Most Vesna team lists you will find today are a row of four portraits with no explanation of why those four. That is a problem for Vesna specifically, because her team is not a set of slots you fill with the strongest available character. Two of her passives actively reward you for choosing one element over another, and one of her best partners is locked behind a quest the guides do not mention.
This is a team-building guide for Vesna in Version 7.1, built from her published talent text rather than from early tier lists. Everything numeric below is quoted from in-game talent descriptions. Where a number is my own arithmetic on top of those descriptions, it is labelled as derived.
Quick answer: Vesna's strongest realistic team is Vesna plus a Cryo character who carries a Stellar Glimmer buff, plus one more Cryo or Anemo body, plus a healer or shielder. Qiqi is the single best partner if you have unlocked her Witch's Revelation, because that passive hands the party +50% Cryo Swirl and Stellar Swirl reaction damage. Diona is the free version of the same idea, and she does not need C6 to do it. Every Cryo or Anemo teammate adds +6% ATK to Vesna; every off-element teammate gives her +25 Elemental Mastery instead, so mixed teams are a genuine trade rather than a free bonus.
Who is Vesna and what does her team have to enable?
HoYoverse's own Version 7.1 update notice describes Vesna as "an Anemo DMG dealer who enables her party to trigger Stellar Swirl reactions and, under certain conditions, can also deal Stellar Swirl DMG herself."
That sentence is the whole brief. Vesna is Anemo, five stars, and uses a sword. Her element comes from a Stellar Linchpin rather than a Vision, and she released on 2026-09-23 at 11:00 GMT+8 alongside Vodyanitsa.
Stellar Swirl is the Anemo-and-Cryo member of the Stellar Glimmer reaction family. An Anemo damage instance on a Cryo-affected target creates a Stellar Vortex that lasts 3 seconds and then detonates for area Cryo damage. Trigger it three times and the Vortex upgrades to Level 2, with bigger damage and a wider radius; three more triggers after that and it detonates immediately. If you have not read up on the family yet, the split between the two branches is covered in our Stellar-Conduct vs Stellar Swirl explainer, and the separate Lunar family is in Lunar reactions explained.
The practical consequence: Vesna needs Cryo on the enemy, and she needs it reliably. That is the first slot in every team below.
Why is Truth Prevails a trade and not a bonus?
This is the passive that decides her roster, and it is the one most lists skip.
Vesna's 4th Ascension Passive, Truth Prevails, applies while she is in her Radiance: Stellar Swirl state. Its text is explicit: for every Cryo or Anemo character in her current party, Vesna's ATK increases by 6%; and for every character of all other elemental types in her current party, her Elemental Mastery increases by 25 instead.
Read that carefully. It is not "+6% ATK per Cryo ally, plus EM from everyone else." It is one or the other, per teammate. A full Cryo and Anemo party gives Vesna roughly +18% ATK from her three allies and zero Elemental Mastery from the passive. Swap one ally for a Hydro healer and you trade 6% ATK for 25 EM.
Which side of that trade you want depends on her other passive.
Does Vesna need a separate Stellar Swirl enabler?
No, and this is the most common mistake in live discussion right now.
Vesna's Stellar Jubilee Passive, Splendid Prelude, reads: "When party members trigger Cryo Swirl, it will be changed to a Stellar Swirl reaction, and party members' Base DMG for the Stellar Swirl will be increased based on Vesna's ATK. Every 100 ATK she has increases the Base Stellar Swirl DMG by 0.7%. The maximum DMG increase that can be gained this way is 14%. After a party member triggers a Stellar Swirl reaction nearby, Vesna enters the Radiance: Stellar Swirl state for 8s."
Three things fall out of that.
First, Vesna is her own enabler. She converts the party's Cryo Swirl into Stellar Swirl by herself, so you do not need to bring Odette, Sandrone or a Cryo Traveler just to unlock the reaction. A plain Cryo applier is enough.
Second, her ATK contribution to party Stellar Swirl damage caps. At 0.7% per 100 ATK with a 14% ceiling, the cap lands at 2,000 ATK — that figure is my arithmetic on the quoted talent numbers, not a printed value. Past roughly 2,000 ATK, stacking more ATK stops improving the party's base Stellar Swirl damage. It still improves her own Anemo hits, but the shared buff is done. That weakens the case for a pure Cryo-and-Anemo party built purely to farm Truth Prevails ATK stacks, and strengthens the case for teammates who bring real buffs.
Third, her Radiance state has an 8-second window that refreshes whenever a nearby ally triggers Stellar Swirl. Truth Prevails only applies inside that window, so the team needs to keep Stellar Swirl firing, not just once at the start of a rotation.
