Quick answer (TLDR): The rarest knife in MM2 is Nik's Scythe, an Ancient knife that only Nikilis gives out personally. The MM2 Wiki counts 7 confirmed owners, and MM2 Values lists it at 250,000,000 with a rarity score of 11 on a 10-point scale. If you count copies instead of prestige, the Gold leaderboard knives (Gold Gingerscythe, Gold Vampire's Edge and others) exist as exactly one copy each, but they are untradable. The rarest knife you can realistically trade for is Chroma Evergreen (MM2 Values 33,000, rarity 7), followed by Chroma Emberscythe and Chroma Alienbeam. The rarest non-Chroma Ancient you can trade for is Traveler's Axe (7,150, rarity 4.5). All numbers are community values pulled on November 7, 2026, not official prices.
"What's the rarest knife in MM2?" has three honest answers, depending on what you mean by rare. Rarest that exists. Rarest you could ever trade for. Rarest you can still get right now. This guide gives all three, then ranks every knife tier by rarity so you can see where your own inventory sits.
Everything below uses MM2 Values (mm2values.com) and Supreme Values (via the mm2values.app mirror), both pulled on November 7, 2026 at about 09:30 UTC, and the Murder Mystery 2 Wiki for how each knife was released. MM2 Values gives every item a rarity score from 0 to 10. That score is a community estimate of how hard the item is to find in trades. It is not a published drop count, and Nikilis has never released supply numbers.

What is the rarest knife in MM2?
Nik's Scythe. The MM2 Wiki describes it as "an ancient knife given to players who helped report bugs to Nikilis or close friends of him," and adds: "There is no way to obtain it besides being one of Nikilis' friends (given personally by Nikilis through a code entered in-game)."
Why it sits at the top of every list:
- 7 confirmed owners. The wiki's trivia section puts the confirmed count at seven. No event, box or gamepass has ever sold it.
- Off the scale on MM2 Values. It is the only item on the Ancient page with a rarity score of 11 (every other Ancient is 4.5 or lower) and a listed value of 250,000,000.
- Supreme Values won't price it. The wiki infobox shows Supreme's entry as "Priceless".
- It's a Batwing reskin. Nik's Scythe is the teal version of the Ancient knife Batwing, which was itself a Nikilis exclusive before it went on sale in 2018. Batwing is worth 45 today. Same model, about 5.5 million times the listed value.
So if a trade post ever offers you a Nik's Scythe, assume it's a scam or a fake screenshot. There is no realistic way for a regular player to buy, trade for or unbox one.
Which MM2 knives exist as only one copy?
The Gold leaderboard knives. When an event has a leaderboard, the player who finishes 1st gets a Gold version of an event weapon, 2nd gets Silver, 3rd gets Bronze, and and in recent events the top 100 get a Blue or Red version. These are Unique weapons, and the wiki is clear on where Unique sits: "Unique Weapons are currently the highest tier of weapons in Murder Mystery 2, being above Ancient Weapons."
Examples from the MM2 Values Unique list, with the MM2 Wiki's description of who earned them:
| Knife | How it was earned | Copies | MM2 Values (Nov 7) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gold Gingerscythe | 1st on the Christmas Event 2023 gifting leaderboard | 1 | 500,000,000 |
| Gold Vampire's Edge | 1st on the Halloween Event 2020 leaderboard | 1 | 500,000,000 |
| Gold Traveler's Axe | 1st on the Halloween Event 2023 leaderboard | 1 | 100,000,000 |
| Gold Icebreaker | 1st place leaderboard reward | 1 | 100,000,000 |
| Gold Swirly Axe | 1st place leaderboard reward | 1 | 100,000,000 |
Two things trip people up here:
- They can't be traded. The wiki says it plainly on every Gold page: "Like all other unique weapons (excluding Corrupt), this item is untradable." The huge MM2 Values numbers are nominal. You will never see one in a trade window.
- The wiki and MM2 Values disagree on the price. The Gold Gingerscythe wiki infobox still shows 100,000,000, while the live MM2 Values page lists 500,000,000. Neither is a real market price, because no sale can happen.
By pure copy count, a Gold knife (1 copy) is rarer than Nik's Scythe (7 copies). Most players still answer "Nik's Scythe" because it's tradable on paper and it isn't tied to a leaderboard. Both answers are defensible. Just know which one you mean.
What about Corrupt? Wasn't that the rarest knife?
It used to be close. Corrupt is the only tradable Unique in MM2. Nikilis gave it to players who lost their inventories in the 2014 Data Loss Glitch, and the MM2 Wiki notes "it was originally the 2nd rarest knife in the game (after Nik's Scythe), before the Duping Glitch of 2017."
The duping changed everything. The wiki says there were allegedly only around 63 owners between 2015 and 2017, and "now there are thousands of copies of it in the game." On November 7, 2026, MM2 Values lists Corrupt at 230 with a rarity score of 3. That's a Unique-tier knife valued below a Traveler's Axe by a factor of 30. For the full price history, see our MM2 Corrupt value guide.
