Ultimate Team. It has confirmed a Halloween event for The Grounds called Screaming Grounds, and that Season 2 runs 22 October to 3 December 2026 (42 days). Last year's Ultimate Scream launched on Friday 24 October 2025, the standard 6pm UK promo slot, which makes Friday 23 October 2026 — the first Friday of Season 2 — the most likely FC 27 date. The in-game "full moon" text is real, but EA reuses item templates between years, and FC 26's upgrades were pinned to the 2025 full moons (5 November and 4 December). The 2026 Beaver Moon is 24 November and the Cold Moon lands after Season 2 ends. Treat any date printed in that leaked text as unproven until EA publishes its own Ultimate Scream article.

Is Ultimate Scream confirmed for FC 27?
Not for Ultimate Team. As of 15 October 2026, EA's FC 27 news hub lists 21 articles and none announces an Ultimate Scream promo. The newest FUT campaign article is Future Stars (9 October), which EA describes as part of Season 1 alongside Ones to Watch and Destined for Glory.
Halloween itself is confirmed, though, and almost nobody has noticed where. EA's FC 27 Launch Update Pitch Notes list it under "Season 1 Grounds Content":
"As Halloween approaches, darkness takes over with Screaming Grounds. Take aim at pumpkin targets, jump into Halloween-themed Live Events, and flaunt fantastical Cosmetic Items like superhero-esque costumes." — EA SPORTS, FC 27 Launch Update
That is The Grounds, the Pro-based social mode, not Ultimate Team. It only runs on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, PC and Switch 2. It does show EA planning Halloween content for FC 27, and the name echoes the Scream brand. It does not tell you whether FUT gets its own Scream cards.
EA has also confirmed the calendar a FUT promo would sit inside. From EA's Launch Rewards Pitch Notes:
- Season 1: Ones to Watch — 17 September to 22 October 2026 (35 days)
- Season 2 — 22 October to 3 December 2026 (42 days)
- Season 3 — 3 December 2026 to 14 January 2027
EA has not named Season 2's theme. Any article — this one included — that says "Ultimate Scream starts on X" is extrapolating; the question is how strong the extrapolation is.
What did players find inside FC 27?
Two separate posts on 15 October reported the same thing from different items. One player opened the info panel on a Team of the Week Inform while building a Draft and found Ultimate Scream copy attached to it; another found the full-moon upgrade breakdown on a different TOTW Inform item. Neither is an EA announcement. Both are evidence that Ultimate Scream text exists in the FC 27 client.
The best reply in the thread explained why that does not settle anything. Paraphrasing: EA reuses item code between years, swapping the design, the name and the live mechanics — so FC 27's Holographic TOTW items are probably sitting in the same item slot Ultimate Scream occupied last year, and the old description came along for the ride. Another player noted that every FC 27 special item already ships with Role++ everywhere, which would make the Role-upgrade half of the old full-moon mechanic pointless this year.
That second point is EA-backed. EA's FC 27 Launch Update states that "all Campaign Player Items will launch with all of their position's Roles++ unlocked". Last year's Ultimate Scream items earned Role+ and then Role++ as their upgrades. In FC 27 that reward already comes free with every campaign item, so the mechanic cannot return unchanged.
How did Ultimate Scream work in FC 26?
This is the template everyone is reading the leak against, and it comes straight from EA's FC 26 Ultimate Scream article of 24 October 2025:
"Ultimate Scream introduces new Player Items that evolve alongside the full moon cycle. Across a fearful fortnight, Player Items will transform through two live upgrades — first tied to the Beaver Moon on 5 November, strengthening players with Role+ additions, followed by the Cold Moon upgrade on 4 December that furthers this with Role++ additions to all positions and alternate positions. All upgrades will be permanent." — EA SPORTS, FC 26 Ultimate Scream
EA added two more rules worth knowing:
- Temporary 99 boosts: "On the day of the Beaver and Cold Full Moon, Ultimate Scream items will also receive a temporary boost to 99 in one random Face Stat, lasting for 7 days."
- Evolutions excluded: "Ultimate Scream items from Evolutions do not receive Full Moon upgrades."
Last year's promo also brought six Halloween Puzzle SBCs, Ultimate Scream Evolutions, a Screamers House Rules tournament (outside-the-box goals counted double) and Flash Rush events. FIFPlay records two teams: 24 October and 31 October, both in packs until 7 November 2025.

