FC 27 Unfinished SBC? EA's Partial Completion Rewards (All 15 Tiers) and the Finish-or-Quit Math

If you have half a POTM sitting in an SBC you can't afford to finish, FC 27 does not leave you empty-handed. EA SPORTS FC 27 pays a reduced, untradeable reward when a Simplified (Item Score) SBC expires before you complete it, and EA publishes the full payout table on its own help site. Almost nobody has read it. This week a thread on r/EASportsFC titled "Unfinished SBC Kickback" put the table in front of players for the first time, and the replies went straight to the right question: is it better to finish Raphinha, or to stop and take the packs?

This guide gives you all 15 tiers exactly as EA lists them, the live Simplified SBCs and when each one expires, and the coin math for finishing versus quitting. FC 27 is in the final week of Season 1 (it ends on Thursday 22 October 2026), but the four big September Player of the Month SBCs run on into 29–30 October, so you have about two weeks to decide.

TLDR — FC 27 unfinished SBCs in 30 seconds

When a Simplified SBC expires with partial progress, EA says you "might get a reduced untradeable reward" set by the Item Score you submitted. There are 15 bands, from a Bronze Pack (1–500 score) to 30x Giant + 30x Jumbo Gold Player Packs (8,000,001–15,000,000). Your submitted players are never returned. Inside a band, extra score adds nothing: anything from 400,001 to 1,000,000 pays the same 2x Giant + 2x Jumbo. The September POTMs expire 29–30 October (Raphinha: 1,300,000 score, about 1.35M coins at today's cheapest console solution). Treat the partial reward as insurance on fodder you've already spent. It is a poor way to buy packs.

What happens if an FC 27 SBC expires before you finish it?

You keep nothing you submitted, but you get a consolation pack. EA's help article How SBCs work in Ultimate Team says it plainly:

"If an SBC expires after you've made partial progress, you might get a reduced untradeable reward based on the progress you made before the Challenge expired. The Player Items you've already submitted aren't returned to your Club." — EA Help, How SBCs work in Ultimate Team (FC 27)

Three details in that wording matter.

  • It only triggers on expiry. EA says you "don't get submitted Player Items back if you decide not to finish the Challenge". EA describes no way to cash out early. The payout arrives only when the SBC's timer runs out.
  • Your items leave immediately. EA says submitted items are "removed immediately from your Club" on a partial submission, not on completion. Once a player is in the SBC, it's gone.
  • "Might" is EA's word. The reward is described as conditional. EA does not say when it lands after expiry, so check your Unassigned pile and Store once the timer passes.

This only applies to Simplified SBCs, the score-based format EA's Pitch Notes called "Streamlined SBCs" (same system, two official names). Puzzle SBCs, the classic squad-builders with chemistry and rating rules, have no partial progress, so they have nothing to pay back. If you're new to the score system, our FC 27 Streamlined SBCs explainer covers how Item Score works.

What are all 15 FC 27 partial completion reward tiers?

This is EA's table, copied exactly from the help article (checked 16 October 2026). Every reward is untradeable.

Item Score submittedPartial completion reward
1 – 500Bronze Pack
501 – 1,000Large Bronze Pack
1,001 – 3,500Silver Pack
3,501 – 10,000Gold Pack
10,001 – 25,000Small Gold Player Pack
25,001 – 50,000Large Gold Player Pack
50,001 – 100,000Jumbo Gold Player Pack
100,001 – 200,000Giant Gold Player Pack
200,001 – 300,0002x Giant Gold Player Pack
300,001 – 400,0002x Giant Gold Player Pack and a Jumbo Gold Player Pack
400,001 – 1,000,0002x Giant Gold Player Pack and 2x Jumbo Gold Player Pack
1,000,001 – 2,000,0004x Giant Gold Player Pack and 4x Jumbo Gold Player Pack
2,000,001 – 4,000,0008x Giant Gold Player Pack and 8x Jumbo Gold Player Pack
4,000,001 – 8,000,00016x Giant Gold Player Pack and 16x Jumbo Gold Player Pack
8,000,001 – 15,000,00030x Giant Gold Player Pack and 30x Jumbo Gold Player Pack

The table has two traits that most of the advice going around misses.

