If you have reached The World Tree in Palworld 1.0 and every ore node and log you walk up to just vanishes, you are not hitting a bug — you are missing World Tree Holy Water. This one consumable gates the entire endgame gathering loop, and it is also half of the recipe for Awakening, the permanent stat boost you need to beat the Hard Mode tower bosses. This guide covers what Holy Water does, the most common mistake that makes it look broken, where to farm it fastest, and exactly how much you need for Awakening — all verified against the current 1.0.5 build.
If the climb to 80 is the part you want to skip, our Palworld leveling service handles it on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, on your own world or a dedicated server.

Key takeaways
- World Tree Holy Water is a temporary buff. While it is active, World Tree resources (Paloxite, Mythical Wood) stay solid so you can harvest them. Without it, they disappear the moment you get close.
- The #1 mistake: your active Pal has to be buffed too. If you drink Holy Water but your out Pal hasn't, the nodes still vanish when the Pal approaches. Water the Pal, holster it, or give it a World Tree passive.
- Fastest non-combat source: Teafant Springs — stone fountains dotted around the World Tree that each give 30 Holy Water roughly every 10 minutes.
- You need 10 Holy Water + 50 matching Radiant Gems per Awakening Crystal — the recipe that permanently raises a Pal's stats by ×1.1.
- Patch 1.0.3 cut Holy Water's weight from 1 to 0.1 and made it obtainable from fishing and World Tree expeditions, not just springs and Pal drops.
What does World Tree Holy Water do in Palworld?
World Tree Holy Water is a rare material described in-game as "Sacred water brimming with the energy of the World Tree. It purifies all things and awakens latent powers." It has two jobs, and the first one trips up nearly everyone who reaches the endgame.
When you consume it, World Tree resource nodes stop despawning as you approach them for a set period. The World Tree is a radiation zone full of high-tier materials — Paloxite and Mythical Wood chief among them — and by default those nodes evaporate the instant you or a Pal get near, so you can never actually mine or chop them. Holy Water suspends that behavior. As the official material tooltip puts it: "When consumed, World Tree resources will not vanish when approached for a period of time."
The second job is crafting: Holy Water is a required ingredient for Awakening Crystals, which is where the real endgame value lives (more on that below).
Applies to: Palworld version 1.0.5 (build `1.102.999`, the current live build as of late September 2026). Holy Water was added in the 1.0 launch on July 10, 2026, and rebalanced in patch 1.0.3.
"My Holy Water isn't working" — the vanishing-resource fix
This is the single most-asked Holy Water question, and it comes up on r/Palworld constantly: "Am I doing Holy Water wrong? I drank it and the resources still disappear."
The answer is almost always the same: your active Pal is not buffed. Holy Water applies its effect to whatever is near the node. You drank it, so nodes stay solid for you — but the Pal you have summoned did not, so as soon as your Pal walks up to a node, that node still vanishes. Because your Pal is usually the one auto-gathering, it looks like the buff does nothing.
There are three clean fixes, in order of convenience:
- Holster your Pal while you harvest. Put your Pal away (the resources only vanish when a non-buffed character gets close), gather the nodes yourself, then bring the Pal back out. Simplest one-off fix.
- Give your Pal Holy Water too. Feeding the same buff to your active Pal keeps nodes solid for both of you — best if you want your Pal doing the mining.
- Use a World Tree passive skill (permanent fix). The seven World Tree passive skills all carry the same trait: World Tree resources will not vanish when the Pal approaches. Breed or roll one of those passives onto your main mount, and it — and you, while riding — get the Holy Water effect permanently, no drinking required. This is the endgame solution players settle on.
One player on r/Palworld summed up the confusion perfectly after solving it: "It didn't even occur to me to water my pals." Another confirmed the fix live: "Just juiced myself and my Frostallion Noct and I was able to harvest free and easy." The blue glow staying on you after the nodes still vanish is the tell — you're buffed, your Pal isn't.
Where to farm World Tree Holy Water (all sources)
There is no map marker for Holy Water, which is why it feels scarce. Here are every current source, ranked by how reliable it is.
1. Teafant Springs (best passive source)
Teafant Springs are small stone fountains found throughout the World Tree. Interacting with one gives you Holy Water directly — no combat, no processing. According to game8's farming data, each spring provides 30 World Tree Holy Water once roughly every 10 minutes, then goes on cooldown. Because they respawn on a timer, the efficient play is to build a short circuit between two or three springs and rotate through them so you're never standing around waiting on a single fountain.
Known spring clusters players have mapped:
- Southwest of the Gilded City Ruins Watchtower — a spring tucked inside some castle walls.
- The Dusty Ravine circuit — a second loop worth running so you can alternate with the first.
- Around Lacrymal Shoal, the World Tree's southwestern fast-travel point, and the central World Tree area, both have additional Teafant fountains.
game8 itself calls the springs route "inefficient and not a recommended farming method" if you need Holy Water in bulk — it's steady but slow. For a few crystals it's fine; for grinding out a whole Awakened team, combine it with the sources below.
