Ignore Nik's Scythe when you compare: it is a gift-only knife that never really trades. The useful neighbours are Harvester at 250, Icepiercer at 165 and Batwing at 45. Icebreaker sits right between the two clusters, which is why it gets used so often as a stepping stone in upgrade trades.
Where did Icebreaker come from?
Icebreaker was the top reward of the Christmas Event 2020. The pre-update went live on December 13, 2020, the full event launched on December 23, 2020, and it all ended on January 13, 2021, per the Christmas Event 2020 wiki page.
The main event had 20 tiers. Tiers 2 to 20 cost 800 Snow Tokens each, and once you cleared them, The Snowman offered the axe for another 70,000 Snow Tokens. His in-game line, shown in the screenshot above, reads: "Okay! You can have it.... for..... hmm... 70,000 snow tokens!!!" Snow Tokens converted 1:1 into Coins, and Diamonds converted at 10 Snow Tokens each.
A few facts from the Icebreaker wiki page that come up in trade chats:
- It is an Ancient knife, not a gun. People sometimes mix it up with Icepiercer (Ancient gun) and Iceblaster (Godly gun).
- It is one of the few Ancient knives that is not a scythe, alongside Log Chopper, Traveler's Axe, Swirly Axe and Icecrusher.
- It is trade-only. The event ended in January 2021 and the item has not been re-released.
What is the Ice Set worth in MM2?
The Ice Set is worth about 105 on MM2 Values (70 + 35) and about 98 on Supreme (65 + 33). It pairs Icebreaker with Iceblaster, a Godly revolver from the 2020 Christmas Box. That box cost 800 Snow Tokens or one Snow Key to open, and the wiki lists the Godly chance only as "<1%" because the exact rate was never published.
Iceblaster on its own ranks 56th of 128 Godlies on MM2 Values, with demand 1.5/10. On the same list it sits level with Darkbringer and Elderwood Revolver at 35.
Sets usually trade at the sum of their parts, not at a premium. If someone prices a full Ice Set well above 105, ask them to show which list they are using. A r/MurderMystery2 trade post on November 7, 2026 paired Icebreaker with a Chroma Bone Blade in one listing. Are the Red, Gold, Silver and Bronze Icebreakers tradable?
No. The coloured Icebreakers are Unique leaderboard trophies from the Christmas 2020 Token-Collecting leaderboard, and the wiki says that, like every Unique except Corrupt, they are untradable:
- Red Icebreaker: top 100 token collectors.
- Bronze Icebreaker: 3rd place.
- Silver Icebreaker: 2nd place.
- Gold Icebreaker: 1st place, a single copy.
The Gift-Giving leaderboard paid out the matching Red, Bronze, Silver and Gold Iceblaster trophies the same way.
The value lists still print numbers for them, but they do not agree. MM2 Values lists Red Icebreaker at 45,000, while the Red Icebreaker wiki infobox still shows 1,000,000. The wiki pages for Bronze and Silver show 50,000,000 and 75,000,000, and the Gold one shows 100,000,000. Treat all of these as showcase numbers. Will Icebreaker go up in value this Christmas?
Probably not by much. Here is the reasoning:
- Supply is fixed. Icebreaker has been trade-only since January 2021, and no re-release has been announced.
- Christmas events add new Ancients. Each recent MM2 Christmas event has brought its own top reward: Icepiercer in 2022, Gingerscope in 2023, Celestial in 2024. New Ancients pull trading attention away from older ones.
- Demand is already low. A 2/10 demand score and a two-to-one offered-to-asked ratio do not point to a price rise.
The MM2 Christmas 2026 event has not been announced yet. Past events started on December 21, 2022, December 20, 2023, December 20, 2024 and December 14, 2025. Until then, the value has been flat for six weeks, so there is no rush to sell and no sign that waiting will pay.
