There is an argument happening on every Genshin forum right now, and it has a correct answer that almost nobody is citing. One player finishes unlocking Snezhnaya, counts 61 Teleport Waypoints, and checks a guide that says 60. Another player reads the same guide, counts 60, and cannot work out which one they are missing. Both of them are right. They are just standing in different patches.
Snezhnaya shipped with 60 Teleport Waypoints. Version 7.1 added a 61st, and HoYoverse buried the note about it in the least-read paragraph of the patch notes.
This page applies to Version 7.1. Every number below is pulled from HoYoverse's own Version 7.1 Update Details and from the live point data behind the HoYoLAB Interactive Map, checked on 28 September 2026 — not copied from another guide.
Quick answer: Snezhnaya has 61 Teleport Waypoints in Version 7.1. It had 60 before. The new one sits at Tidesong Cavern, in the Fellfrost Peak sub-region, and HoYoverse added it because a new Cryo world boss moved in next door. Unlocking all 61 completes Across the Icebound Snowscape (I) for 5 Primogems — and HoYoverse lowered nothing for players who already had the achievement, so if you finished it at 60 you keep it.
How many Teleport Waypoints does Snezhnaya have?
Sixty-one.
That figure is not an estimate and it is not a community headcount. HoYoLAB's Interactive Map is HoYoverse's own product, and the point database behind it returns exactly 61 entries tagged as Teleport Waypoints inside the Snezhnaya region. The in-game achievement data agrees independently: the completion target for Across the Icebound Snowscape (I) is set to 61.
Two separate first-party systems, same number. That is as settled as a Genshin count gets.
The reason this feels harder than it should is that Snezhnaya is not one map. The achievement spells out the five sub-regions it spans: Everfrozen Earth, Volkodlak Tundra, Flamefeather Valley, White Birch Snowgrave and Fellfrost Peak. Miss one waypoint in any of them and the counter sits stubbornly at 60 out of 61 with no indication of which corner of the tundra you skipped.
Why do so many guides say 60 Snezhnaya waypoints?
Because they were written before 23 September 2026, and because the change was announced in the place patch notes go to die — the "Other" section at the bottom of the optimizations list, below a line about how Lohen's cape moves when he jumps.
Here is HoYoverse's wording, verbatim, from the Version 7.1 Update Details:
"Adds a new Teleport Waypoint to Fellfrost Peak in Snezhnaya following the addition of a new boss enemy. (The number of Teleport Waypoints required to unlock the achievement "Icebound Snowscape (I)" has been adjusted accordingly. Travelers who have already completed this achievement will retain their completion status.)"
Three things are worth pulling out of that sentence.
The waypoint exists because of a boss, not because of a quest. HoYoverse says so directly. That matters for how you get it, and we will come back to it.
The achievement target moved with it. This is the detail that quietly rewrites every older guide. The requirement was not left at 60 with a bonus waypoint floating outside it. It was raised, so the achievement now demands all 61.
Nobody got un-completed. If you unlocked all 60 before the update, the achievement stays green. You do not have to go back for the new one to keep your Primogems — though you will probably want the waypoint anyway.
One small oddity, for the record: HoYoverse's own patch note calls the achievement "Icebound Snowscape (I)", while the achievement in your menu is titled "Across the Icebound Snowscape (I)". Searching the in-game name against the patch-note name is a genuine way to convince yourself the two are unrelated. They are the same achievement.
Where is the new Snezhnaya Teleport Waypoint in Version 7.1?
At Tidesong Cavern, in the Fellfrost Peak sub-region, in the south-east of the Snezhnaya map.
The map data pins it precisely: the entry was created in HoYoLAB's map database on 23 September 2026 at 15:28, the same day HoYoverse published the Version 7.1 Update Details. In the region's internal coordinate space it sits at roughly -7023, -5329, which on the map above is the gold marker south-east of the Fellfrost Peak massif, hard against the coastline.
Two things make it easier to reach than most late-added waypoints:
It looks like a straightforward unlock rather than a quest reward. HoYoverse tied it to a boss arriving, not to a questline completing, and it does not appear in any of the quest-unlock tables that cover Snezhnaya's other gated waypoints. Worth one caveat: Tidesong Cavern is a hidden cave that carries its own Meeting Point Offering System, so if you have not touched that area at all, expect some traversal work before the pin is in reach.
It has a landmark next to it. The new boss arena sits roughly 160 map units away — close enough that if you can find the boss, the waypoint is already on your screen. If you have been farming the boss since launch you may have unlocked this waypoint without registering that it was new.
What does the new boss have to do with it?
Everything, according to the patch note. The waypoint is infrastructure for the fight.
The arrival is Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow, a Cryo world boss — an open-world arena, not a Trounce Domain — claimed with 40 Original Resin. It drops Vagabond's Cracked Armor, a new 4-star world-boss ascension material — HoYoverse's own item record lists its source as "Dropped by Lv. 30+ Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow", which is the world-boss phrasing, not the weekly-boss one.
Getting the category right matters for your resin planning. This is not 7.1's weekly boss; that is Ronova, whom HoYoverse confirmed as the version's weekly boss in its 12 September 2026 press release. A world boss carries no weekly limit, which means Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow is something you may visit several times in a single day when you are ascending a character. That is precisely the profile that makes a waypoint next door worth unlocking on your first trip rather than gliding in from Fellfrost Peak every time.
For the separate weekly-boss side of the patch, our Ronova weekly boss guide covers her resin cost, weekly reset and reward table in detail.
Which achievement do the Snezhnaya waypoints unlock?
Across the Icebound Snowscape (I). It pays 5 Primogems, and it does not live in Wonders of the World — it sits in the region's own achievement category, Snezhnaya: Sacred city of ice and pale star (I). That is the single most common reason players tell each other the achievement does not exist: they are looking in the wrong tab.