2. World Tree Pals and Alpha Pals
Killing or harvesting World Tree Pals drops shards, which you process at the Ancient Recycler (World Tree tech) into a stream of endgame materials — Ancient Cores, schematics, single-use implants for the surgery table, and Holy Water along the way. Alpha Pals in the World Tree are the densest version of this loop and double as your Radiant Gem farm, so a single World Tree kill-run feeds both halves of the Awakening recipe at once. It's grindy — one player admitted running it "for hours to get legendary schematics" — but it's the highest-throughput option.
3. Fishing and expeditions (added in 1.0.3)
Patch 1.0.3 (August 12, 2026) opened up two low-effort sources: Holy Water can now be pulled from World Tree fishing spots, the Large Fishing Pond base structure, and World Tree expeditions you send Pals out on. The same patch also dropped Holy Water's item weight from 1 to 0.1 and lengthened its buff duration, so carrying a big stack is no longer a burden and each drink lasts longer. If you have base infrastructure at the endgame, parking a Large Fishing Pond and running expeditions is the most hands-off trickle.

How much Holy Water you need for Awakening
This is why Holy Water matters beyond gathering. Awakening is a one-time, irreversible upgrade that multiplies a Pal's HP, Attack and Defense by ×1.1 and gives it a gold aura and a yellow level border. It's the final stat track on top of Condensing, Pal Souls, Stat Fruits and Trust — and you cannot skip it if you want a team that survives Hard Mode tower bosses like Zenara & Astralym.
To Awaken a Pal you craft an Awakening Crystal of the matching element at the Ancient Workbench, then use it on a Pal of that element. Every current affinity-crystal recipe costs:
- 50 matching Radiant Gems (farmed from World Tree Pals of that element)
- 10 World Tree Holy Water
- A work amount of 30,000 at the Ancient Workbench
So Holy Water isn't just a gathering key — it's a hard requirement, 10 per Pal you Awaken. A full Awakened endgame roster of five party Pals is 50 Holy Water minimum, which is exactly why the fishing/expedition trickle and a good spring circuit are worth setting up early in your World Tree grind.
If you'd rather have an Awakened, capped, boss-ready team without spending your evenings on spring circuits and shard recycling, that's what our Palworld leveling and boost service is for — we handle the endgame grind so you can jump straight to the fun fights. Our breeding and mutation guide also pairs well here if you want to build the World Tree passive onto your main mount yourself.
Holy Water vs Radiant Gems: don't confuse them
Both come from the World Tree and both go into Awakening, but they are not interchangeable:
- World Tree Holy Water — the quantity ingredient (10 per crystal) and the gathering buff. Element-neutral. Farmed from springs, fishing, expeditions, and Pal shards.
- Radiant Gems — the bulk ingredient (50 per crystal) and element-specific. A Fire Awakening Crystal needs Fire Radiant Gems, and so on. Patch 1.0.4 fixed a bug where wild World Tree Pals dropped mismatched-element gems, so farming the right element is reliable again.
You need both, every time — running out of Holy Water is the more common bottleneck because springs are on a timer and it's easy to forget the passive/fishing sources exist.
FAQ
What does Holy Water do in Palworld? World Tree Holy Water is a consumable that, while active, stops World Tree resource nodes (Paloxite, Mythical Wood) from vanishing when you approach them, letting you actually harvest the World Tree. It's also a required ingredient — 10 per crystal — for Awakening Crystals, the endgame stat upgrade.
Why do World Tree resources still disappear after I drink Holy Water? Because your active Pal isn't buffed. The buff only protects nodes near a buffed character, so your summoned Pal walking up to a node still makes it vanish. Fix it by holstering the Pal while you harvest, feeding the Pal Holy Water too, or giving the Pal one of the seven World Tree passive skills, which grant the effect permanently.
Where is the best place to farm Holy Water? Teafant Springs are the best no-combat source — each gives 30 Holy Water about every 10 minutes, so build a circuit between two or three of them (near Gilded City Ruins Watchtower, Dusty Ravine, and Lacrymal Shoal). For bulk, kill World Tree Pals and process their shards at the Ancient Recycler, or use World Tree fishing and expeditions added in patch 1.0.3.
How much Holy Water do I need to Awaken a Pal? Exactly 10 World Tree Holy Water plus 50 matching-element Radiant Gems per Awakening Crystal, crafted at the Ancient Workbench. A five-Pal Awakened team therefore needs at least 50 Holy Water.
Can I get the Holy Water effect permanently? Yes. Any Pal with one of the seven World Tree passive skills has the "resources won't vanish" trait built in permanently. Put that passive on your main mount and both it and you (while riding) can harvest the World Tree with no drinking required.
Did Holy Water change in a recent patch? Yes — patch 1.0.3 cut its weight from 1 to 0.1, extended its buff duration, and added fishing, the Large Fishing Pond, and World Tree expeditions as new sources. The current live build is 1.0.5.
