Genshin 7.2 Release Date: Update Window, Special Program and Your Server's Time

Version 7.1 "A Rekviem for the Underworld" went live on 23 September 2026, which means the question that follows every Genshin update is already live too: when does Version 7.2 arrive, and how much time is left to finish 7.1?

HoYoverse has published nothing about Version 7.2 as of 26 September 2026 — no subtitle, no date, no character drip-marketing. That is normal this early in a cycle, and it is why most "7.2 release date" pages are guessing. This one derives the date from HoYoverse's own publishing record, shows the arithmetic, and names the notice that will confirm it.

Quick answer: Version 7.2 is expected on Wednesday 4 November 2026, with update maintenance starting at 06:00 (UTC+8) on 4 November and lasting roughly 5 hours. On your own server clock that is 4 Nov 06:00 for Asia, 3 Nov 23:00 for Europe, and 3 Nov 17:00 for America. The date is not officially announced yet — it comes from a run of seven consecutive versions spaced exactly 42 days apart, all going live on a Wednesday. The Version 7.2 Special Program (where the livestream codes drop) should land around 23–24 October 2026, and the notice that makes the date official is the Version 7.2 Update Maintenance Preview, historically posted on the Monday before launch, ~11:10 (UTC+8).

When is the Genshin 7.2 release date?

Wednesday 4 November 2026. Servers go down for maintenance at 06:00 on 4 November (UTC+8) and the game is usually playable again about five hours later, around 11:00 (UTC+8).

Treat that as a high-confidence projection, not an announcement. Across all three HoYoLAB news categories — Notices, Events and Info — not one post mentions Version 7.2; the newest version-level posts are all 7.1. What is published is a schedule pattern so consistent that it is effectively a calendar.

How do we know the date if HoYoverse has not announced Version 7.2 yet?

Because Genshin has run on a 42-day version cycle for seven versions in a row, and each one went live on a Wednesday. These are the update dates taken from HoYoverse's own Update Details notices, not from a fan tracker:

VersionWent live (server time)WeekdayGap from previous
Luna IV14 January 2026Wednesday—
Luna V25 February 2026Wednesday42 days
Luna VI8 April 2026Wednesday42 days
Luna VII20 May 2026Wednesday42 days
Luna VIII1 July 2026Wednesday42 days
7.012 August 2026Wednesday42 days
7.123 September 2026Wednesday42 days
7.2 (projected)4 November 2026Wednesday42 days

Six consecutive 42-day intervals, zero drift — and it is stronger than it looks, because the notices themselves run on a fixed clock. At all six of those boundaries the Update Details notice went out at exactly 07:00 (UTC+8) on launch day, and the Update Maintenance Preview at exactly 11:10 (UTC+8) on the Monday before — 43 hours and 50 minutes ahead of it, every time. A studio posting the same two notices to the minute, six versions running, is not improvising its schedule.

The one honest caveat: HoYoverse has extended a version before, usually around anniversaries or a large regional release, and it announces such a delay in exactly the same notice slot. Nothing currently in the feed suggests an extension for 7.2 — but "42 days, seven times running" is a pattern, not a promise.

What time does Version 7.2 maintenance start on your server?

Genshin maintenance is a single global instant, announced on the Asia server clock (UTC+8). It is not "06:00 wherever you live." If you play on Europe or America, your servers go down on 3 November, the day before the Asia date.

ServerMaintenance beginsEstimated back online
Asia (UTC+8)Wed 4 Nov, 06:00Wed 4 Nov, ~11:00
Europe (UTC+1)Tue 3 Nov, 23:00Wed 4 Nov, ~04:00
America (UTC-5)Tue 3 Nov, 17:00Tue 3 Nov, ~22:00
UTCTue 3 Nov, 22:00Wed 4 Nov, ~03:00

Genshin's server offsets are fixed year-round — Europe stays UTC+1 and America stays UTC-5 regardless of daylight saving. That matters at this boundary specifically, because most of Europe and North America change their clocks in late October: your local time for the 7.2 downtime will be an hour off the conversion you would have made in September.

