Escape from Tarkov's next major patch, update 1.2.0.0, is a PvE-focused update built around three headline systems: a standalone PvE prestige reset, a bot spawn and AI overhaul, and an improved raid reconnection system for everyone. Battlestate Games has confirmed the what, not the granular patch notes — the 2026 roadmap is explicitly labelled "preliminary," so exact numbers can still shift before it goes live.

Quick answer: Tarkov 1.2.0.0 at a glance

  • Release window: late September or early October 2026 (BSG's preliminary roadmap, confirmed via Forbes' Aug 27 report).
  • Focus: PvE. This is the PvE crowd's turn after Season 1 and the 1.1.5.0 Lighthouse rework landed for everyone.
  • Headline features: PvE prestige, a bot spawn/AI overhaul, and better raid reconnection (the reconnect fix applies to all players, not just PvE).
  • Current live build: the game is on 1.1.5.0.47426 as of mid-September 2026 — so 1.2.0.0 has not shipped yet. Anyone quoting live 1.2.0.0 patch notes today is guessing.
  • Do this now: if you play PvE, finish the quests, hideout stations and levels you care about before prestige lands — a prestige reset rolls your progress back to a fresh start.

Roadmap caveat: BSG's own wording is "preliminary." Dates and feature scope on this patch are not locked. We update this guide the moment the official 1.2.0.0 patch notes drop on escapefromtarkov.com.

When does Tarkov 1.2.0.0 release?

Update 1.2.0.0 is due late September or early October 2026. That window comes straight from Battlestate's 2026 roadmap, which Forbes' Mike Stubbs summarised on August 27, 2026: after the 1.1.5.0 Lighthouse rework (which went live on September 8, 2026), "next up is update 1.2.0.0, which is due around the end of September or early October."

As of this writing the live client is 1.1.5.0.47426 — the Season 1 (1.1.x) family, not 1.2.x. So 1.2.0.0 is still upcoming. BSG typically confirms the exact drop date only a few days out via the launcher and an official news post, and takes servers down for a multi-hour maintenance window (1.1.5.0's predecessor patches ran 4–7 hours), so expect a same-week heads-up rather than a fixed calendar date.

Here's where 1.2.0.0 sits in the wider 2026 roadmap:

1.1.5.0September 8, 2026 (live)Lighthouse rework + Lightkeeper task chain rework
1.2.0.0Late Sept / early Oct 2026PvE prestige, bot AI overhaul, raid reconnection

What's new in Tarkov 1.2.0.0?

PvE prestige — a separate reset for the PvE crowd

The centrepiece is prestige for PvE. Forbes quotes the roadmap directly: 1.2.0.0 "will introduce the prestige mode for PvE players, and improve the raid reconnection system for everyone." PvE never gets a seasonal wipe — the PvE Zone profile has been running continuously — so prestige is BSG's answer to "what do I do when I've finished everything?"

Prestige in Tarkov works like a voluntary reset: you roll your character back to the start in exchange for prestige-exclusive rewards and a permanent prestige marker, keeping a small set of carry-over items rather than your whole stash. The PvE version gives PvE-only players their own progression loop that doesn't touch the PvP economy.

We cover the full mechanic — what you keep, what resets, and whether it's worth pulling the trigger — in our dedicated Tarkov PvE prestige guide. The short version for planning purposes: prestige is a reset, so anything you want on your current character — Kappa, maxed hideout, high skills — should be done before you prestige, not after.

Bot spawn and AI overhaul

The second pillar is AI. Per the roadmap breakdown, 1.2.0.0 targets bot spawns and AI behaviour — the Scav and boss logic that PvE players fight every raid. PvE lives or dies on how the AI plays, so a spawn/behaviour pass is the single biggest quality-of-life lever BSG can pull for that mode. Exact behaviour changes aren't detailed yet; treat any specific "the AI now does X" claim floating around as unconfirmed until the patch notes land.