Why the leaked dates probably belong to last year
EA did not invent the 5 November and 4 December dates — those were the actual 2025 full moons. The Beaver Moon peaked on 5 November 2025 and the Cold Moon on 4 December 2025. EA tied the upgrades to the real sky.
The 2026 sky is different. Per The Old Farmer's Almanac and Astronomy.com, the 2026 Beaver Moon is Tuesday 24 November (about 9:53am Eastern) and the Cold Moon is Wednesday 23 December in the Americas, Thursday 24 December in the UK. Next week's Hunter's Moon falls on Monday 26 October 2026 (just after midnight Eastern, late on the 25th on the US West Coast).
That gives you a quick test for anything you see in-game:

One player pointed out that 4 December 2026 is a Friday, the normal promo day, as a reason to believe the date could be reused deliberately. It is a fair point, but it cuts against the theme: EA marketed the mechanic as following the full moon, and there is no full moon on 4 December 2026. There is a second problem for a straight copy as well. Season 2 ends on 3 December, so a December upgrade would land in Season 3 for the first time.
When will Ultimate Scream start in FC 27?
Best estimate: Friday 23 October 2026, 6pm UK / 10am Pacific (17:00 UTC). That is an inference from three things, not an EA date:
- The Friday promo slot. FC 26 released new promos on Fridays at 10am Pacific / 6pm UK all year (per Dexerto's FC 26 promo calendar), and FC 27 has kept the habit. Destined for Glory launched with the game on Friday 25 September, and Future Stars followed on Friday 9 October.
- The season boundary. Season 2 starts on Thursday 22 October. 23 October is the first Friday of the new season.
- Last year's anchor. FC 26's Ultimate Scream arrived on 24 October 2025 — the equivalent Friday one calendar year earlier.
Several trading sites are already printing "23 October" as if it were confirmed. It is not. A FUT Halloween promo is likely, given Screaming Grounds, but it is not guaranteed: Ultimate Scream was absent for several editions before EA "resurrected" it in FC 26. If EA does run it, expect the announcement article the same afternoon, as it did on 24 October 2025.
Before that, two dated events are already on the board for this week. First, the PlayStyle+ Lab opens alongside the first PlayStyle+-eligible UEFA Star Performers, which EA says start on 17 October. Second, the next FC 26 carryover wave lands on 16 October, per EA's Launch Rewards table. What other promos are expected in FC 27 Season 2?
FC 26 is the best guide we have, because FC 27's season boundaries were built around the same autumn calendar. Here is what ran in the equivalent window last year, according to Dexerto's FC 26 promo calendar, with the matching FC 27 Friday:

Two of those are near-certain. Black Friday is fixed to the calendar, and it falls on 27 November 2026. EA has run Thunderstruck for it for years, and in FC 26 its own article said the main team and ICONs would arrive "on Friday, 28 November", with more players released later that day and again on 30 November. A UEFA-themed promo in early November is also likely: EA's FC 27 authenticity article confirms the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League licences. Treat the other names as placeholders. EA regularly renames, merges or retires mid-season promos.
Two non-promo dates in Season 2 also matter to your club:
- 1 November — Club Membership deadline. EA's Club Membership article says to "log into EA SPORTS FC™ 26 and FC 27 before 1 November to secure your spot". EA's game disclaimers set the cutoff at 12:00am Pacific on 1 November and exclude Companion App logins and trials, including the EA Play trial.
- 15 November — the next FC Points drop. EA pays Ultimate Edition FC Points as a first-login grant and then "on the 15th of each month". The second 2,000-point drop arrived today, 15 October, and players in the UK confirmed it on r/fut this morning.
How should you prepare your coins for Season 2?
This is where the leak matters, even if the dates turn out wrong. A new promo on Friday 23 October would land on top of three other supply events in the same eight days: the 60,000-coin carryover wave for players who earned it in FC 26, Season 1's final rewards on 22 October, and the Season 2 ladder resetting. EA has already said FC 27 coin balances run high — its FUT developer update said "Coin balances are more than 50% higher than at the same point last year" (our breakdown). More coins chasing a new promo is the classic recipe for a short price spike in fodder and a slide in last season's meta cards.
The plan that holds up whichever way EA goes:
- Before Thursday 22 October: sell Season 1 meta cards you are not using. New promo items push older special cards down. This is the long-standing FUT market pattern, not an EA rule. It is the same logic we laid out when Destined for Glory ended (the DfG sell-or-hold call).
- Keep, don't sell, Ones to Watch items that can still upgrade. EA's OTW FAQ says upgrades continue "based on performance in the 2026/27 domestic season", not the FUT season. Their upgrade path does not close on 22 October.
- Stock fodder this weekend, not next Friday. Promo weeks usually bring Puzzle and player SBCs, and FC 26's Ultimate Scream shipped six Puzzle SBCs in its first week. Any 83–86 rated fodder bought before 23 October is cover against that demand.
- Do not pay for a Scream card on day one if the upgrade dates are unclear. If FC 27 keeps a moon mechanic, the first upgrade most likely lands around 24 November, about a month after release, rather than the 12 days FC 26 owners waited. If the mechanic is cut, the cards are flat promo items. Either way, launch-hour prices carry the most hype.

What would change this plan?
- An EA Ultimate Scream article. EA posted FC 26's on release day. A 24 November moon date in it means a rebuilt mechanic; 2025 dates mean the leak was leftover code.
- A different Season 2 theme. EA says each season has "a distinct theme connecting its Campaigns through one wider journey". A UEFA-led Season 2 could shrink Halloween to a side event.
- A new name. If EA rebrands the Halloween promo, the Friday 23 October slot and the coin plan still apply.
