How to Get Primogems Fast in Genshin Impact: Every Repeatable Source, Ranked by Primogems per Minute

Most "fastest way to get Primogems" lists are a pile of activities with no numbers attached, and at least one of them is out of date: the Spiral Abyss stopped resetting twice a month. This guide prices every repeatable source in live Version 7.1 "A Rekviem for the Underworld" (2026-09-22 18:00 to 2026-11-03 17:00 server time), ranks them by Primogems per minute, and names the activities that pay nothing at all.

Quick answer. A free-to-play account that clears everything repeatable earns about 3,660 Primogems in a 30-day month — roughly 22 wishes — from only four sources: Daily Commissions (1,800), the Imaginarium Theater (1,000), the Spiral Abyss Abyssal Moon Spire (800) and the HoYoLAB Daily Check-In (60). Everything else is a one-off or a per-version bonus on top. The best rate per minute is the Theater and the Abyss, not your dailies. The Abyss now resets once a month, on the 16th, and pays 800 per cycle — not 1,200.

How many Primogems can you actually get per month?

Four sources repeat on a fixed clock. Everything else in the game is either a one-time payout or tied to a specific version. Here is the whole recurring ledger, with the reset each one runs on.

SourcePrimogemsCadencePer 30-day month
Daily Commissions60Daily, 04:00 server reset1,800
Imaginarium Theater1,000Per season (monthly)1,000
Spiral Abyss, Abyssal Moon Spire800Monthly, resets on the 16th800
HoYoLAB Daily Check-In60Monthly check-in calendar60
Total3,660

At 160 Primogems per Intertwined Fate, 3,660 is 22 wishes with 80 Primogems left over. A 31-day month pushes it to 3,720 and 23 wishes.

The 60 from Daily Commissions is four commissions at 10 each plus a 20-Primogem bonus from Katheryne for handing in all four. The 60 from the Check-In is not spread across the month: the award calendar carries Primogems on exactly the 4th, 11th and 18th check-in of a month, at 20 each, and those slots track your number of check-ins rather than the calendar date — miss days and the Primogem slots simply arrive later.

Which Primogem sources pay the most per minute?

Absolute volume and rate are different questions, and the answer flips depending on which you care about. Dailies pay the most Primogems per month; they are also the slowest way to earn them.

SourcePrimogemsTime estimatePrimogems per minute
Redemption code20 to 60 per code1 min20 to 60
Imaginarium Theater1,000~50 min per season~20
Spiral Abyss, floors 9 to 12800~45 min per cycle~18
Stygian Onslaught450 per cycle~30 min~15
Daily Commissions1,800 per month~240 min per month~7.5
HoYoLAB Daily Check-In60 per month~30 min per month~2

Those minute figures are our estimates, not published numbers — HoYoverse does not disclose task durations, and a cleared Abyss run is much faster than a first attempt. The ranking is the point, and it has a practical consequence: if you have one free evening a month, spend it on the Theater and the Abyss, not on catching up dailies. Codes are the best rate in the game by a wide margin and the smallest pile; they are worth redeeming the hour they drop, which is why we keep a running October 2026 code list with a dated expired table.

Why the Spiral Abyss pays 800 a month, not 1,200

This is the single most common stale number in Primogem guides. The Spiral Abyss splits into the Abyss Corridor (floors 1 to 8, one-time rewards) and the Abyssal Moon Spire (floors 9 to 12, repeatable). Only the Moon Spire repeats, and it no longer repeats fortnightly: its rewards reset once a month, on the 16th, during the Moment of Syzygy, which also starts a new Blessing of the Abyssal Moon.

Each of floors 9 to 12 pays Primogems at three star thresholds — 50 at three stars, 50 at six stars, 100 at nine stars — so a full nine-star floor is 200 Primogems and four full floors are 800. Clearing the Corridor once is worth a separate 2,400 Primogems that never comes back.

So the monthly figure is 800. Guides still quoting 600 per cycle twice a month, or a 1,200 monthly total, are describing a schedule that ended on June 16, 2024 — before that date the rewards did reset twice a month, in a Waxing Phase from the 1st and a Waning Phase from the 16th.

Two practical notes. Unclaimed Moon Spire rewards are lost at reset — the wiki is specific that the lost-items mail which catches overflowing bounty "does not apply to rewards which were not claimed before the reset, such as primogems" — so the current cycle has to be banked before 2026-10-16 04:00 server time. And since Version 5.1 you can quick-claim full-star rewards on floors 9 and 10 without replaying them, provided you cleared floors 11 and 12 with full stars, which is most of why a repeat cycle is a 45-minute job rather than a two-hour one. If floor 12 is where you stall, our Spiral Abyss floor 12 guide covers the chamber-by-chamber requirements.

The Imaginarium Theater is now your biggest single monthly payout

The Theater quietly overtook the Abyss. Its per-season challenge rewards run across Acts 1 to 10 plus two Arcanum stages, and they total 1,000 Primogems per season: 60, 60, 100, 60, 60, 100, 60, 120, 60, 120 for the ten Acts, then 100 for each Arcanum. Seasons run monthly, so that is 1,000 a month, repeating.

