PoE 2 Smith of KitavaA
Warrior ascendancy · verified 2026-07-04 · STR
community tier · patch 0.5.4b (editorial)
A forge-master warrior who fuses heavy-armour resilience, easy elemental-resistance capping, and fire-on-hit spell triggers with animated weapon minions.
You build an almost unkillable frame: run a plain (Normal) body armour to unlock a suite of powerful masterwork nodes, then trivialize resistance capping so gear can roll pure damage and life. Offence comes from bolting fire spells onto your melee hits and summoning weapon-copy minions, giving a hands-off damage layer on top of a very tanky, sustain-heavy chassis.
Strengths
- Arguably the best raw survivability in the game — stacks life, armour, and resistances trivially
- Elemental-resistance nodes make hitting the resistance cap far easier, freeing gear for damage
- Automatic fire-spell-on-hit and weapon minions add off-hand damage with little input
- Faces almost no gear competition for its Normal-body-armour build, so its items are cheap
Weaknesses
- Lower offensive ceiling than both Titan and Warbringer — kills slower
- Smith's Masterwork locks you into a Normal (white) body armour, giving up rare-armour affixes
- Damage scales slowly; it's a comfort/tank pick more than a speed-clear pick
Current standing (A-tier): Self-forged weapons keep it gear-independent — a strong league-start Warrior. (community tier · patch 0.5.4b — editorial rank, community meta consensus (maxroll · mobalytics · game8 0.5 tier lists), editorial — checked 2026-07-03)
Key Smith of Kitava notables
What each ascendancy notable actually does for the build — effect directions, not raw numbers (exact values shift every patch; check in game before committing points).
Smith's Masterwork
Restricts you to a Normal body armour but unlocks the ascendancy's masterwork nodes and grants large armour scaling from allocated notables — the build-defining keystone.
Coal Stoker
Converts a share of your fire resistance into extra cold and lightning resistance, effectively doubling resistance value and freeing gear for offence.
Forged in Flame
Extends your maximum-fire-resistance gains to also raise maximum cold and lightning resistance, making the resistance cap far easier to reach.
Heat of the Forge
Acts like a fire-flavoured Mjolner: melee hits build energy to auto-cast a socketed fire spell, a hands-off damage layer.
Living Weapon
Grants Manifest Weapon, summoning an immortal minion copy of your main weapon that attacks alongside you.
Against the Anvil
Grants the Temper Weapon skill, empowering your main-hand melee attacks with an added Combust-style fire effect.
