DBD Resident Evil Chapters: Every Killer, Survivor, Perk and Skin (2026)

Resident Evil is the only licence in Dead by Daylight that got a second chapter. Capcom's characters arrived in 2021, and Behaviour came back fourteen months later for a full sequel chapter. Between them: two Killers, four Survivors, eighteen perks, three maps and five legendary outfits, spread across two store pages that do not link to each other — which is why almost every guide covers one and ignores the other.

This covers both, with perk values read off the live build — Patch 10.1.2a, 17 September 2026 — not off the 10.2.0 PTB currently sitting on test servers with different numbers.

Quick answer. Dead by Daylight has two Resident Evil chapters. Resident Evil (Chapter 20, 15 June 2021) added The Nemesis, Leon Scott Kennedy and Jill Valentine plus the Raccoon City realm. Resident Evil: PROJECT W (Chapter 25, 30 August 2022) added The Mastermind (Albert Wesker), Ada Wong and Rebecca Chambers. Both still sell for $11.99 or 1,500 Auric Cells and neither has been retracted. Every character in them is licensed, so none can be bought with Iridescent Shards — but all 18 perks rotate through the Shrine of Secrets for shards. Both RE Killers are playable in the 2v8 mode running until 29 September 2026.

What Resident Evil content is in Dead by Daylight?

Two full chapters, fourteen months apart, each with the standard one-Killer-two-Survivors structure and identical pricing.

The Nemesis: power, stats and perks

The Nemesis holding a rocket launcher in red and blue lighting on the Dead by Daylight character preview art

Nemesis T-Type is the 24th Killer added and one of 44 on the current roster: a 115% Killer at 4.6 m/s with a 32 metre Terror Radius and a Tall hitbox, whose weapon is listed as Raw Fists — the tentacle is the power, not the weapon.

T-Virus runs on Contamination Points. Landing the tentacle on an uninfected Survivor infects them, deals no health damage, applies 20% Hindered for 2 seconds and awards 3 points; hitting an already-infected Survivor deals damage and awards 1 point. Charging slows him to 95% (3.8 m/s) at Mutation Rates 1 and 2, and 100% (4.0 m/s) at Mutation Rate 3, with a 2.25 second cooldown between strikes.

The mutation ladder is the part most guides get wrong:

  • Mutation Rate 1 — tentacle reach 5 metres.
  • Mutation Rate 2 — unlocked at 5 Contamination Points; the tentacle now breaks breakable walls and pallets.
  • Mutation Rate 3 — unlocked at 15 Contamination Points; reach extends to 6.5 metres.

Two Zombies patrol the map for him, auras permanently visible to the Killer. They respawn 12 seconds after being destroyed, and destroying one with the tentacle awards an extra Contamination Point — but stun a Zombie with a pallet or Head On and the respawn timer jumps to 45 seconds. A flashlight, firecracker or flash grenade blinds one for 15 seconds.

Survivors get a counter. Four Supply Cases spawn per trial, each holding a single-use Vaccine that cures infection — but using one triggers Killer Instinct on that Survivor for 3 seconds, so the cure announces itself.

The Nemesis perks (live values, Patch 10.1.2a)

PerkEffect
EruptionKick a generator to apply it. When a Survivor is downed, affected generators instantly lose 10% progress and anyone repairing one screams and is revealed for 8/10/12 seconds. 30 second cooldown.
HysteriaDowning a Survivor with a basic attack makes all injured Survivors Oblivious for 30/35/40 seconds. 20 second cooldown.
Lethal PursuerReveals all Survivor auras for 7/8/9 seconds at the start of the trial, and extends every other aura-reading effect you have by 2 seconds.

Lethal Pursuer is the perk from either chapter you will see most often, and the reason is that 2-second extension: it stacks with every aura perk in the game, which is why it sits in so many of the best killer perk builds at this patch.

The Mastermind: power, stats and perks

Albert Wesker in sunglasses and his black tactical coat on the Dead by Daylight Mastermind character preview art

Albert Wesker joined as the 29th Killer, pulled from Resident Evil 5 (2009). Also a 115% Killer at 4.6 m/s with an Average hitbox, but his Terror Radius is 40 metres — one of the widest in the game, and a real drawback indoors.

Virulent Bound holds 2 tokens. Charging slows him to 3.68 m/s, then launches him forward at 14 m/s; the first bound takes 0.5 seconds to charge and the second 1 second, with a 2 second Chain Bound Window to link them. Slamming a Survivor into an obstacle injures them and applies Uroboros infection, which builds on its own — and a critically infected Survivor takes double damage from the next bound, which is what turns a healthy Survivor into a down without a chase.

