What Should You Buy Before the WARDOGS Wipe? Spend Your Cash Before Season 2

Quick answer: Spend it. With WARDOGS Season 2 starting 15 October 2026, your Cash and XP progression will reset at the wipe — banked Cash is auto-converted into Gold Bars, and only your Gold Bars and cosmetics carry over. So there is almost no reason to sit on a huge Cash pile. The smart move in the roughly three weeks before the wipe is to buy and try the expensive stuff you can't normally justify — vehicles, big loadouts, the Artillery Tank if you're near Career 90 — so that when Season 2's new XP curve lands, you already know what you actually want to grind toward. The one thing worth banking Cash for is a Gold Bar conversion, because Gold Bars survive the reset. Every mechanic below comes from BULKHEAD's own announcements; where a number isn't published, this guide says so.

Does Cash reset in WARDOGS? (Yes — here's exactly what carries over)

Cash and XP are season-scoped assets. They do not survive a season change. BULKHEAD spelled out the reset mechanic in its Early Access & Beyond devlog (7 April 2026):

"At the end of a season, your cash and XP progression will reset with your cash auto converted into gold bars… Your gold bars and cosmetics from a season will stay permanently on your account across seasons."

If you want the confirmed date and source, we broke it down in WARDOGS Season 2 start date: the 15 October wipe, and the full list of exactly what resets when Season 2 starts. So at the 15 October wipe, three things happen:

  • Your Cash balance resets to the account starting value and any surplus is auto-converted into Gold Bars.
  • Your XP and progression-track levels reset — you re-grind the tracks under Season 2's "different XP curve with different item orders" (BULKHEAD's phrasing in the Season 1 changelog).
  • Your Gold Bars and cosmetics stay, permanently, across every future season.

That single split — Cash and levels are temporary, Gold Bars and cosmetics are permanent — is the whole decision. A vehicle you buy today is gone at the wipe. A cosmetic you unlock in the Gold Market is yours forever.

One correction, because players get this wrong. On the launch-week Reddit board, more than one player worried that grinding "a ton of money to get gold bars for skin unlocks" is pointless because "gold bars reset." It's the opposite: Gold Bars do NOT reset. They are the one currency the wipe protects. If anything, the wipe is a reason to convert spare Cash into Gold Bars, not a reason to avoid them. (New to the currency? Here's how Gold Bars and the Gold Market work.)

Should you spend your Cash before Season 2?

In almost every case, yes. Because leftover Cash is auto-converted at the wipe and levels reset anyway, hoarding a giant balance into 15 October buys you nothing except the conversion. The players who "win" the last three weeks of Season 1 are the ones who use their Cash for things they'd never normally risk.

Here's the live sentiment from the r/WarDogs board when a player asked whether to spend or save before the wipe — the replies were near-unanimous:

"Wipe is like 3 weeks away so yeah why not."

"Spend like you never spent before. Everything should get wiped out, gold bars reset [sic]. Buy some helicopters for your teammates, fill up your base with a bunch of trucks. Go broke to feel how it is."

"Buy stuff to try out so that you can save money [by] not buying the stuff you didn't like next wipe."

That last one is the actually useful strategy. Treat the pre-wipe window as a free test lab: spend Season 1 Cash learning which vehicles, scopes and loadouts you like, so that in Season 2 — when everything is expensive again and you're grinding a slower curve — you spend your fresh Cash only on what you know works for you. (Players report these figures; see the brand-safety note below on legitimate earning only.)

What to buy before the WARDOGS wipe (spend priority)

WARDOGS uses a two-gate system: an item needs (a) a level on the relevant progression track to make it available, and (b) enough Cash, which is its per-life purchase price at the in-match vendor. XP unlocks access; Cash pays. Before the wipe, spend against that in this order:

1. Big-ticket vehicles you'll never casually afford in Season 2. The Artillery Tank costs $500,000 and sits behind Career level 90 in Season 1 — if you're anywhere near that gate, this is the pre-wipe splurge. The Heavy Tank unlocks on Driver 35. Helicopters and trucks are cheaper: the Z20 Lakota is $35,000, the Little Bird with miniguns $50,000, a URAL $35,000, the Kodiak Flatbed $35,000. Buying one for your squad — as the Reddit crowd suggests — is a legitimate, fun use of doomed Cash. (If you're wondering how long a tank normally takes, see when you actually get a tank in WARDOGS.)

2. Scopes and gear you've been curious about. The 6-10x MRAD scope ($40,000) and 6-10x MOA scope ($45,000) are Recon-track buys that are expensive to test on a normal night. Now is when testing them costs you nothing you'll keep.

3. A Forward Operating Base and utility, to learn the economy. A FOB module is $7,500 in Season 1 (up from $2,500), the Large Hammer $2,400 at the vendor. Building and holding structures is one of the game's best legitimate Cash earners, so spend a little to practice the loop before Season 2 resets your bankroll.

4. Convert the leftovers to Gold Bars — deliberately, not by default. Whatever you don't spend gets auto-converted at the wipe anyway. But the cash-to-Gold-Bar exchange rate fluctuates daily ("Do you invest now or do you buy in the dip?" is BULKHEAD's own framing), and the ratio has never been published — so if you care about cosmetics, watch the rate in-game and convert on a good day rather than letting the wipe do it for you. Gold Bars buy cosmetics only, permanently, in the Gold Market.