Her own kit supports a long on-field turn. The Elemental Skill, The Art of Victory, puts her into Armed for Action for up to 15 seconds with Anemo-infused attacks that cannot be overridden, and her Burst costs 60 energy on a 15-second cooldown. Full kit detail, ascension costs and talent priority live in the Vesna build guide.
Is Qiqi really the best Vesna teammate?
On paper, yes — and it surprises people, because Qiqi is a launch-era five-star most accounts have shelved.
Qiqi has a Witch's Revelation passive called Seven Sacred Treasures. Inside it: "Radiance: Stellar Swirl: Cryo Swirl and Stellar Swirl reaction DMG dealt is increased by 50%." The same passive also grants +50% to Superconduct and Stellar-Conduct damage on the other branch, and reduces the cooldown of her Elemental Skill, Adeptus Art: Herald of Frost, to 15 seconds.
A party-wide +50% on the exact reaction Vesna's whole team is built around is far larger than anything else on offer. Qiqi also happens to be a healer, which covers the survivability slot, and she is Cryo, so she still pays Vesna's +6% ATK under Truth Prevails rather than the EM alternative.
Two honest caveats.
The buff is conditional on the Herald of Frost being on the field. Her Skill's base numbers are a 15-second duration on a 30-second cooldown, so without the Witch's Revelation cooldown effect you get roughly half uptime. Worth noting: in practice that effect reduces the remaining cooldown by 15 seconds when used rather than changing the base cooldown, and it is not affected by party-wide cooldown reduction such as Anemo Resonance.
And the whole thing is gated. Witch's Revelation talents come from quests, and the unlock condition is printed plainly: "Each Witch's Revelation quest corresponds to one character. Obtain the corresponding character and level up the character to Lv. 70 or higher to unlock the relevant quest." Qiqi's quest is Instruction of Curious Form. If your Qiqi is sitting at Level 1 in the bottom corner of your roster, she is not a Vesna teammate yet — she is a project.
Does Diona need C6 to buff Vesna?
No. This is doing the rounds right now and it is wrong.
The claim circulating in community threads is that Qiqi only needs to land her Skill, while "Diona needs to be C6 and do her burst before the team gets her stellar glimmer buffs." Diona's Witch's Revelation passive, Choice Treasures, says otherwise: "Within 20s after using the Elemental Skill Icy Paws, Diona will also fire off three Icy Paws when party members trigger Superconduct, Stellar-Conduct, Cryo Swirl, or Stellar Swirl reactions."
It is her Elemental Skill, with a 20-second window, firing once every 3.5 seconds, and there is no constellation requirement anywhere in the text. Those bonus Icy Paws cannot generate Elemental Particles and will not shield on hit, which is the real limitation — not a C6 gate.
That said, the people pushing the C6 claim are half-right, just for the wrong reason. Diona's sixth constellation, Cat's Tail Closing Time, grants +200 Elemental Mastery to characters inside her Signature Mix radius while above 50% HP. And because Witch's Revelation also rewrites some of a character's constellations, the upgraded version of that same C6 adds +25% to Diona's Max HP and a field-bounded +40% to Cryo Swirl and Stellar Swirl reaction damage for characters standing in the Signature Mix radius.
So the accurate version is: C0 Diona already delivers the Stellar Glimmer passive from her Skill, while C6 plus Witch's Revelation turns her into a near-Qiqi-tier buffer — with the important difference that Qiqi's +50% follows the party and Diona's +40% requires everyone to stand in her field.
Diona is also the free answer. She is a four-star who has been boosted on both 7.1 Phase 1 banners, alongside Faruzan and Chongyun — all three of whom are Cryo or Anemo, which means all three pay the +6% ATK side of Truth Prevails. Her own Witch's Revelation quest is Special Blend's Instruction, with the same Level 70 gate.
How good is Vodyanitsa in a Vesna team?
She is the designed partner, and her numbers are built for this exact reaction.
Vodyanitsa's 1st Ascension Passive converts a Stellar Vortex into a Wandering Vortex; generating or detonating one reduces nearby opponents' Anemo resistance by 35% for 6 seconds. The same passive also extends a nearby ally's Radiance: Stellar Swirl state by 4 seconds while her Song of Ages Past effect is up — which directly props up the 8-second window Vesna's Truth Prevails depends on. Her 4th Ascension Passive adds flat reaction damage scaling off her health: every 1,000 Max HP above 40,000 adds +260 Stellar Swirl reaction damage, capped at 6,500, plus +140 Hydro and Cryo damage capped at 3,500. Her Elemental Skill, on a 16-second cooldown, also cuts enemy Hydro and Cryo resistance and provides interruption resistance and periodic healing.