1. The band floors are the only numbers that matter. A player who banks 100,000 score lands in the 50,001–100,000 band and gets one Jumbo Gold Player Pack. One more point (100,001) moves them up to a Giant Gold Player Pack. One Reddit commenter put "100k" into the Base Hero pick hoping for the Giant pack. If that figure was exact, they are one point short.

2. The 400,001–1,000,000 band is a 600,000-point dead zone. It sits right where half-finished Olise and Raphinha attempts end up. If you are at 420,000 on Olise (700,000 target) and planning to quit, every extra 84 you add up to 1,000,000 buys nothing. Either finish or stop where you are.

Which FC 27 SBCs can pay a partial reward right now?

Only Simplified SBCs that will actually expire count. The always-on Gold Re-Roll and Bronze and Silver Re-roll have end dates in 2035 on FUT.GG's listing, so in practice they never pay out. These are the large live score SBCs, with targets, expiry times and cheapest console solution prices from FUT.GG's SBC listing, read on 16 October 2026:

FC 27 live Simplified SBCs chart showing each Item Score target, cheapest console cost, expiry time and the partial reward one point short of completion Expiry times and prices are FUT.GG's figures for 16 October 2026 and will move. Always check the timer on the SBC tile in-game before you decide.

Two things stand out. First, the POTM SBCs outlive Season 1. Season 1 ends on 22 October, but the September POTM sets don't expire until a week later, so Season 2's first promos land while these are still open. Second, solver prices run at roughly 1.04 coins per Item Score point on console (1,347,340 ÷ 1,300,000) and about 0.98 on PC. Use "one coin per point" as a working rule. Our September POTM score targets breakdown explains why Raphinha costs nearly twice Olise despite being rated two points lower.

Should you finish your POTM SBC or let it expire?

Ignore what you've already put in. That score is gone either way. The real comparison is:

  • Stop now: you receive the partial reward for your current band when the SBC expires.
  • Finish: you pay the coins for the remaining score, receive the player, and give up the partial reward you would otherwise have collected.

So the true cost of finishing is remaining coins + the value of the partial packs you forfeit.

Worked example: Raphinha at 416,000. An r/fut player described exactly this position this week: 416,000 banked and almost no fodder left.

  • Remaining score: 1,300,000 − 416,000 = 884,000
  • Remaining cost at ~1.04 coins per point: about 916,000 coins on console
  • Partial reward you give up by finishing: 2x Giant + 2x Jumbo Gold Player Packs (the 400,001–1,000,000 band)
  • Verdict: finish only if an untradeable 89 Raphinha is worth about 916,000 coins plus four player packs to you. Most players who are "basically out of cards" should stop. Do not add another 84 unless you are committing to the full 1.3M, because nothing up to 1,000,000 improves the payout.

Worked example: Olise at 650,000 (700,000 target). Remaining 50,000 score is about 52,000 coins. Stopping pays 2x Giant + 2x Jumbo. Finishing costs ~52,000 coins plus those four packs, for a 91-rated Olise. That's an easy finish for almost any squad.

The rule of thumb: if you're past about 85% of the target, finish. If you're under about 50% and short of fodder, stop at the band you're in and stop adding score. The middle ground comes down to how much you rate the card. The partial reward should only nudge a decision you've already mostly made.

Is it worth farming packs from unfinished SBCs?

No. This is where the table catches people out. Here is how much Item Score you bank for each player pack returned at every band floor:

Bar chart of Item Score banked per player pack at each FC 27 partial completion band floor, from 10k at the 10,001 floor to 133k at the 8,000,001 floor Each bar is score ÷ player packs at the exact band floor. Bigger bands give you more packs but don't give you better value per point.

At the 100,001 floor you're paying about 100,000 coins of fodder for one Giant Gold Player Pack. At the 1,000,001 floor it gets worse, at 125,000 score per pack. No tracker has published an average value for EA's new Giant or Jumbo Gold Player Packs yet. For scale, FUT Mind's FC 27 averages are about 10,600 coins for a Gold Players Pack and 14,890 for a Giant Gold Pack (a different, non-player pack), and these are community estimates, not guarantees. Even if a Giant Gold Player Pack were worth twice that, you'd still recover well under half of what you fed in.

