Destined for Glory ends today. EA has named Future Stars as the third and final campaign of FC 27 Season 1 — and then said almost nothing else about it. That gap between "EA named it" and "EA dated it" is where most of the bad advice online lives right now, so this guide separates the two, then tells you what to do with your coins in the hours before Team 1 lands.
Quick answer: EA has confirmed Future Stars is a Season 1 campaign in FC 27, but has published no release date, no player list and no end date. Community trackers, leakers and outlets all point to Friday 9 October 2026 at 18:00 BST (17:00 UTC) — the standard FUT content slot — immediately after Destined for Glory's 9 October finish. Season 1 itself ends 22 October 2026, which leaves roughly a 13-day window for the campaign. Practical move: hold liquid coins rather than packs, expect a Friday-evening price dip on 85–88 rated fodder as supply floods in, and do not buy Future Stars items in the first two hours.
Phase check: FC 27 is in Season 1, week 4 — well past launch. The game released worldwide on 25 September 2026 (PC unlocked 24 September at 23:00 UTC), early access opened on console on 18 September at 00:00 regional time (PC at 17 September 23:00 UTC), and Season 1 runs to 22 October. Everything below is current as of 9 October 2026, 16:00 UTC.

When does FC 27 Future Stars start?
The honest answer has two halves, and you should not let anyone sell you the second half as the first.
What is sourced to EA: nothing about timing. There is no Future Stars article on ea.com's FC 27 news hub as of this writing — we checked the obvious URLs and got 404s. EA's Launch Update Pitch Notes name the campaign, and that is the entire official record.
What is sourced to the community: a very consistent 9 October expectation. FIFPlay's Future Stars page states the campaign "is expected to start on Friday, 9 October 2026, following the second week of Destined for Glory," at 18:00 UK time. The Mirror's preview is blunter about the confidence level: "Although unconfirmed, Future Stars is expected by content creators, leakers and insiders to start on Friday, October 9. It will begin at the usual 6pm content drop that FUT fans are well accustomed to by now on Friday evenings."
Three structural facts make that expectation reasonable rather than a guess:
- Destined for Glory ends 9 October 2026. EA dated the campaign in the FC 27 Ratings Pitch Notes — not in the Destined for Glory article itself, which carries no end date. FUT does not usually leave the campaign slot empty on a Friday.
- Season 1 ends 22 October 2026, and Season 2 runs 22 October to 3 December 2026 (both EA-confirmed in the Launch Rewards Pitch Notes, 17 September). If Future Stars is a Season 1 campaign, it has to fit before 22 October.
- FUT content drops at 18:00 UK time on Fridays. That is the slot every FC 27 campaign release has used so far.
Put those together and the window is roughly 9–22 October: about 13 days, or two content weeks. Treat the 9 October 18:00 BST time as a strong community expectation, not an EA promise — if EA slips it a week, the Season 1 end date is the hard wall that does not move.
What has EA actually confirmed about Future Stars?
Short list. Here it is, with the receipts.
It is a Season 1 campaign. From EA's FC 27 Launch Update Pitch Notes: "In EA SPORTS FC™ 27, each Season will have a distinct theme connecting its Campaigns through one wider journey. Season 1 brings together Ones to Watch, Destined for Glory, and Future Stars, all centred on players ready to make their mark on the football season ahead." That is the sentence everything else is built on.
Future Stars is an eligible rarity in the Season 1 Gallery Set. EA's first post-launch Gallery Set — Season 1 (Combined Rarities) — accepts Ones to Watch, Destined for Glory and Future Stars items. EA's wording: "The first post-launch Gallery Set arrives at Worldwide Launch with the Season 1 (Combined Rarities) Set…" So the Set has been sitting there with a third of its eligible pool not yet in the game.
Campaign squads are 15 players per weekly release. EA, on its more focused campaign approach: "The first Campaign after Early Access, Destined for Glory, is one example of this approach and will feature 15 players in the Campaign Squad release each week." EA said this about Destined for Glory specifically, so apply it to Future Stars as the current pattern, not as a stated rule.
Chemistry is explicitly not guaranteed. EA's Launch Update again: "Throughout the year, we'll also be more selective about when Campaign Items and other Special Items receive boosted Chemistry." That means nobody — including us — can tell you whether Future Stars items will carry boosted chemistry links. Anyone publishing a Future Stars chemistry claim today is guessing. Our FC 27 chemistry guide covers what did change: ICON Nation contribution cut from +2 to +1, Hero League contribution cut from +2 to +1.