Raid reconnection — for everyone

The reconnection improvement is the one PvP players should care about too. BSG's wording is that it improves raid reconnection "for everyone" — meaning if you crash or drop mid-raid, the goal is to let you rejoin the same raid instead of eating a lost run and lost gear. That's a direct hit to one of the most-complained-about ways to lose a kit through no fault of your own.

Should you prestige in PvE? Plan before the patch

If you play PvE and you're anywhere near "done," 1.2.0.0 forces a decision: prestige for the rewards, or keep your loaded character. Either way, the smart move is to lock in your progress before the patch, because a reset is a reset.

Priorities to finish first if you plan to prestige:

  • Quests you still want credit for — especially anything gating Kappa or a hideout station. Start with the most profitable early Season 1 quests if you're rebuilding fast.
  • Hideout stations that pay you back — the Bitcoin farm and top profit crafts are the ones you'll miss on a fresh profile.
  • Character level and elite skills — if you're grinding back up post-prestige, our Season 1 leveling guide covers the fastest routes after the XP rebalance.
  • Roubles for the rebuild — a prestige reset means re-kitting from scratch. A stack of PvE-zone roubles turns a painful regrind into a couple of comfortable evenings.

Skip the regrind on your PvE character? Our pros can lock in the milestones that matter before 1.2.0.0 drops:

(PvE mode is a paid unlock — it ships with the Unheard edition or as a separate PvE expansion on the official site, and it uses the same rouble/quest/hideout economy as PvP, so every one of these applies to a PvE profile.)

How 1.2.0.0 fits after 1.1.5.0

1.2.0.0 is the follow-up to the 1.1.5.0 Lighthouse rework, which shipped on September 8, 2026 and reworked the Lighthouse map (Rogues relocated to the chalet area, mines cleared except zone mines, a BTR patrol on the main road) plus the Lightkeeper task chain. If you skipped it, our 1.1.5.0 Lighthouse rework and Lightkeeper guide covers what changed. Where 1.1.5.0 was a shared content patch for the whole player base, 1.2.0.0 swings back to the PvE side — and after it, October's Unity 6 engine upgrade and Halloween event affect everyone again.

FAQ

When is the Tarkov 1.2.0.0 release date? Late September or early October 2026, per Battlestate's preliminary 2026 roadmap (reported by Forbes on August 27, 2026). No exact day is locked yet — BSG usually confirms the date a few days out through the launcher and an official news post. The game is still on build 1.1.5.0.47426 as of mid-September 2026, so 1.2.0.0 has not shipped.

Is Tarkov 1.2.0.0 a wipe or a new season? No. It's a PvE-focused content and systems update inside the current 1.x line — not a full wipe and not Season 2. The next season (Season 2) arrives with patch 1.4.0.0 in December 2026. Season 1 "Kord Breach" started August 3, 2026 and only the seasonal character resets, not your permanent PvP and PvE Zone profiles.

What are the main features in 1.2.0.0? Three: a standalone PvE prestige system, a bot spawn and AI overhaul, and an improved raid reconnection system that applies to all players. BSG has confirmed these at a high level; granular patch notes aren't public yet.

Does the 1.2.0.0 prestige reset my PvP character too? No. The prestige system in 1.2.0.0 is specifically for PvE players. Prestige itself is a voluntary reset — you choose to do it — and the PvE and PvP profiles have separate economies and progression, so prestiging one does not touch the other.

Should I finish my quests and hideout before 1.2.0.0? If you intend to prestige in PvE, yes. Prestige rolls your character back to a fresh start, so complete any Kappa-gating quests, key hideout stations (Bitcoin farm, top profit crafts), and level/skill milestones before you reset — you won't carry most of it over.

Will raid reconnection work in PvP? Yes. BSG's roadmap wording is that the reconnection improvement is "for everyone," so the goal is to let both PvP and PvE players rejoin a raid after a crash or disconnect instead of losing the run and their gear.