One player in the Kickback thread said their 50,001-band payout came out at roughly a 15,000-coin pack and thought the tiers might be bugged. That's one unverified report and EA hasn't commented. Still, it fits the arithmetic: a ~50,000-score Jumbo pack worth ~15,000 coins is a ~70% loss.

The one cheap trick worth knowing: several players in the thread plan to drop a single bronze into every expiring Simplified SBC. A bronze carries 20 Item Score on the community-captured score curve, which puts it in EA's 1–500 band, so the SBC should pay a Bronze Pack on expiry for a card you'd otherwise quick-sell. Nobody had posted a confirmed result at the time of writing (one player was waiting on two SBCs ending within 16 hours). The downside is one bronze, so it's a free roll. Just remember EA's own word is "might".

How do you avoid losing value on an FC 27 Simplified SBC?

  • Read the expiry timer before your first submission. EA's own checklist starts with "check the available reward" and "check when the Challenge expires". Starting a 1.3M SBC with nine days left and no fodder plan is how you end up with a 416k stub.
  • Stop just above a band floor, never inside a dead zone. If you're going to quit, check how far you are from the next floor. At 95,000 on the Base Hero pick, 5,001 more score (seven 84s at 830 each) moves you from a Jumbo to a Giant Gold Player Pack. At 420,000 on Olise, nothing short of 1,000,001 changes the payout.
  • Watch the overshoot warning. EA warns you if "your selected Player Items greatly exceed the required Item Score". Never wave it through. Overshoot is score you've paid for that does nothing.
  • Use the cheapest score you have. On our tracking since launch week, the 84 has been the cheapest score per coin. See our FC 27 Item Score table for the curve.
  • Check the item before you submit. A sort bug has removed far more valuable cards than the one displayed, and EA's advisors "can't restore" submitted items. Our SBC wrong-player bug guide explains how to protect yourself.
  • Time it against Season 2. With Season 1 closing on 22 October (what expires and what carries over), new promo SBCs will compete for the same fodder pile right as the POTMs run out. Decide which POTM you're actually finishing now, not on 29 October.

Short on score with the clock running? If the only thing between you and a POTM is a few hundred thousand coins of fodder, our FC 27 team can top up your club at a safe, paced rate so you finish the card instead of settling for the consolation packs.

What hasn't EA said about partial SBC rewards?

The table is official. A few things around it aren't documented anywhere we could find:

  • When the reward arrives. EA only says you get it if the SBC expires. It gives no delivery time.
  • Pack contents. The Small, Large, Jumbo and Giant Gold Player Packs have no published rating floors or item counts in the help article, and no tracker values them yet.
  • Whether the table can change. The help article showed "Updated 4 weeks ago" when we checked on 16 October, so the table has been live since around launch. EA can edit it, so re-check the page before you rely on a band for a big decision.

That's why every pack value in this guide is attributed to a community tracker and the math is written in Item Score. Item Score is the one number EA actually publishes.

FAQ

Do I get my players back if an FC 27 SBC expires unfinished? No. EA states that submitted Player Items "aren't returned to your Club" and that its advisors can't restore them. You only get the partial completion pack for the band you reached.

Is the partial completion reward tradeable? No. EA describes every partial reward as untradeable, so the packs, and anything you pull from them, can't be sold on the Transfer Market.

Does the partial reward work on normal squad SBCs? No. The table applies to Simplified (Item Score) SBCs, which save partial progress. Puzzle SBCs with chemistry and rating requirements are all-or-nothing, so there's no partial progress to reward.

Is 100,000 Item Score enough for the Giant Gold Player Pack? No. 100,000 sits in the 50,001–100,000 band and pays a Jumbo Gold Player Pack. You need 100,001 or more for one Giant Gold Player Pack.

When do the September POTM SBCs expire in FC 27? Per FUT.GG on 16 October 2026: Serie A (Malen) and Bundesliga (Olise) on Thursday 29 October, Premier League (Groß) and LALIGA (Raphinha) on Friday 30 October, Liga F (Pina) on 3 November and Ligue 1 (Ferran Torres) on 10 November. Confirm the timer in-game, since EA can extend or change it.

Can I quit an SBC early to claim the partial reward? No. EA only pays the partial reward when the SBC expires. Until then your progress just sits in the Challenge, and you can keep adding to it or leave it.