What is the rarest knife you can actually trade for?
Strip out the gift-only and untradable knives and the ranking looks very different. These are the 12 rarest knives that genuinely change hands, sorted by rarity score on the MM2 Values Chroma and Ancient lists:
| # | Knife | Tier | How it was released | MM2 Values | Rarity | Demand |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Chroma Evergreen | Godly (Chroma) | 2023 Christmas Box | 33,000 | 7 | 6 |
| 2 | Chroma Emberscythe | Ancient (Chroma) | Halloween 2026 Cauldron | 12,500 | 6 | 7 |
| 3 | Chroma Alienbeam | Godly (Chroma) | 2025 Halloween Box | 22,500 | 5.5 | 6 |
| 4 | Chroma Snowstorm | Godly (Chroma) | Snowy Bundle, Christmas 2025 (rare roll) | 4,250 | 5 | 4 |
| 5 | Chroma Mortal | Godly (Chroma) | Mortal gamepass or bundle, Halloween 2026 | 1,800 | 5 | 5.5 |
| 6 | Traveler's Axe | Ancient | Halloween Event 2023, tier 30 | 7,150 | 4.5 | 5 |
| 7 | Chroma Sunset | Godly (Chroma) | Summer 2025 pass tier 25 (2% roll) | 5,500 | 4.5 | 4.5 |
| 8 | Chroma Snow Dagger | Godly (Chroma) | 2025 Christmas Box | 2,350 | 4 | 5 |
| 9 | Chroma Icecream | Godly (Chroma) | 2026 Summer Box | 1,850 | 4 | 5 |
| 10 | Chroma Sweet | Godly (Chroma) | Sweet gamepass or bundle, Valentine's 2026 | 1,750 | 4 | 4.5 |
| 11 | Chroma Embersickle | Godly (Chroma) | 2026 Halloween Box | 1,600 | 4 | 5 |
| 12 | Chroma Beachy | Godly (Chroma) | Beachy gamepass or bundle, Summer 2026 | 1,125 | 4 | 4 |
Just below the cut at rarity 3.5: Celestial (Ancient, Christmas Event 2024 tier 20, 1,950), Emberscythe (Ancient, 450), Chroma Heart Wand (2026 Valentine's Box, 3,400), and the Godlies Evergreen (2,700) and Turkey (1,850).
Supreme Values lines up closely on most of this list: about 33K for Chroma Evergreen, 22K for Chroma Alienbeam, 7.1K for Traveler's Axe and 1.9K for Celestial. The big split is Chroma Emberscythe, which Supreme puts at about 16K (15,500 to 17,000) against 12,500 on MM2 Values.
Chroma Evergreen earns the top spot for a reason. It could only be unboxed from the 2023 Christmas Box during that event, and the wiki notes it was duped along with Evergreen on February 1, 2024. Even after that, it is still the highest-rarity Chroma knife on MM2 Values. Nikilis has never published official box odds, so treat any exact Chroma drop rate you see quoted for that box with caution.

Which Ancient knife is the rarest?
Ancient is the tier most people mean when they ask about "rare MM2 knives", because almost every Ancient came from a limited event and goes trade-only once that event ends. Here are all 12 Ancient knives on the MM2 Values Ancient list, ranked by rarity score. Chroma variants sit on the Chroma list instead; the only Chroma Ancient knife is Chroma Emberscythe (rarity 6), covered above.
| Ancient knife | MM2 Values | Rarity | Demand | Stability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nik's Scythe | 250,000,000 | 11 | 11 | Overpaid for |
| Traveler's Axe | 7,150 | 4.5 | 5 | Underpaid for |
| Celestial | 1,950 | 3.5 | 4.5 | Stable |
| Emberscythe | 450 | 3.5 | 5 | Fluctuating |
| Vampire's Axe | 1,425 | 3 | 4.5 | Stable |
| Icebreaker | 70 | 2 | 2 | Stable |
| Batwing | 45 | 2 | 2 | Stable |
| Elderwood Scythe | 40 | 2 | 1.5 | Stable |
| Swirly Axe | 40 | 2 | 1.5 | Stable |
| Hallowscythe | 32 | 2 | 1.5 | Stable |
| Logchopper | 20 | 2 | 1.5 | Stable |
| Ice Wing | 15 | 1 | 2 | Stable |
Rarity and value don't always move together. Batwing and Icebreaker share the same rarity score of 2 but sit far below the newer event Ancients, because demand drives value as much as supply does. Traveler's Axe is the standout: the MM2 Wiki says it was "originally obtainable by purchasing the 30th tier in the Battle Pass" of the 2023 Halloween Event, and it pairs with the Godly gun Traveler's Gun in the Traveler Set, which keeps demand high.

What is the rarest Godly knife in MM2?