The achievement description is unusually specific about what counts, which is useful when you are hunting a missing pin. In HoYoverse's own words, it asks you to "Unlock all Teleport Waypoints in Everfrozen Earth, Volkodlak Tundra, Flamefeather Valley, White Birch Snowgrave, and Fellfrost Peak in the Snezhnaya region."
That is the complete list of areas that count. If a waypoint sits in a Snezhnayan location not named there, it is not part of this achievement — which is worth knowing before you spend an hour combing a sub-area that was never going to move the counter.
Five Primogems is not a payday, and it is worth being honest about that: this is a completionist tick, not a wish. There is one cosmetic worth knowing about, though: clearing every achievement in that category — not this one alone — awards the "Snezhnaya: Long Night" Namecard, which is the only thing in the region you cannot buy, wish for or farm.
The real reward, however, is the travel network. Snezhnaya spans five sub-regions, and the difference between 55 waypoints and 61 is measured in minutes of gliding every single day you play. If you are tracking every small Primogem source in this patch, our 7.1 free Primogems breakdown has the full list with amounts and deadlines.
Which Snezhnaya waypoints are locked behind quests?
Several, and this is where most incomplete counts actually come from. A waypoint you cannot see on the map is not a waypoint you forgot — it is one the game has not spawned yet.
At least four Snezhnayan waypoints only appear once a specific quest reaches a specific step:
- Bell Ringing at Dusk spawns two of them at separate points in the quest.
- Like a Labyrinth Imprisons Her Servants unlocks one.
- Down in the Dumps opens another.
- Great Deeds on the Tundra, an Archon Quest, unlocks one more.
If your counter is stuck and you have swept the map visually, the fix is almost always a world quest rather than a hidden cave. Work the quest log before you work the map. Our guides to Swords and Secrets and Upstream Variations cover two of the 7.1 world quests that gate map progress in the region.
What else is worth unlocking on the Snezhnaya map?
Waypoints are not the only fast-travel infrastructure, and the other two categories are both worth a detour while you are already sweeping a sub-region.
Statues of The Seven: 5. These are teleport points in their own right, and they also fully heal and revive your party — which makes them a better target than a plain waypoint if you are about to attempt something that might kill you. They are the only free full-heal you can teleport to.
Shrines of Depths: 4. These are not travel points, but they are the reason to carry keys. Each one needs a Snezhnaya Shrine of Depths Key, and the chests behind them are among the better one-off rewards in the region.
Teleport Waypoints: 61. The number this page exists for.
How to check your own Snezhnaya waypoint count
You do not have to count pins by hand. The game will tell you.
Open the Achievements menu, go to the Snezhnaya: Sacred city of ice and pale star (I) category and find Across the Icebound Snowscape (I). The progress bar on the achievement reads as a fraction against 61. If it says 60 out of 61 in Version 7.1, you are missing exactly one — and given the patch timing, the new Fellfrost Peak waypoint is the single most likely candidate. Go there first before you start a full sweep.
If the achievement is already marked complete but you count 60 pins on your map, you are one of the players HoYoverse explicitly protected in the patch note. Your completion is locked in. The 61st waypoint is still worth grabbing for the travel time, but it is not costing you anything.
The short version
Snezhnaya has 61 Teleport Waypoints in Version 7.1. It had 60 until HoYoverse added one at Tidesong Cavern in Fellfrost Peak on 23 September 2026, alongside the Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow world boss, and raised the achievement requirement to match. Guides that still say 60 are not wrong about the old number — they are just a patch behind, and the patch note that changed it was third from last inside the "Other" optimizations list, most of the way down a very long page.

FAQ
How many Teleport Waypoints are in Snezhnaya? 61 in Version 7.1. The region launched with 60 and gained one in the 7.1 update.
Where is the new Snezhnaya Teleport Waypoint in 7.1? At Tidesong Cavern in Fellfrost Peak, in the south-east of the region, close to the new Cryo world boss arena.
Is the new Snezhnaya waypoint locked behind a quest? There is no sign that it is. HoYoverse added it alongside a new boss enemy rather than a questline, and it does not appear in the quest-unlock tables for the region. Tidesong Cavern is a hidden cave area, so reaching it may still take some traversal.
Why do guides say Snezhnaya has 60 waypoints? They were written before Version 7.1. HoYoverse announced the extra waypoint in the "Other" optimizations section at the bottom of the 7.1 Update Details, which most summaries skip.
What achievement do Snezhnaya Teleport Waypoints unlock? Across the Icebound Snowscape (I), in the Snezhnaya: Sacred city of ice and pale star (I) achievement category, worth 5 Primogems. It covers Everfrozen Earth, Volkodlak Tundra, Flamefeather Valley, White Birch Snowgrave and Fellfrost Peak.
Did the 7.1 update reset the waypoint achievement? No. HoYoverse's patch note states that Travelers who had already completed it retain their completion status, even though the requirement was raised to 61.
How many Statues of The Seven are in Snezhnaya? Five. They work as teleport points and also fully heal and revive your party.
How many Shrines of Depths are in Snezhnaya? Four. Each one opens with a Snezhnaya Shrine of Depths Key.
Which boss is next to the new waypoint? Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow, a Cryo world boss that costs 40 Original Resin to claim and drops Vagabond's Cracked Armor. It is not 7.1's weekly boss — that is Ronova.
How do I find out which waypoint I am missing? Check the progress fraction on Across the Icebound Snowscape (I), under the Snezhnaya: Sacred city of ice and pale star (I) achievement category. If you are one short in 7.1, check Fellfrost Peak first, then work through your unfinished world quests — several Snezhnayan waypoints only spawn at a specific quest step.
