Annotated Escape from Tarkov Customs map with every PMC, Scav and transit extraction point labeled

Customs is the map every Tarkov player learns first and never really leaves. It's the early-quest engine room, a top rouble farm, and the home of Reshala — and after the expansion it's nearly double its original size. This guide covers every extraction, the keys actually worth carrying, where the bosses spawn, and the loot routes that pay in the current 1.0.5 patch (Season 1 "Kord Breach").

Quick answer: Customs is a large industrial map for 10–12 players with a 35-minute raid timer (per tarkov.dev). Your PMC extracts depend on your spawn side (east vs. west) — the most reliable ones are ZB-1011, ZB-013, Old Gas Station, Trailer Park, RUAF Roadblock, Crossroads and the Dorms vehicle extract. The scav boss Reshala roams between Dorms, New Gas Station and Stronghold, and the single most lucrative locked room is the 3-story Dorms marked room (Dorm room 314 marked key). Beginners should learn the Dorms ↔ Gas Station ↔ Big Red corridor first.

When Battlestate Games shipped the big Customs overhaul in patch 0.12.7, the changelog entry was blunt: "Added the new part of the location 'Customs'." (EFT changelog). That "new part" — the expanded RUAF road, the Stronghold complex and the reworked railroad — is why old routes you learned years ago no longer match the map. Here's the current layout.

Customs splits cleanly into two halves connected by the main road. The west side holds the Old Gas Station, the warehouses ("Big Red" / Warehouse 17), the Crackhouse and the Boiler Rooms. The east side holds Dorms, the New Gas Station, the Customs office (Tarcone), Stronghold and the railroad. Knowing which half you spawned in tells you which extracts are even reachable before the timer runs out.

Where Can You Extract on Customs?

Extraction availability rotates with your spawn side, and several exits need a condition met (a power switch, a payment, a fired flare, or simply "no backpack"). The in-raid map screen now lists the exits open to you — but here are the ones that matter.

PMC extractions

ExtractSideNotes
ZB-1011EastBunker door, usually free/open — the bread-and-butter east exit
ZB-013EastRequires the ZB-013 power switch to be activated first
Dorms V-ExEastVehicle (car) extract near Dorms — paid, shared, leaves on a timer

Scav extractions

Scavs get a much longer list, including Military Base CP, Passage Between Rocks, Sniper Roadblock, Old Road Gate, Railroad to Tarkov/Port/Military Base, Warehouse 17, Factory Shacks, Scav Checkpoint and the co-op Boiler Room Basement. If you're running Scav raids on Customs to farm, learn two scav exits near your usual loot loop so a hot extract never traps you.

New-player tip: never commit to a far-side extract you haven't reached before. On a 35-minute timer, crossing the whole map under fire is how kits die. Loot your half, confirm an exit you can actually reach, and leave.

Which Bosses Spawn on Customs?

Customs is no longer just Reshala's map — the 1.0 boss pool roams here.

  • Reshala — the classic Customs scav boss, escorted by his guards. He has a high spawn chance (~75% in the current patch per tarkov.dev) and rolls between three zones: Dorms, the New Gas Station, and Stronghold. His armored rig and his guards' loot make him the most farmed boss in the game.
  • The Goons (Knight, Big Pipe, Birdeye) — the roaming trio can appear on Customs, typically around Stronghold (~30% when they're on the map). They hit far harder than Reshala — treat them as a PvP-grade threat, not a loot piñata.
  • Cultist Priest — can spawn at Stronghold (~25%), bringing the cultist knife-and-toxin threat to the east side at night.
  • Partisan — the roaming partisan scav has a chance to appear and ambush from the treelines.

If you're hunting Reshala for a boss-kill checklist on every map, read our full bosses guide. For Customs specifically, the play is to listen for his guards' chatter near New Gas before you push.

