Version 7.1 "A Rekviem for the Underworld" went live on 23 September 2026 and brought six new weapons with it — but they are not all obtained the same way, and the difference matters more than any damage ranking. Five come out of the weapon banner. One is free.
This page applies to Version 7.1, which HoYoverse's own Version 7.1 materials date from 23 September to 3 November 2026. Every stat and passive value below is transcribed from HoYoverse's own weapon cards, and every date comes from the in-game announcement feed.
Quick answer: Version 7.1 added six new weapons. The two 5-stars are Beyond the Chrysalis (Sword, 674 Base ATK / 44.10% CRIT DMG) and Hymn of the Maelstrom (Catalyst, 542 Base ATK / 66.20% Max HP). The three new 4-stars on the banner are New Bough (Sword), Winter's Heavy Heart (Catalyst) and Breezeborne Refrain (Bow) — all 510 Base ATK. The sixth, Silver Light (Sword), is free from an event and is not on the weapon banner at all, despite what most round-ups say. The Epitome Invocation weapon banner closes 13 October 2026 at 17:59 server time. Five of the six key off Stellar Glimmer reactions, which is also what the new Spiral Abyss rewards from 16 October.
What are the new weapons in Genshin 7.1?
Six, in three distinct buckets. HoYoverse's own announcement puts it plainly:
"After the Version 7.1 update on September 23, the new 5-star weapons 'Beyond the Chrysalis (Sword)' and 'Hymn of the Maelstrom (Catalyst),' as well as the event-exclusive 4-star weapons 'New Bough (Sword),' 'Winter's Heavy Heart (Catalyst),' and 'Breezeborne Refrain (Bow)' will receive a huge drop rate boost in Event Wishes! You can also take part in the event 'Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon' to obtain the event-exclusive weapon 'Silver Light (Sword)' and its Refinement Materials"
— HoYoverse, Version 7.1 "A Rekviem for the Underworld" New Weapon Overview
Bucket one, the 5-star banner weapons: Beyond the Chrysalis and Hymn of the Maelstrom.
Bucket two, the 4-star event-exclusives boosted on the same banner: New Bough, Winter's Heavy Heart, Breezeborne Refrain.
Bucket three, free: Silver Light, redeemed from the Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon event.
Two older 4-stars are also rate-boosted on the banner — Favonius Greatsword (Claymore) and Dragon's Bane (Polearm). They are not new; they are filler you can pull into by accident, and neither scales with anything 7.1 added.
One clause in the notice is worth reading twice: the event-exclusive weapons will never appear in the standard wish Wanderlust Invocation. The two Favonius-era 4-stars will. So a missed New Bough is only obtainable from a future rerun of this banner, while a missed Favonius Greatsword shows up in the standard pool forever.
What does Beyond the Chrysalis actually do?
Beyond the Chrysalis is a 5-star Sword. At Level 90, Refinement 1, it carries 674 Base ATK — the top Base ATK tier for a 5-star sword — and a substat of 44.10% CRIT DMG.
Its passive, Dance of Wings Unbound, is a rotating cycle rather than a single buff. Each time the equipping character uses an Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst, they gain the next effect in a fixed three-step sequence:
- Winds of Devotion — CRIT DMG increased by 56% for 10 seconds
- Winds of Defiance — Stellar Swirl Reaction DMG increased by 36% for 10 seconds
- Winds of Plenty — restores up to 5 Elemental Energy every 4 seconds
The catch is in the fine print: the effects are removed and the sequence resets when the equipping character leaves the field. This is an on-field carry weapon by construction. Swap out and you start again at step one, which means a character who taps a Skill and leaves gets one buff and throws it away.
Read the sequence and the intended user is obvious. Step two boosts Stellar Swirl specifically — the Anemo-plus-Cryo reaction that Version 7.0 introduced — and the version's new 5-star Anemo sword carry is built around it. That is an inference from the passive text, not a pairing HoYoverse announced; see the signature-weapon section below for why the distinction matters. For what is actually confirmed about the character side, see our Vesna build guide for Version 7.1.