The five-hour estimate comes from the 7.1 precedent, where the Update Details notice stated the window plainly: "Update maintenance begins 2026/09/23 06:00 (UTC+8) and is estimated to take 5 hours." It paid 60 Primogems per hour of downtime — 300 Primogems of Maintenance Compensation — plus a separate 300 Primogems of Issue Fix Compensation a few days later, which carried its own shorter claim deadline. Expect the same in 7.2, delivered by in-game mail that expires after 30 days — read the notice for the deadline rather than assuming it.

Pre-install as soon as the download opens. HoYoverse sized the 7.1 pre-download at roughly 10 GB on PC and 4 GB on mobile, and pre-installing is the difference between playing minutes after servers return and queueing behind a full download.

When is the Version 7.2 Special Program, and when do the codes drop?

The Special Program is the livestream that reveals the version's banners, events and subtitle — and it is where the three livestream redemption codes are announced. Working backwards from the last two versions:

  • Version 7.0 Special Program: Friday 31 July 2026 — 12 days before the 12 August launch.
  • Version 7.1 Special Program: Saturday 12 September 2026 — 11 days before the 23 September launch.

Applied to a 4 November launch, that puts the Version 7.2 Special Program in the window of Friday 23 October to Saturday 24 October 2026. The announcement post confirming the exact date and time typically appears on HoYoLAB about five days before the stream, so watch the feed from roughly 18 October.

The codes themselves are worth the calendar entry. The 7.1 stream handed out three codes — Rekviem, Vesna0923 and PrimaDonna — for 300 Primogems in total, plus Mora and enhancement materials. Two things to know before you plan around them:

  • Livestream codes are short-lived, but the exact lifetime varies by version. The commonly repeated "always exactly 24 hours" line is not a rule HoYoverse publishes, and the 7.1 codes' expiry was reported inconsistently across the community. Redeem the moment they appear on stream, not the next morning.
  • Never enter a code you have not seen on an official surface. The stream overlay, HoYoLAB's post and the in-game redemption page are sources; a screenshot of a screenshot is not.

If you want the mechanics of redemption itself — web form versus in-game menu, Adventure Rank requirements, the "code expired" and "already redeemed" errors — that is covered in our guide to redeeming Genshin Impact codes, and the last stream's haul is documented in the Genshin 7.1 livestream codes post.

What ends when Version 7.1 ends?

A projected release date is only useful if you know what it takes away from you. These deadlines are printed in the 7.1 notices and are shown on your server clock, so the dates below are the same numbers on every server:

WhatDeadline (server time)Note
Phase 1 Event Wish "When Warm Winds Cavort"13 October, 17:59Vesna banner; 4-stars Diona, Faruzan, Chongyun
Phase 2 bannersOpens ~13 October, runs to version endSkirk and Escoffier named in the official 7.1 press release; phase dates not printed in a notice yet
"Moontrace" Battle Pass — purchase2 November, 02:59Buying closes one hour before the BP itself
"Moontrace" Battle Pass — claim rewards2 November, 03:59Unclaimed levels are lost
"Tabletop Troupe" event3 November, 14:59Adventure's Eve gathering
Archon Quest completion reward3 November, 14:59The Epilogue is the time-limited part

The Battle Pass pair is the trap that costs the most Primogems. Purchase closes at 02:59 on 2 November, a full hour before the reward-claim window shuts at 03:59 — and both are roughly two days before the version boundary, not on it. If you plan to buy Gnostic Hymn on the last evening, you will find the shop closed while the rewards page is still open.

A wish-counter note as well: pity and the guarantee carry across the version boundary, and the 7.1 notices confirm the guarantee is shared between the Character Event Wish and Character Event Wish-2. Unused Intertwined Fate keeps too — but a banner you skipped does not come back.

Which notice actually makes the 7.2 date official?

The Version 7.2 Update Maintenance Preview. It is the first post that states the maintenance date and time as fact, and on the last six versions it appeared on the Monday before launch at 11:10 (UTC+8) — which for a 4 November launch means Monday 2 November 2026.

Here is the 7.1 edition, verbatim, so you know exactly what you are looking for:

"The development team will begin update maintenance on 2026/09/23 06:00 (UTC+8). Once maintenance is complete, the game will be updated to the all-new Version 7.1: A Rekviem for the Underworld."