Among regular Godly knives, MM2 Values gives the top rarity score (3.5) to Evergreen (2,700) and Turkey (1,850). Next come Alienbeam (1,900), Darksword (1,450), Sakura (1,150), Sunset (650) and Spirit (575), among others at 3.
For context, a standard box Godly drops at about 0.2% (1 in 500, wiki-reported), so even "common" Godlies are uncommon to unbox. Box Godlies like Saw (8) or Death Shard (13) are rarer to pull than to trade for, because so many have been opened over the years. Our how to get a Godly in MM2 guide covers box odds, crafting and the Coin math.
What is the rarest Vintage knife?
All five Vintage knives (Ghost, Blood, Shadow, Prince, Splitter) carry the same rarity score of 3 on MM2 Values. They are the original Murder Mystery 1 shop items and can't be earned anymore. They're old, but low demand keeps them cheap: Ghost leads at 10, Splitter trails at 3. Rare in age, not in value.
Can you still get a rare knife in MM2 right now?
Yes, but only until the Halloween event closes. The official Roblox event page for MM2 shows Halloween 2026 running until November 16, 2026 at 18:00 UTC (1 PM EST). Until then, these rare knives are still obtainable:
- Emberscythe (Ancient). Combine an Embersickle and an Emberbow in the Cauldron. The wiki calls it one of "the first two ancients, the other being Emberbow, to have a Chroma variant." It's at 450 on MM2 Values today, rarity 3.5.
- Chroma Emberscythe (Chroma Ancient). The rare Cauldron result. It's already the #2 Chroma knife by rarity (score 6) at 12,500, and its demand score of 7 is second only to Nik's Scythe among the knives listed here.
- Chroma Embersickle. A 0.004% pull from the 2026 Halloween Box (600 Candies or 1 Halloween Key). MM2 Values: 1,600, rarity 4.
- Chroma Mortal. The MM2 Wiki says it is currently obtainable by buying the Mortal Gamepass (1,699 Robux) or the Mortal Bundle (3,399 Robux) during the event. MM2 Values: 1,800, rarity 5.
Once November 16 passes, all four go trade-only, the same path Traveler's Axe and Celestial took. Past Ancients from event passes have tended to hold or rise once supply locks, but the Ember items are still volatile: MM2 Values marks all four "Fluctuating" today. Track them in our Emberscythe value guide and Halloween 2026 event guide.
How do you tell if a knife is actually rare?
Four quick checks before you trust a "this is super rare" trade pitch:
- Check the tier. The order is Unique, then Ancient, then Godly, then Legendary. Chroma is a variant of a Godly or Ancient, not a separate tier above them.
- Check whether it can be traded. Every Unique except Corrupt is untradable. If someone claims to be trading you a Gold or Silver knife, it's a scam.
- Check the rarity score and the demand score. Blood, a Vintage with rarity 3 and demand 1, is old, not valuable. Rarity and demand together tell you how fast you can re-trade it.
- Check two lists. MM2 Values and Supreme Values agree on most top items today, but they split on newer event items. For example, Chroma Emberscythe sits at 12,500 on MM2 Values and about 16K on Supreme.
FAQ
What is the rarest knife in MM2 in 2026? Nik's Scythe. It's gift-only from Nikilis, has 7 confirmed owners on the MM2 Wiki, and MM2 Values lists it at 250,000,000 with a rarity score of 11. If you count single-copy items, the untradable Gold leaderboard knives are rarer by count.
What is the 2nd rarest knife in MM2? Among tradable knives, Corrupt used to hold that title until the 2017 Duping Glitch. Today the honest answer is Chroma Evergreen, the highest-rarity knife (7) that regularly trades, valued at 33,000 on MM2 Values on November 7, 2026.
What is the rarest knife you can still get? Chroma Emberscythe, crafted in the Halloween 2026 Cauldron from Emberbow and Embersickle. It's only obtainable until November 16, 2026 at 18:00 UTC, then it becomes trade-only.
Is Corrupt still rare? Not really. It's the only tradable Unique, but duping pushed it from roughly 63 owners to thousands of copies. MM2 Values lists it at 230, rarity 3.
Is the rarest knife also the most expensive? Not always. Chroma Emberscythe (rarity 6) is listed at 12,500, well below Chroma Alienbeam (rarity 5.5) at 22,500, and Emberscythe (rarity 3.5, 450) trails Vampire's Axe (rarity 3, 1,425). Demand matters as much as supply.
Are MM2 values official? No. MM2 Values and Supreme Values are community-run lists. Nikilis doesn't publish prices, drop counts or supply numbers. Use them as a trading guide, not a price tag.
Values and rarity scores were pulled from MM2 Values and Supreme Values on November 7, 2026, and Halloween 2026 dates from the official Roblox events listing for Murder Mystery 2. Values move weekly, especially for event items. For the full item-by-item prices, see the MM2 Chroma value list and the MM2 value list.