What does Hymn of the Maelstrom actually do?
Hymn of the Maelstrom is a 5-star Catalyst with 542 Base ATK and a substat of 66.20% Max HP — an unusual pairing that tells you the role before you read a word of the passive.
Rondo of Slumber grants a flat 4% Healing Bonus. When the equipping character heals, they gain a stacking buff called Vatsamonga's Vatic Vintage: +4% Max HP to themselves, and +0.4% ATK to the current active character for every 1,000 Max HP above 40,000, capped at 8% ATK. The buff lasts 10 seconds and stacks up to 3 times.
Then the 7.1-specific clause: after a nearby party member triggers a Frozen or Stellar Swirl reaction, both of those increases are enhanced by a further 75% for 5 seconds.
Three details decide whether this weapon is good for you:
- It works off-field. The passive explicitly still triggers when the equipping character is not the active one — so this is a swap-in healer's weapon, the opposite of Beyond the Chrysalis.
- The 40,000 Max HP floor is a real gate. Below it, the ATK half of the passive gives nothing at all. Above it you are paid 0.4% ATK per 1,000 HP, so a 50,000 HP healer is at the 4% mark and needs roughly 60,000 to cap.
- Frozen counts. You do not need the new reaction family to switch the 75% enhancement on — plain Freeze teams, which have existed since launch, qualify.
The Max HP scaling, the healing trigger and the Frozen-or-Stellar-Swirl clause all point at the version's new 5-star Hydro Catalyst healer — again, read off the passive rather than announced. Our Vodyanitsa build guide covers what her kit actually confirms.
Are the three new 4-star weapons worth pulling for?
All three share 510 Base ATK, the top Base ATK tier for a 4-star. They differ in substat and in which part of the Stellar Glimmer family they feed.
New Bough (Sword) — substat 55.10% CRIT DMG. After the equipping character uses an Elemental Skill, hitting an opponent increases their ATK and Elemental Mastery. While the equipping character is in a Radiance: Stellar Glimmer state, that same effect instead increases ATK and Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG. Works off-field.
Winter's Heavy Heart (Catalyst) — substat 55.10% CRIT DMG. Grants +24 Elemental Mastery per Cryo character and +4.8% ATK per Electro character in the party, counting up to 4 Cryo or Electro characters in total — a shared cap, which a four-slot party cannot exceed anyway. In Radiance: Stellar Glimmer it converts to Elemental Mastery and Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG instead. The Cryo-plus-Electro count is the tell: this is the Stellar-Conduct-leaning weapon of the three.
Breezeborne Refrain (Bow) — substat 27.60% CRIT Rate. Grants +20% Energy Recharge, and Skill or Burst hits build up to 3 stacks that raise Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG by 24% for the whole nearby party for 12 seconds. Works off-field. This is the only one of the three 4-stars that pushes its bonus onto the whole party rather than its holder.
One term above needs unpacking, because all three weapons key off it. Radiance: Stellar Glimmer is an umbrella label for two per-character states: Radiance: Stellar-Conduct, entered while the character stands in a Polestar Field, and Radiance: Stellar Swirl, entered for 8 seconds after a nearby party member triggers a Stellar Swirl reaction. It is a state the holder is in, not a party-wide toggle — and only a character whose own talent grants these states can enter them, so the Radiance half of these three passives is live on those characters rather than on any sword or catalyst user who happens to be standing in a Polestar Field. Converting your Superconduct and Cryo Swirl into the new reactions in the first place is a separate job, handled by a Stellar Jubilee Passive rather than by any of these weapons.
Whether any of that beats what is already in your inventory is a different question. A 55.10% CRIT DMG substat on a 4-star is generous, so New Bough competes as a stat stick first and a reaction weapon second — if your CRIT Rate is already healthy, that substat line does more work than the conditional bonus, and the comparison against a long-standing Elemental Mastery sword like Iron Sting turns on how much CRIT your artifacts already supply.
How do you get Silver Light, and why is it not on the weapon banner?