One detail decides endgames: releasing a Survivor from a bound blocks the Exit Gates for 5 seconds.

The Mastermind perks (live values, Patch 10.1.2a)

PerkEffect
Awakened AwarenessWhile carrying a Survivor, reveals the auras of all others within 16/18/20 metres.
Superior AnatomyWhen a Survivor rush-vaults a window within 12 metres of you, your next vault is 30/35/40% faster. Deactivates after you vault. 25 second cooldown.
TerminusOnce the Exit Gates are powered, all injured, downed and hooked Survivors are Broken. Lingers 35/40/45 seconds after a gate is opened.

Be careful with Superior Anatomy right now. The 10.2.0 PTB — on test servers since 15 September 2026, not in the live game — rewrites it to read: "Whenever a Survivor medium or fast-vaults within 12m of you, the next time you basic-vault a Window, you basic-vault Windows 30/35/40% faster for 10s. Cooldown: 20s. (was basic-vault once faster and 25s cooldown)." BHVR's dev note says they "want to provide more flexibility to Superior Anatomy's usage." Until 10.2.0 ships, the live perk is the 25-second version above. Full breakdown in our 10.2.0 perk changes write-up.

All four Resident Evil survivors and their perks

Ada Wong in her red dress framed by black Uroboros tendrils in the Dead by Daylight PROJECT W survivor art

Four Survivors, twelve perks covering generator defence, healing efficiency, stealth and anti-hook — which is why Resident Evil perks show up on builds with nothing to do with the licence. Each Survivor is 500 Auric Cells standalone.

SurvivorChapterPerks
Leon Scott KennedyResident EvilBite the Bullet, Flashbang, Rookie Spirit
Jill ValentineResident EvilBlast Mine, Counterforce, Resurgence
Ada WongPROJECT WLow Profile, Reactive Healing, Wiretap
Rebecca ChambersPROJECT WBetter than New, Hyperfocus, Reassurance

Leon. Bite the Bullet silences every grunt of pain while healing and cuts the failed-skill-check penalty to 3/2/1%. Flashbang activates once you have repaired generators for a total of 50/45/40% — cumulative across the trial, not one machine — and then lets you craft a Flash Grenade inside a locker. Rookie Spirit turns 5/4/3 Good or Great skill checks into permanent aura reading on every regressing generator.

Jill. Blast Mine arms once you have repaired generators for the equivalent of 40% of progression; the trap stays live 100/110/120 seconds, shows in yellow to your team, and when the Killer damages that generator it stuns them for 4 seconds and blinds everyone within 12.5 metres. Counterforce sets your cleansing speed to 125% and adds a stacking +25% each time you cleanse a totem, revealing the farthest remaining totem for 10/12/14 seconds. Resurgence hands you 50/60/70% healing progress the moment you are unhooked.

Ada. Low Profile activates when you are the last Survivor not downed or incapacitated, suppressing grunts, blood and scratch marks for 70/80/90 seconds. Reactive Healing instantly restores 40/45/50% of your missing heal progress when another Survivor within 32 metres is injured. Wiretap arms at 40% repair, runs 100/110/120 seconds, and reveals the Killer to the whole team within 14 metres of the tapped generator.

Rebecca. Better than New speeds up a Survivor you healed by 12/14/16% on Blessing, Cleansing, Healing and Unlocking. (The 10.2.0 PTB tests this at 40/45/50% — the notes literally print "was 12/14/16%" — but that is not live.) Hyperfocus stacks to 6 tokens on Great skill checks while repairing or healing; each token adds +4% to both skill check trigger odds and pointer-rotation speed (max +24%) and 10/20/30% to the skill check bonus progression (max 60/120/180%). A single Good check, a failed one or any interruption wipes every token. Reassurance pauses the hook sacrifice timer 20/25/30 seconds from within 6 metres, once per Survivor per hook instance.

Hyperfocus is the backbone of every speed-repair build and Reassurance is the reason a camped hook is survivable at all; both appear in our best survivor and killer builds guide.

Raccoon City: the maps the chapters added

The Dead by Daylight R.P.D. map rework graphic splitting the Raccoon City Police Station into a West wing and an East wing

The 2021 chapter added the Raccoon City realm with a single, enormous Raccoon City Police Station map. Patch 6.2.0 — the PROJECT W patch — split it: the original was reworked into the East Wing and a new West Wing built alongside it, giving the realm three maps.