The same post also told players where the detail would land: "please see the Version Update Details notice to be posted at 2026/09/23 07:00 (UTC+8)." That second notice — the Update Details — is the one carrying compensation amounts, event schedules and the full change list, and it goes up one hour after maintenance starts, not before.

So the sequence for 7.2, in the order you will actually see it:

  • ~18 October — Special Program announcement post (date and time of the stream).
  • 23–24 October — Special Program: banners, subtitle, events, and the three redemption codes.
  • ~26 October onward — individual event and Event Wish notices, each with printed deadlines.
  • Monday 2 November, 11:10 (UTC+8) — Update Maintenance Preview. The date becomes official here.
  • Wednesday 4 November, 06:00 (UTC+8) — maintenance begins.
  • Wednesday 4 November, 07:00 (UTC+8) — Version Update Details notice.

What is confirmed about Version 7.2, and what is only a leak?

Confirmed: nothing. No subtitle, no banner line-up, no character roster, no date. That is the accurate answer on 26 September 2026, and any page telling you otherwise is repeating a beta datamine.

The community is currently circulating a lot of structural claims about the Snezhnaya arc — how many versions the Archon Quest will span, how many weekly bosses are coming, which characters are queued. When players ask whether those claims are true, the answer that keeps coming back is the correct one: it is not confirmed, it is leaks and speculation, and we do not know.

Two things you can rely on instead:

  • The cycle. 42 days, Wednesday launches, two banner phases, a Special Program 11–12 days out. Seven versions of evidence.
  • The notices. Every number that matters is printed in an official notice, with a timestamp, before it takes effect.

What should you do in the six weeks before 7.2?

Practical, in priority order:

  • Open the 7.1 maintenance compensation mail (300 Primogems) if it is still unread — mail expires 30 days after delivery, so the 23 September batch lapses around 23 October.
  • Handle Battle Pass by 2 November — 02:59 to buy, 03:59 to claim.
  • Bank Primogems through the Phase 2 boundary on 13 October if you are undecided; pity carries, regret does not.
  • Clear both Spiral Abyss and Imaginarium Theater cycles — both reset inside 7.1, so there are two of each before 7.2.
  • Set a reminder for 23 October and a second one for the stream itself, so you catch the codes live.

FAQ

What is the Genshin 7.2 release date? 4 November 2026 is the projected date, based on seven consecutive 42-day version cycles, all launching on a Wednesday. Maintenance should begin at 06:00 (UTC+8) on 4 November and take about five hours. HoYoverse has not announced it — the confirmation comes with the Version 7.2 Update Maintenance Preview, expected Monday 2 November.

Has HoYoverse confirmed Version 7.2 yet? No. As of 26 September 2026 there is no official post about Version 7.2 in any HoYoLAB news category, and no in-game notice mentions it. The first official confirmation of the version's contents comes at the Special Program, and of the date at the Maintenance Preview notice.

What time does 7.2 maintenance start for Europe and America? 3 November for both: 23:00 for Europe (UTC+1) and 17:00 for America (UTC-5), corresponding to 06:00 on 4 November on the Asia server. Genshin server offsets do not observe daylight saving, so recheck your local conversion after the late-October clock change.

When is the Version 7.2 Special Program? Expected between Friday 23 October and Saturday 24 October 2026 — the 7.0 stream ran 12 days before launch and the 7.1 stream 11 days before. The announcement post with the exact time usually appears around five days ahead.

Will there be 7.2 livestream codes? Almost certainly, since every recent Special Program has released three codes. The 7.1 stream gave 300 Primogems across three codes. They are short-lived, the exact lifetime is not a published rule, and you should only enter strings you have seen on an official HoYoverse surface.

How long is Version 7.1? Six weeks — 23 September to 3 November 2026, with the version's final deadlines landing 2–3 November and Phase 2 banners opening around 13 October.

Does my pity reset when Version 7.2 starts? No. Pity and the guarantee carry across version boundaries, and the guarantee is shared between the Character Event Wish and Character Event Wish-2. Only the banners themselves change.