Prices note: every figure above is a Season 1 launch value from BULKHEAD's Pre-Load Live & Season 1 Changelog (9 September 2026). Season 2 will re-order item prices and the XP curve, so treat this list as good only through 15 October 2026.

Is it worth unlocking new tracks before the wipe?

Only for the fun of trying them — not to keep the progress. Every track level you earn in Season 1 resets on 15 October. Pushing Driver to 35 for the Heavy Tank, or Recon high enough for the long scopes, lets you play with those unlocks now, but you'll start Season 2 at the bottom of a new, "different XP curve" regardless.

There's a real trade-off the community flagged: several players noted that a less grindy launch means lobbies fill with high-end gear faster, which can make matches messier. If you'd rather Season 2 feel fresh, it's completely valid to coast the last three weeks and save your energy. The progress isn't the point right now — the experience of testing is.

If your goal is specifically to hit a marquee gate — the Artillery Tank at Career 90, for example — before the wipe closes the window, that's a huge Season 1 XP grind under a curve BULKHEAD deliberately slowed (levels 10–20 got up to 124% more XP than the beta). Know what you're signing up for.

How much Cash can you realistically make before 15 October?

There is no official per-action payout table. The only earn figures in public are beta numbers PC Gamer explicitly disclaimed as subject to the Season 1 rebalance — for reference, players reported roughly $900 per revive, $1,200–$1,500 for completing a build (more than a kill), and passive Hot Zone income "by the minute." Treat all of those as beta-era, unverified for Season 1.

What is first-party and current: teamplay pays. BULKHEAD's store text is explicit — "Every teamplay action you perform rewards cash. From reviving squadmates, transporting friendlies to the zone, or controlling the objective." And the Hot Zone pays double Cash and counts double toward zone control. So if you want to bankroll a pre-wipe spending spree honestly, the fastest legitimate route is the same one that wins rounds: revives, transport, FOB building, and time spent inside the Hot Zone. Our full breakdown of the honest methods is in how to make money fast in WARDOGS.

If you'd rather skip the grind entirely and just have your Cash ready to spend before the wipe, that's exactly the "save time" gap our WARDOGS Cash service fills — hand-farmed, legitimately earned in-game, so you can go straight to buying the tanks and helis you want to test.

Short on time before Season 2 wipes the board?

  • WARDOGS Cash — hand-farmed Cash so you can splurge on big-ticket vehicles and gear before 15 October, with plenty left to convert to Gold Bars.
  • WARDOGS Career Leveling — push your WARDOG career level toward the big gates (Artillery Tank at Career 90) ahead of the wipe, hand-played, no bots.
  • WARDOGS Class Leveling — Medic, Support, Driver, Pilot or Recon levelled to the exact track gate you want to test.
  • WARDOGS Rent a Pro — squad up with a pro and play it yourself; you keep the controller and your own account.

A note on how we work: WARDOGS' everplay group plc EULA (updated 10 September 2026) restricts account sharing and paying for progression, and BULKHEAD watches the cash economy directly and bans exploiters. We don't sell accounts (there's no such product), and we never tutorialise economy exploits. Everything above is about legitimate in-game earning and, if you'd rather save the hours, a time-saving service — not a way around the rules.

FAQ

Does your Cash reset when Season 2 starts in WARDOGS? Yes. When Season 2 begins on 15 October 2026, your Cash and XP progression reset. Your banked Cash is automatically converted into Gold Bars, and only your Gold Bars and cosmetics carry over to the next season. This is BULKHEAD's stated reset mechanic from the Early Access & Beyond devlog.

Do Gold Bars reset in WARDOGS? No — this is the common misconception. Gold Bars and any cosmetics you've unlocked in the Gold Market stay permanently on your account across every season. Gold Bars are the one currency the wipe protects, which is why converting leftover Cash to Gold Bars before the wipe is worthwhile if you care about cosmetics.

Should I spend all my Cash before the WARDOGS wipe? In almost every case, yes. Because leftover Cash is auto-converted at the wipe and your levels reset anyway, hoarding a large balance buys you nothing. Most players use the pre-wipe window to buy and test expensive vehicles, scopes and loadouts they wouldn't normally risk, so they know what to grind toward in Season 2.

What should I buy first before Season 2? Big-ticket items you can't casually afford: a helicopter or truck for your squad (the Z20 Lakota is $35,000, a Little Bird with miniguns $50,000), long-range scopes (the 6-10x MRAD is $40,000), and — if you're near the Career 90 gate — the $500,000 Artillery Tank. All are Season 1 launch prices and will change at the wipe.

Is it worth grinding levels before the wipe? Only to try the unlocks now. Every progression-track level you earn in Season 1 resets on 15 October, and Season 2 uses a different XP curve. Grinding to a gate like the Heavy Tank (Driver 35) lets you play with it before the reset, but you won't keep the level.

When exactly is the WARDOGS wipe? Season 2 — and the wipe — starts on 15 October 2026, confirmed by BULKHEAD in its WARDOGS Season 02 Teaser on Steam (22 September 2026). No launch time was published; Season 1 went live at 16:00 UTC, but that's an expectation, not a confirmed time.

This guide covers WARDOGS Season 1 (Early Access, live since 10 September 2026) and the Season 2 wipe scheduled for 15 October 2026. All prices and mechanics are from BULKHEAD's official Steam announcements; where a figure isn't published first-party, we say so.