The East Wing keeps the main hall with the unicorn statue; the West Wing runs through the library and office block. Both are indoor maps with tight sightlines, which is exactly why The Mastermind struggles there: a 40 metre Terror Radius means Survivors hear him through three rooms. Full realm list in our Dead by Daylight maps guide.

Every Resident Evil legendary skin, and what they cost

Legendary Outfits replace the character model entirely — which is how Capcom got five more characters in without five more chapters. Each is 1,485 Auric Cells.

Carlos OliveiraLeon Scott Kennedy30 August 2022
William BirkinThe Blight24 January 2023

Birkin is the odd one out: he came with the Resident Evil X Lunar New Year event rather than a chapter, and he is worn by The Blight, an original Killer with no Capcom connection. Wesker also has outfit sets of his own, among them Albert Wesker (S.T.A.R.S.) from launch day, Blighted Wesker from 11 October 2022 and New Dawn from 10 February 2025.

One frequent mix-up: HUNK is in the game, but he is not Resident Evil content. He is a Legendary Outfit for The Legion, from the Darkness Among Us collection, not the Resident Evil one. If you are buying him for the character rather than the Killer, the advice on r/deadbydaylight is blunt and correct: "Play Legion a bit, and get a feel. Dont get a skin (especially for a killer) if you dont even know if you like the character."

Can you unlock Resident Evil characters with Iridescent Shards?

No. Only Original characters — the ones Behaviour created — can be bought with Iridescent Shards, at 9,000 shards, 4,500 at half price, or 2,250 at the deepest discount tier. Every Capcom character sits outside that system: Nemesis, Wesker, Leon, Jill, Ada and Rebecca are Auric Cells or real money only.

The perks are a different story. All 18 rotate through the Shrine of Secrets, which resets every Tuesday at 15:00 UTC with four perks — two Survivor, two Killer — priced at 2,000, 4,000 and 6,000 Iridescent Shards for tiers I, II and III. That is the free-to-play route to Lethal Pursuer, Hyperfocus or Reassurance without buying either chapter; this week's rotation is tracked in our Shrine of Secrets post.

Are Nemesis and Wesker playable in 2v8 right now?

Yes. The current 2v8 run, version 9, started 8 September 2026 and ends 29 September 2026, and its 16-Killer pool includes both The Nemesis and The Mastermind. That window closes in just over a week. Full class and Killer breakdown in our 2v8 guide.

FAQ

Are the Resident Evil chapters still available to buy? Yes. As of Patch 10.1.2a, both Resident Evil (2021) and PROJECT W (2022) are on sale at $11.99 or 1,500 Auric Cells each, on every platform. Neither licence has been retracted.

Which chapter should I buy first? PROJECT W, if you play both roles. Wesker is the stronger, more mobile Killer, and Rebecca's Hyperfocus and Reassurance are two of the strongest Survivor perks in the game. Buy the 2021 chapter first if you want Lethal Pursuer, which goes on almost every Killer build.

Can I get Nemesis or Wesker with Iridescent Shards? No. Licensed characters can never be bought with shards — Auric Cells or a store purchase only. Their perks do appear in the Shrine of Secrets for shards.

Is HUNK a Resident Evil character in DBD? He is a Resident Evil character, but in DBD he is a Legendary Outfit for The Legion from the Darkness Among Us collection, not part of either chapter. Buying him gives you no Resident Evil perks.

How many maps did the Resident Evil chapters add? Three, all in the Raccoon City realm. The 2021 chapter added the original Raccoon City Police Station; Patch 6.2.0 reworked it into the East Wing and added the West Wing.

What counters The Nemesis? Vaccines. Four Supply Cases spawn per trial, each with one single-use Vaccine that clears infection — though using one reveals you through Killer Instinct for 3 seconds. Denying Contamination Points also keeps him off Mutation Rate 3 and its 6.5 metre tentacle.

Does Superior Anatomy work differently now? Not on the live build. The 10.2.0 PTB changes it to a 10-second window with a 20-second cooldown; Patch 10.1.2a still runs one faster vault on a 25 second cooldown.

Sources and patch

Everything above was checked on 21 September 2026 against the live build, Patch 10.1.2a (17 September 2026). Anything from the 10.2.0 PTB (15 September 2026) is labelled as PTB and has not shipped.