Silver Light is a 4-star Sword with 510 Base ATK and a substat of 41.30% ATK. Its passive is simple: after the equipping character uses an Elemental Skill, their Elemental Mastery increases by 52 for 12 seconds, and the effect can hold 2 independent stacks.
It is free, and it is not a wish weapon. HoYoverse's own line is that Silver Light and its Refinement Materials are obtained by taking part in Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon — which means a Refinement 5 copy costs no Fate at all, only event participation. Several large round-ups list it inside their "7.1 weapon banner" tables anyway. That is wrong, and it is an expensive mistake if it leads someone to pull for a sword they can simply collect.
The event runs in three staged phases:
- Phase I opened 24 September 2026 at 10:00 and the whole event closes 12 October 2026 at 03:59
- Phase II opened 26 September 2026 at 04:00
- Phase III opens 28 September 2026 at 04:00
Entry requires Adventure Rank 20 and completion of Archon Quest Prologue Act III, "Song of the Dragon and Freedom". Three gameplay modes are available — The Great Chase and Dispelling, Banner Against the Dark, and Spiritshot Salvo — and clearing them awards a currency called Festive Cheer. Accumulated Festive Cheer is what unlocks Silver Light itself, plus Primogems, a Crown of Insight and the event-exclusive Weapon Refinement Materials.
The practical note: the event ends early on 12 October, roughly a day and a half before the weapon banner does. Do not leave Festive Cheer unspent while deciding whether to pull.
Which of these is a signature weapon?
None of them, officially — and this is the most common error in 7.1 weapon coverage. HoYoverse has not published a signature-weapon pairing for any Version 7.1 weapon.
The inferences are strong. Beyond the Chrysalis boosts Stellar Swirl DMG and resets on swap, which suits an on-field Anemo sword carry. Hymn of the Maelstrom scales off Max HP and healing and improves near Frozen or Stellar Swirl, which suits a Hydro Catalyst healer. Both readings are sound; neither is a statement HoYoverse made. The word "signature" carries an implied promise — that the weapon is mathematically the best option for that character — and without published multipliers nobody can verify that yet.
Why does every 7.1 Stellar Swirl damage test need redoing?
Because Version 7.1 fixed the reaction these weapons are built around.
The Version 7.1 Update Details notice lists, among its resolved issues, that the DMG dealt by the Stellar Swirl reaction could occasionally fail to include Cryo characters involved in the reaction in its calculations. That is not a cosmetic fix. Stellar Swirl is an Anemo-plus-Cryo reaction, so a bug that intermittently dropped the Cryo contributor out of the damage calculation means every Stellar Swirl number measured before 23 September 2026 was measured against broken behaviour.
Two consequences follow:
- Any weapon comparison, spreadsheet or video benchmarking Stellar Swirl damage published before the 7.1 patch is unreliable for the three weapons that scale with it.
- The community damage model for this family — the contribution blend and the Elemental Mastery curve — is community-derived from frame testing, not published by HoYoverse. It was reverse-engineered on the pre-fix build. Treat any exact percentage you see quoted for these reactions as provisional.
It is also worth being precise about what "Stellar Glimmer" covers, because the weapons split on it. Stellar Glimmer is the family; it contains Stellar-Conduct (Cryo plus Electro) and Stellar Swirl (Anemo plus Cryo). Beyond the Chrysalis boosts Stellar Swirl only. New Bough, Winter's Heavy Heart and Breezeborne Refrain boost Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG, which is the broader term. On paper, the 4-stars are the less conditional weapons of the set. Our Stellar-Conduct vs Stellar Swirl breakdown explains which one your team is actually triggering, including the common misconception that you pick between them — you do not; a single Stellar Jubilee Passive converts both of the old reactions at once.
When do you have to decide?
Three dates, in the order they arrive.
12 October 2026, 03:59 server time — Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon ends. Silver Light and its Refinement Materials become unobtainable until a rerun.