Note that HoYoverse's original Theater reward panel — the one still circulating in screenshots, including the one below — tops out at a 620 per-season total across eight stages. That panel predates the expansion to ten Acts and two Arcanum stages; the current Act table is the 1,000 figure. Two caveats keep this from being free money. Reaching the full 1,000 needs the higher difficulties, and Lunar Mode in particular requires a wide roster — 28 or more owned characters at Level 70 or above — so newer accounts will cap out below the total. And first clears pay a separate 1,800 Primogems in Debut Performance rewards that you can only collect once.

Season rewards do not roll over. The live season closes 2026-11-01 03:59:59 server time; our Imaginarium Theater October 2026 guide has the current lineup and element requirements.

Which repeatable activities pay no Primogems at all?

Half of "farm Primogems faster" advice points at content that pays none. These are the repeatable systems that return zero Primogems, so time spent there is time spent on something else.

  • Weekly bosses (Trounce Domains). The weekly reset on Monday at 04:00 server time returns talent materials, Mora and artifacts. No Primogems.
  • Artifact Strongbox (Mystic Offering). Converts artifacts into artifacts. No Primogems.
  • Ley Line Outcrops and ordinary Domain runs. Resin income is Mora, EXP, artifacts and ascension materials. The periodic Overflowing Favor events double those drops, not Primogems.
  • The free Battle Pass tier. The paid tier is out of scope here; the free track carries no Primogems.
  • Serenitea Pot furnishing grind. The Pot does pay Primogems, but through two one-time channels — 60 at each Trust Rank 1 to 10, and 40 per owned character from Companion Gift Sets — not through repeatable decorating.

The Pot entry is the one worth acting on: if you have a large roster and have never claimed the Companion Gift Sets, that is 40 Primogems per character sitting unclaimed, which for a 40-character account is 1,600 Primogems in an afternoon.

What Version 7.1 adds on top, and which deadlines are already live

Version events are the biggest Primogem layer in any patch, and they are the one layer that expires. These are the live 7.1 items with a dated cut-off, taken from the in-game announcement feed.

One correction worth making, because the headline misleads. The notice is titled "Log In to Claim Primogems ×1,600", which reads like a daily login drip. It is not. The notice splits the event into three parts, and the entire 1,600 sits in Missive of Grace: A Thank-You Gift as four separate mails of 400, keyed to login dates of September 28, 29, 30 and October 1. The part actually named "Resplendent Starlight - Daily Login Event" contains no Primogem rows at all. HoYoverse's wording on the claim window is explicit:

"Each mail can be collected until the end of the 'Missive of Grace: A Thank-You Gift' event. The mail will expire after 30 days, so don't forget to claim the rewards in time."

That sentence is also genuinely ambiguous about whether a player who was offline on those four dates receives all four mails, because the rewards are presented in a Login Time table. Check your in-game mailbox rather than assuming either way.

Two honest blanks: HoYoverse's notices for Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon and Stygian Onslaught say only "Primogems and other rewards" and never print a total, so any specific figure you see for those is a community tally, not an official one. The 450 above is a community figure and we have labelled it as such. For the full patch checklist see our Version 7.1 free Primogems roundup.

How long does it take to save 90 wishes?

The number most players actually want is time-to-pity, not Primogems per month. Hard pity on a Character Event Wish is 90 pulls, which is 14,400 Primogems.

TargetPrimogemsMonths at 3,660/month
10 wishes1,6000.4
1 soft-pity run (~75 wishes)12,0003.3
Hard pity (90 wishes)14,4003.9
Guaranteed 5-star through a lost 50/50 (180 wishes)28,8007.9

Recurring income alone puts a guaranteed 5-star just under four months away, or just under eight if you lose the 50/50. Add a version event stack and codes and that compresses meaningfully — which is why the community treats a stray ten-pull as expensive. One Reddit thread this week argued exactly that point over a single accidental multi: "one ten pull will not stop you having enough wishes to pull who you want," one player wrote, with a second replying that it still costs you the banner guarantee and leaves "160 pulls to guarantee the weapon on worse case scenario." Both are right about different banners, and our pity system explainer separates the two counters.

FAQ

How many Primogems do you get per day in Genshin Impact? Sixty, from Daily Commissions — four commissions at 10 Primogems each plus a 20-Primogem completion bonus. That is the only genuinely daily Primogem source. The HoYoLAB Daily Check-In requires a daily action but only pays Primogems on the 4th, 11th and 18th check-in of each month.

What is the fastest way to get Primogems in Genshin Impact? By rate, redemption codes, then the Imaginarium Theater at roughly 20 Primogems per minute and the Spiral Abyss at roughly 18. By volume, Daily Commissions at 1,800 a month beat everything, they just take about four hours of play spread across the month to collect.

Does the Spiral Abyss still reset twice a month? No. The Abyssal Moon Spire resets once a month, on the 16th, during the Moment of Syzygy. Floors 9 to 12 pay 800 Primogems per cycle, and unclaimed rewards are lost at reset.

How many Primogems is one wish? 160. Ten wishes cost 1,600 and 90 wishes — hard pity on a Character Event Wish — cost 14,400.

Can you get Primogems from weekly bosses? Not from the repeatable weekly reset. Trounce Domains pay talent materials, Mora and artifacts. The Artifact Strongbox and ordinary resin spending pay no Primogems either.

How much does a version update add on top? It varies and HoYoverse does not publish a single total. In live Version 7.1 the dated items we could source add up to roughly 2,900 Primogems across the six-week cycle, with two flagship events declining to print a figure at all.