Here is what EA has NOT published: the release date, the release time, the player list, ratings, the end date, SBC or Objective players, whether there is an Academy tier, pack availability, or whether items get live upgrades. Every one of those is currently leak territory.
Why does Destined for Glory ending today change the market?
Because it changes supply, and it does not change demand the way people assume.
The important nuance most Destined for Glory posts get wrong: the campaign ending does not switch off the cards. EA's Destined for Glory page is explicit that "Destined for Glory Player Items can earn upgrades throughout the entire football season based on real-world performances in their domestic league, with milestones determined by the player's position." The upgrade engine runs on the 2026/27 domestic season, not on the campaign window. The published milestone ladders:
| Position group | Metric | Thresholds and upgrades |
|---|---|---|
| CM, CAM, LW, LM, RW, RM, ST | Combined goals + assists | 3 → +1 Shooting & Passing · 6 → +1 PlayStyle · 10 → +1 OVR · 20 → +1 OVR |
| RB, LB, CB, CDM | Clean sheets | 2 → +1 Defending & Physical · 4 → +1 PlayStyle · 6 → +1 OVR · 10 → +1 OVR |
So a Destined for Glory card is a long-dated asset with a live upgrade path, while a brand-new Future Stars card is an unknown with hype pricing. That asymmetry is the whole trade. We went through the specific sell-or-hold decision in Destined for Glory ends October 9: sell or hold? and the launch-window version of the same pattern in FC 27 sell or hold: the early-access market crash timeline.
What actually happens on a campaign-change Friday evening:
- Packs get opened in volume. Everyone saving for the new promo rips at 18:00. Fodder supply spikes, so 83–85 rated gold prices sag for a few hours.
- Outgoing campaign items wobble. Destined for Glory cards take a short-term hit as attention moves, then recover as the upgrade milestones tick over real-world fixtures.
- New items open high and fall. First-hour Future Stars prices are set by impatience, not by value.
- Chemistry-style and consumable demand spikes as people rebuild squads around new cards.
How should you prep your coins before Team 1 drops?
Four moves, in order of how much they matter.
1. Be liquid, not packed. Coins in hand buy the dip; coins already spent on packs do not. If your plan is to flip the Friday fodder sag, you need an untouched balance before 18:00 BST, not after. Our coins page exists for exactly this timing problem — a paced Comfort Trade top-up before a content drop is the difference between buying the dip and watching it.
2. Do not buy a Future Stars item in the first two hours. This is the single most reliable rule in FUT trading and the one most people break. First-hour prices on a new campaign item are almost always the highest they will be that week.
3. Clear your transfer list and check your tax exposure. The flat 5% sale tax on every transfer-market sale is the long-standing FC rule that community trackers such as FIFPlay list as carrying into FC 27 — EA has published no FC 27 transfer-fee article, so treat it as the expected rule rather than stated policy. On a 200,000-coin sale that is 10,000 coins gone. If you are planning to churn fodder on Friday night, the tax, not the spread, is usually what eats the margin.
4. Know your quick-sell safety net. If you panic-quick-sell something during the rush, recovery is time-limited — see FC 27 quick sell recovery and the seven-day limit before you start clicking.
One more timing consideration: Season 1 ends 22 October, which is also when Season 2 starts. Anything season-locked that you have not finished by then is gone, and that includes Season Pass progress. If your coins have a job in the next 13 days, finishing the pass usually beats speculating on a campaign EA has not even dated — the breakdown is in what expires and what carries over on 22 October and the objective routes are in the Season 1 objectives list.

What will Future Stars items do for your Gallery Set?
This is the part with real, computable value — and the reason Future Stars matters even if you never use one of the cards.
The Season 1 (Combined Rarities) Gallery Set holds 10 items and accepts Ones to Watch, Destined for Glory and Future Stars. Grade thresholds and Token rewards (tracker-captured; EA publishes no numbers):
| Grade | Item Score needed | Tokens at grade | Cumulative Tokens |
|---|---|---|---|
| D | 1,000 | 0 | 0 |
| C | 25,000 | 5 | 5 |
| B | 60,000 | 10 | 15 |
| A | 100,000 | 20 | 35 |
| S | 150,000 | 50 | 85 |
Campaign rarity scores at base gold × 1.25, and Holographic multiplies a further × 1.5 (× 1.875 total). Concretely: an 88-rated campaign item scores 10,375, the same card Holographic scores 15,563. Ten 88-rated campaign items score 103,750 — enough for grade A but not grade S. Ten 88 Holographic items score 155,630, which clears S.