13 October 2026, 17:59 server time — the Epitome Invocation weapon banner closes, along with both Version 7.1 Phase 1 character banners. This is the hard deadline on all five wish weapons. The Epitomized Path is available on this banner, so you can chart a course toward either Beyond the Chrysalis or Hymn of the Maelstrom rather than leaving the 5-star to chance. Our Version 7.1 banner guide covers the phase structure and what is and is not confirmed after this date.
16 October 2026 — the new Spiral Abyss cycle begins, and this is the argument for pulling rather than skipping. Floor 12's first-half Ley Line Disorder is "Characters' Stellar Glimmer DMG increased by 75%" (the second half swaps to a 75% Cryo DMG Bonus), and Floor 11's grants +60% Anemo DMG Bonus and +60% Cryo DMG Bonus. The cycle's Blessing of the Abyssal Moon, Stardread Moon, is separate: it fires a True DMG shockwave once every 2 seconds when a character triggers Superconduct, Stellar-Conduct, Cryo Swirl, Stellar Swirl, Frozen or Shatter, or deals Stellar-Conduct or Stellar Swirl DMG to an opponent. In other words, the content that most rewards these six weapons opens three days after the banner that sells five of them closes. If Abyss clears matter to you, the decision window is shorter than the banner suggests. Our Floor 12 guide covers the chamber layouts.
Version 7.1 itself runs until 3 November 2026, so there is no rush on the free event sword beyond its own 12 October cut-off.
Article status and sources. Every Base ATK figure, substat and headline passive value on this page is transcribed from HoYoverse's Version 7.1 New Weapon Overview. Banner windows, event phases, the Spiral Abyss blessing and the Stellar Swirl bug fix come from the in-game announcement feed published on the official Genshin Impact site. Where this page draws a conclusion HoYoverse has not stated — the signature-weapon pairings, and which characters these weapons suit — it is labelled as inference. The community damage model for Stellar Glimmer reactions is reverse-engineered from player frame testing, not published, and was derived before the 7.1 fix. Checked against first-party sources on 27 September 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many new weapons are in Genshin 7.1? Six. Two 5-stars (Beyond the Chrysalis, Hymn of the Maelstrom), three 4-star event-exclusives on the weapon banner (New Bough, Winter's Heavy Heart, Breezeborne Refrain), and one free 4-star from an event (Silver Light).
Is Silver Light on the 7.1 weapon banner? No. It is obtained from the Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon event, along with its Refinement Materials. Round-ups that list it as a banner weapon are incorrect.
When does the Genshin 7.1 weapon banner end? Epitome Invocation closes 13 October 2026 at 17:59 server time, the same moment both Phase 1 character banners close.
Will the new 4-star weapons enter the standard wish pool? No. The official notice states that the event-exclusive weapons will not be available in the standard wish Wanderlust Invocation. Only the two returning 4-stars on the banner, Favonius Greatsword and Dragon's Bane, exist in the standard pool.
Which 7.1 weapon is the signature weapon for the new characters? HoYoverse has not published a signature pairing for any of them. The stat lines and passives point strongly toward the version's new sword carry and its new Catalyst healer, but that is inference, not an announcement.
Can you guarantee a specific 5-star weapon? Yes — the Epitomized Path is available on Epitome Invocation, which lets you chart a course toward either Beyond the Chrysalis or Hymn of the Maelstrom.
Is New Bough better than Iron Sting? It depends on your build. New Bough's 55.10% CRIT DMG substat is the stronger stat line, and its conditional bonus adds ATK plus Elemental Mastery, or ATK plus Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG inside the Radiance state. Iron Sting remains a pure Elemental Mastery sword. If your CRIT Rate is already solid, New Bough is the better stat stick; if you are short on Elemental Mastery and long on CRIT, the gap narrows.
Do the new weapons work off-field? Four of the six explicitly do: New Bough, Winter's Heavy Heart, Breezeborne Refrain and Hymn of the Maelstrom all state their effects trigger while the holder is not on the field. Beyond the Chrysalis is the opposite — its buff sequence resets the moment the holder leaves.