Best Keys and Locked Rooms on Customs

You do not need every key — most are dead weight. These are the ones worth a secure-container slot:

  • Dorm room 314 marked key — opens the 3-story Dorms marked room, the single most valuable locked room on Customs (rotating high-tier loot: keys, weapons, bitcoin, meds). This is the key that pays for itself.
  • Dorm room 114 key — 2-story Dorms; reliable item/weapon spawns and an early-quest checkpoint.
  • Dorm room 206 key and Dorm room 220 key — solid 2-story rooms with consistent loot for the cost.
  • Tarcone Director's office key — the Customs office, a quest and intel hot spot.
  • Gas station office key and Portable cabin key — quick, cheap detours near the gas stations for tools and barter items.

A single trip to the marked room with the Dorm room 314 marked key can clear well over 100,000–300,000 roubles in one go when the spawn is good — which is exactly why the 3-story Dorms is the most-contested building on the map. Carry the key in your secure container so a death doesn't cost you the key too.

Best Loot Spots and Rouble Routes

New/Old Gas Station industrial area on Customs — a central loot zone and Reshala spawn

Customs rewards a tight loop over a greedy sprint. The highest-value zones:

  • 3-story Dorms (marked room + rooms) — the jackpot, and the deadliest. Expect PvP every raid.
  • 2-story Dorms — quieter, still good item spawns and quest checkpoints.
  • New Gas Station — registers, jackets and a Reshala spawn; quick to clear.
  • Customs office (Tarcone) — filing cabinets, safes, PC blocks for flash drives and intel.
  • Stronghold — the expansion's loot-dense complex, but boss-contested.
  • Big Red / Warehouse 17 — tool and barter spawns, central, easy to rotate from.

Customs Is the Early-Quest Engine

More early Prapor, Therapist and Skier tasks point at Customs than any other map — Debut, Checking, Shootout Picnic, The Punisher line, and a long chain of "find/place/eliminate on Customs" objectives. That's the real reason new players live here: it's where your trader levels (and your flea-market unlock) come from. The trade-off is that Customs is also where every other new PMC is grinding the same tasks, so the PvP density is brutal for a "beginner" map.

If the quest grind is the bottleneck between you and Kappa, that's exactly what our quest & Kappa container service is built for — pro players clear the Customs task wall while you keep your gear.

Beginner Route: What to Learn First

Pick one corridor and run it 20 times before you expand:

  • Spawn east → check New Gas Station (Reshala?) → Dorms (2-story first, 3-story if you're geared) → extract ZB-1011.
  • Spawn west → loot Old Gas Station and the warehouses → extract Old Gas Station or Trailer Park.

Once those are muscle memory, add the Customs office and Stronghold detours. Run armor and a headset you can afford to lose — our armor tier guide and headset comparison cover the budget picks that survive Customs gunfights.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many extractions does Customs have? Customs has seven main PMC extracts (ZB-1011, ZB-013, Dorms V-Ex, Crossroads, Old Gas Station, Trailer Park and RUAF Roadblock) plus a long list of Scav-only exits like Military Base CP, Sniper Roadblock and Warehouse 17. Which PMC extracts you can use depends on your spawn side — the in-raid map shows the ones open to you.

Where does Reshala spawn on Customs? Reshala rotates between three zones — Dorms, the New Gas Station and Stronghold — with a high spawn chance (around 75% in the current patch per tarkov.dev). Listen for his guards near New Gas before committing to a push.

Which Customs key is the most worth it? The Dorm room 314 marked key, which opens the 3-story Dorms marked room. Its rotating high-tier loot (keys, weapons, bitcoin, meds) makes it the best rouble-per-key value on the map. Keep it in your secure container so death doesn't cost you the key.

How long is a Customs raid? 35 minutes, with 10–12 players per raid (source: tarkov.dev). Plan your loot loop and extract around that timer — don't chase a far-side exit you can't reach in time.

Is Customs good for beginners? Yes for quests and learning the game, because most early trader tasks are here and the layout is easy to read. But it's also one of the highest-PvP maps, so run gear you can afford to lose while you learn the routes.

What's the current Customs wipe/patch? This guide reflects the 1.0.5 patch under Season 1 "Kord Breach," the post-1.0 no-traditional-wipe system. Always confirm boss spawn rates and extracts against tarkov.dev, since Battlestate tunes them between patches.