The catch is Truth Prevails again. Vodyanitsa is Hydro, so she pays Vesna +25 Elemental Mastery instead of +6% ATK. Given that Vesna's ATK contribution to party Stellar Swirl base damage caps at the 14% ceiling anyway, that trade is fine — it is a real trade, not a penalty. Her full kit is in the Vodyanitsa build guide.
What are the actual Vesna teams?
The ceiling team. Vesna, Qiqi with Witch's Revelation unlocked, Vodyanitsa, and one more Cryo or Anemo body. Qiqi supplies +50% reaction damage and healing, Vodyanitsa shreds Anemo resistance and adds flat Stellar Swirl damage, and the fourth slot keeps the ATK side of Truth Prevails paying out.
The free team. Vesna, Diona, Chongyun, and a healer. All three supports were boosted on both Phase 1 banners, so a single ten-pull run during this banner can realistically assemble it. Diona provides Cryo application, shielding and — with her quest done — the Stellar Glimmer passive; Chongyun adds Cryo application and a second +6% ATK stack.
The no-quest team. Vesna, any reliable off-field Cryo applier, Vodyanitsa or another support, and a healer. This is the version that works today if you have not touched Witch's Revelation. It loses the +50% reaction buff, which is a large loss, but Splendid Prelude means the core reaction still fires.
A note on timing if you are deciding whether to pull: the Phase 1 drop-rate boost on Vesna's Event Wish ends 2026-10-13 at 17:59 server time — each server region reaches that moment at its own local clock — and HoYoverse's own version panel lists the Phase 2 Event Wishes for Skirk and Escoffier as "Available from 10/13/2026." The full dated breakdown is in the October 2026 banner schedule.
What HoYoverse has not published about Vesna's teams
Being straight about the edges of the evidence:
There is no official "best team" for Vesna, and there are no published damage numbers comparing these comps. Everything above is read off talent text, not measured in a controlled test.
The 2,000 ATK threshold for Splendid Prelude's cap is derived arithmetic on the stated 0.7% per 100 ATK and 14% ceiling. It is not a figure HoYoverse printed.
One small inconsistency worth flagging: the community wiki maintains a category of Stellar Glimmer reaction enabling talents that lists Odette, Sandrone and the Cryo Traveler but has not added Vesna's Splendid Prelude, despite near-identical enabler wording. That looks like a cataloguing gap rather than a mechanical difference, but it is why you will see her omitted from some enabler lists.
Also note that Vesna's exploration passive, The Grand Circuit, explicitly "does not take effect in Domains, Trounce Domains, or the Spiral Abyss" — so the free Stamina and hover mobility that make her so popular in the open world contribute nothing to endgame team value.

FAQ
Does Vesna need a Cryo character in her team? Yes, in practice. Her Stellar Swirl conversion needs Cryo on the target, so at least one reliable Cryo applier is effectively mandatory.
Can Charlotte work in a Vesna team? Yes. Because Splendid Prelude converts the party's Cryo Swirl itself, a plain Cryo applier is enough and Charlotte will enable the reaction. She simply brings no Stellar Glimmer buff of her own, so she is a functional but not optimal pick.
Is Qiqi or Diona the better Vesna support? Qiqi, if her Witch's Revelation is unlocked — +50% Cryo Swirl and Stellar Swirl damage is the biggest single buff available. Diona is the accessible version and is far cheaper to obtain.
Do I need Diona at C6 for her Vesna buff? No. Choice Treasures triggers off her Elemental Skill with no constellation requirement. C6 is a separate, optional upgrade: +200 Elemental Mastery inside her Signature Mix radius, and once Witch's Revelation rewrites that constellation, a further +40% Cryo Swirl and Stellar Swirl reaction damage for characters standing in the field.
Does a mixed-element team hurt Vesna? Not exactly. Truth Prevails pays +6% ATK per Cryo or Anemo ally and +25 Elemental Mastery per off-element ally, so it is a swap. Since her party Stellar Swirl buff caps at 14%, taking a strong off-element support is usually worth the traded ATK.
When does the Vesna banner end? The Phase 1 drop-rate boost closes at 17:59 server time on 2026-10-13, reached at each region's own local clock.
The short version
Vesna's team is decided by two passives, not by a tier list. Splendid Prelude means she enables Stellar Swirl on her own, so any dependable Cryo applier unlocks the core loop. Truth Prevails means each teammate pays her either +6% ATK or +25 Elemental Mastery, never both, which makes mixed teams a deliberate trade. The biggest buff on the board belongs to Qiqi's Witch's Revelation at +50% reaction damage, with Diona as the free and constellation-free alternative — and both sit behind a Level 70 quest nobody puts in the portrait grids. Applies to Version 7.1 as of 2026-10-08.