The cost reality is brutal, and worth stating plainly before anyone starts chasing Tokens with Future Stars cards. FUT.GG's capture on 27 September read: "The cheapest lineup that reaches grade S needs 7,175,000 coins in hand and 11,137,000 in total today and earns all 85 Gallery Tokens." That works out to roughly 84,412 coins per Token — about 59 coins per Item Score point, versus roughly 0.78 coins per point for an 84-rated gold fed into a Streamlined SBC. Chasing grade S with purchased campaign cards is around 76× worse value per point than cheap fodder routes.
Where Future Stars genuinely helps: it adds a third eligible rarity to a Set that has been running on two. More eligible cards means cheaper paths to the same Item Score, and the Set does not close with Season 1 — EA's wording is that "Gallery Set releases remain live for the duration of the game." So Future Stars items you pick up cheap in week two of the campaign still count months from now. Full maths in the Season 1 Gallery Set grade and Token breakdown.
Should you believe the leaked Future Stars player lists?
Treat them as unverified. Multiple outlets are publishing "leaked Team 1" names, and in previous years those lists have landed partially right and partially wrong. EA has published nothing, so a leak list is a prediction with a confident headline on it.
What you can reasonably expect from the pattern, flagged as pattern and not fact: Future Stars has historically been a young-player campaign with a main squad plus lower-rated supporting tiers, released in weekly teams, with SBC and Objective items arriving separately from the squad reveal. EA's FC 25 Future Stars campaign ran a main Team 1 squad alongside an 80-rated "Future Stars Academy" tier — that is the artwork at the top of this page, and it is FC 25 art, because EA has released none for FC 27. Whether FC 27 repeats that structure is unknown.
The community mood going in is sceptical rather than excited, and it is worth understanding why: the chemistry change has convinced a chunk of the player base that EA trimmed baseline chemistry specifically so it can sell boosted chemistry back through campaign cards later. That is player speculation, not an EA statement — but it is the lens a lot of people will judge Future Stars pricing through on Friday night. We also saw a run of Destined for Glory Team 1 coverage where the cards that held value were the ones with achievable upgrade milestones, not the highest launch ratings.
The 13-day plan
If you want one sequence to follow:
- Before 18:00 BST today: be liquid, transfer list cleared, Season Pass progress checked.
- 18:00–20:00: watch, do not buy. Note which fodder tiers dipped.
- Friday night into Saturday: buy the fodder dip if you are running SBCs; ignore new campaign cards.
- Sunday–Monday: new-item prices find their floor. This is the buying window.
- Week two of the campaign: cheap Future Stars items for Gallery Set slots.
- Before 22 October: finish anything Season 1 locked. Season 2 starts the same day.

FAQ
What is the FC 27 Future Stars release date? EA has not published one. Community trackers, leakers and outlets consistently expect Friday 9 October 2026 at 18:00 BST (17:00 UTC), straight after Destined for Glory's 9 October finish. FIFPlay and The Mirror both label it unconfirmed. Season 1 ends 22 October 2026, which is the hard outer limit for a Season 1 campaign.
Has EA confirmed Future Stars is in FC 27 at all? Yes — the campaign is named in EA's Launch Update Pitch Notes as one of three Season 1 campaigns alongside Ones to Watch and Destined for Glory, and Future Stars is an eligible rarity in the Season 1 (Combined Rarities) Gallery Set. Only the timing and contents are unpublished.
Do my Destined for Glory cards stop working now that the campaign has ended? No. EA states Destined for Glory items earn upgrades "throughout the entire football season" based on real-world domestic-league performance, with milestones by position — 3 combined goals and assists for the first attacker upgrade, 2 clean sheets for the first defender upgrade. The campaign window ended; the upgrade path did not. Items do stop being eligible if the player leaves their club.
Will Future Stars items have boosted chemistry? Unknown, and do not let anyone tell you otherwise. EA said only that it will be "more selective about when Campaign Items and other Special Items receive boosted Chemistry." No FC 27 campaign chemistry behaviour has been published.
Should I buy Future Stars cards at 18:00 on release day? No. First-hour prices on a new campaign item are set by impatience. The reliable pattern is that prices fall into the weekend and find a floor around Sunday or Monday — that is the buying window, especially if your goal is cheap Gallery Set slots rather than a first-day squad.
How many Gallery Tokens can Future Stars items help me earn? The Season 1 Set pays 85 Tokens in total across five grades (5 / 10 / 20 / 50 at C / B / A / S, cumulative). Future Stars adds a third eligible rarity, which lowers the cost of reaching each grade. But grade S remains terrible coin value — roughly 84,412 coins per Token on FUT.GG's cheapest tracked lineup — so chase C, B and A, not S.
